Dear sir, thank you for such videos. And I've a question from long time that truss members being connected by bolt vs weld? And IN fixed or pinned connection which is the best for the steel column for truss structure vs concrete with steel column?
sir if the column section is Hollow square box section 150 x 150 mm then how to design the base plate for that section?
because For ISHB Isection the flange and web was there which is not for Box section..
Both Width and Length are same in that case..
sir please clear my doubt..

everyone is explaining about I section..
When the projection is same the value of a and b will be same . What so ever the shape of the column, the projection beyond the column section will behave as a cantilever. To make the formula generalized code has provided the dimension as a and b. Square base plate is a special rectangle where a = b.

Bearing strength of concrete shall be calculated based upon IS 456,right?
But the formula is mentioned in IS 800 2007. We have considered that
It will be better if it is designed for two cases 1) Compression, moment and lateral with stiffners 2) Tension, moment & lateral with stiffners.
At least he is discussing this for us.
