Yeah, after watching the anime when I went to check the manga I was shocked at how the art in Vol.1 looked quite amateurish, something you would find in an online self-published doujinshi not a published manga ... checking later volumes I was also shocked again at how much he improved and refined his art with each subsequent volume .. for sure the early volumes where mostly carried by the sheer strength of the writing.
@@LeoArmada It's the truth though, the first few chapters of the first volume where quite amateurish, but if anything it' a testament to his dedication and hard work that he managed to get to where he is now...also a testament to how good the idea and writing were in the early parts of the story.
Great analysis of the art of Isayama, not agreeing on the take of the ending. I think it was a perfect conclusion for the series, sad that many people didn’t understand Eren’s character. But good video overall
Yeah, the manga version of 139 lacked in execution but it was thematically fitting ending whereas the anime has both fitting thematic conclusion and great execution.

Great video, although I will defend Isayama on his use of shading. It was messy and amateur-ish for sure, but it gave the drawings a’lot of energy and motion, which works especially during action scenes and conveying strong emotions like anger or despair. Which honestly can compensate for the lack of detail, at least for me, though he did overdid at times, and I’m glad he improved on it as the series went on.
I wouldve agreed, if the expressions were molded around the faces and were stable, rather that be with the models themselvs, or linework, everything was chaotic and as a resault, its chaos was lost to me, AOT later on, is the perfect example, of what Isayama wanted to do, but couldnt. Same goes with the action, many times, its hard to even tell whats happening, because everything was hatching, down to the linework, its energy, yes, but its as clear as a bomb in a wooden box.

I always found that when this series tried to be "funny" or humorous, it felt like an alien trying to mimic something they saw on tv. The artwork especially didn't match it. The series was far too dark, dense(as far as wording), and self-serious to do that. I bring this up because every time I see a manga panel from this series, it brings me back to the time I tried to read it. I got far past the first few volumes of course, but it felt off. Maybe by design, I guess. Aside from that, have you read any of Kengan Ashura yet?
Loved the art analysis. The constant asides about your opinion on the ending were pretty cringe tho. Keep your videos more focused on the actual topic of the video
I always love seeing your video about artistic evolution of a manga. It makes me feel great that you make such video for AOT. Isayama art style has a charm to it and seeing it evolve is astounding. I know people keep complaining about your take on the ending, but I actually respect it despite loving the ending myself. It's normal for people to have different opinion or analysis on something and I'm pretty sure the ending is by no means flawless, but I still like it. Anyway, I really appreciate your view on both of this topic so keep up the good work.
Thats a lot better, to say that you see its flaws, but YOU still like it. If people could word stuff better, the anitube space would a lot better. (Jokes are jokes, if my vids I exadurate things and make jokes, thats what makes a lot of things, less boring. Ending in my eyes is ass, but in your eyes its good, thats what it comes down to and thats good)
Great analysis. Personally, I think Yams artstyle was best during the Return to Shiganshina arc (coincidentally that's when his writing was at it's peak) I don't mind the rough earlier panels that are almost unreadable since they do have a little charm to them. Post time skip towards the end of the manga I was actually quite put off by the art style, specifically with character designs and sometimes the faces too, it just wasn't very pleasing to look at in my opinion and that might have to do partly with how much of a joke the writing becomes and the cursed final chapter, I don't think I can take the story seriously ever again.
I thought this video was about the evolution in the art style, not your take on the ending 😂 I mean, you're entitled to your opinion, but jesus you made it clear at the beginning, didn't need to keep whining through the video lol
