I love my rivet press. I bought flat plates to use for my jean buttons. I use the parts that come with the button between the plates and it works great. I also bought circle cutting dies to make leather washers for my jean buttons so that I don’t need to trim off any of the shaft. I get a bag of scrap leather from Tandy for a few dollars and it lasts forever.
I bought a generic ebay press many years ago and loved using it. Eventually I invested in a KAM Snap press and it's been a lot easier to use, with more variety of dies. I'm pretty sure they have a jeans tac button die. Hope you love yours and use it for everything (cause you know, it's fun like that.) 😉
Thank you so much! My husband got me one for Christmas, and I was kind of scared to use it. I do a lot of sewing for kids. Install a lot of snaps (that's probably why he got me one). I think it will be a great help once I master the technique.
I have the Kamsnap press and use it daily since I’m a bag maker. It’s larger with more clearance space as I need that. It’s a great company with great service for my needs. Huge variety of dies.
@@maureenmiller9861 you would have to check the threads on the screws. It’s possible the owner of KamSnaps would know. but there are different systems and i think they are all different. I buy all mine from Kam
Just got mine on Black Friday from Amazon. Game Changer. Already found many uses. I have marked the information from the bags right onto the die just incase… As well as the direction to turn the a screw to the top press. Just simplifying my life. Going to get a plastic organizer to label sort them all out. You can get the hole punch for the grommets if you intend to use a particular size frequently. I think I will order the “Kam” Die Casts to see if they have the same threads to fit the upper. That would eliminate the small hand press. Great information video.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have been wanting to get one of these presses but have been confused about which dies were the right ones to get as there seems to be so many options. You've cleared that up for me so I think I am ready to make a purchase!
I bought one a year ago and had the hardest time figuring it out! Even my very (very!) mechanical husband who is a Machinist had to read through the directions a few times. I whish we had this video then. The hint about keeping the little plastic bags with the sizes and what the pieces are printed on them is very helpful. I've used it quite a bit now, I made my husband a cardigan and I used snaps, he loves it.
thank you I purchased the big green machine which is essentially the same as your press a few months ago but have been afraid to use it. So action in the New year
Thank you so much for this information! I have had this press on my list for over a year and was a bit intimidated. Happy Holidays to you, Jenny and your families!
Thanks Whitney! I have a cheap prym hand press that frustrates me to no end. I'm ordering this and getting rid of all frustrations! If you ever find a die for jeans buttons please let us know where to order from.
I too have purchased this press and not yet used it. There were no instructions in the box. I’m wondering, can I use plastic snaps ie. diaper snaps, in this press? Thanks for the tutorial , it was just what I needed!
Do you know what are the rivets found on jeans that have the pointy end showing are called? Found on pockets etc When I look for rivets I find the cap ones but nothing like the ones on ready to wear jeans. I'm guessing they're called something else that I don't know? I have the green monster and love it. I bought it because PEARL SNAPS 😱🤣 love them! But also use it for Kam snaps and ring snaps on clothes. I don't have the metal fashion snaps die...yet! But I'm sure it'll come around eventually.
I do know what you're talking about and I've used those on my jeans before (applying them with a hammer). I think they're just called jean rivets. It looks like Core Fabrics has some: corefabricstore.com/products/9mm-jeans-rivets-10-pack?country=US&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAoe1wU6-t5K6YEDCJHNOvd9BQN-1H&gclid=CjwKCAiA65m7BhAwEiwAAgu4JOXyqU6k2f2anRCDKHlRNi2fMXf3moJU2t5uGHkUYdjZexKAyzGmDxoCq8gQAvD_BwE&variant=43760972660991
I love the look of this pattern but I hate a turtle neck. I've had the pattern for a long time. Is it possible to leave off the turtle neck? I just want a regular crew neck. I guess I could try to make it but I think I'd need to cut the neckline down a little so I could add ribbing to the neckline. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks Whitney. I have a hand press but for some reason I'm good at breaking the plastic snaps...LOL
I use the neckline cut down 1" lower at center front for my forward neck, and just bind the edge. I love this finish as I too hate turtlenecks! No more cold necks like on the Sloane!

Love, love my KAM snap press. Highly recommend that model. I have snaps, grommets, open ring snaps, etc. Great for so many uses!!
Thanks for sharing!

Hi, I have a table top press and am hoping to purchase some more dies next month. What a great tool! Thank you for the tutorial.
Thank you for showing me how to use this. I hope to buy one real soon.❤

I wonder if the Kam Snap dies for other presses?

@@maureenmiller9861 They might! I would look at the ends of the dies to see if they are similar. If so, they might very well work with other presses!
Wow! You made it look sooooo easy! Tutorials are much appreciated.
It is pretty easy once you get the hang of it!

I like the idea of the container to keep all the presses in. I'll have to get one of those!

I plan on getting one of these soon.
It's a very handy tool to have

Yes you do!
Thank you, Whitney! I am looking forward to trying this in the New Year. Merry Christmas to you and your family and to Jenny’s family as well.
Merry Christmas to you too!
Thank you Wendy Merry Chirstmas. .
Merry Christmas to you too!
❤❤. You should be able to buy a die set to cut the grommet hole size you need for your grommet. I have it with my kamsnap press
That's great to know!

I don't see why you can't try it with the plastic snaps. Just be gentle and the pressure could break the snaps

@TomKatStitchery yes, that's them! Thanks. I'm wondering if there's a die set for them 🤔 hmmm the search continues
@@sewmytroublesawayI think the single cap die set might work. I’ll have to play around with that!
