Tiny Desk was AMAZING! But, we want to give a special Thanks to the patrons who told us the meaning of Spring day. We would love to watch one of the explanation videos someday. I remember this story very vividly from a few years ago and as parents, it still breaks our hearts. “INCREDIBLE” doesn’t even begin to describe hat BTS did in writing this song

I know they wrote the song thinking about old friends but the MV very much alludes to the ferry incident.
Spring Day is a Queen, After years of release it is still on korean music charts. You gotta watch Spring Day music video and after that an Explanation Video 'cause there are still more things to know about in the video. It is really close to Our Hearts.....One of the comforting songs for me!!

More than 5 years and still alive and kicking. A few weeks ago it dropped to #98 and when Korean ARMYs saw it, they did their best to make sure it doesnt drop out of the chart. Last update it was #78ish. Queen Spring Day indeed.

I love Spring Day because it doesn't give a simplistic, romanticised version of grief. Grief is so painful in how sharp it is, the anger and resentment that can go hand in hand with the love and the longing. When I first discovered Spring Day, I was deeply grieving someone and I felt so guilty and ashamed of how angry I was, when I read Suga's verse, I broke down. It was such a relief to know those feelings were normal. Once the guilt and shame faded, I was able to let go of the anger and my grief became easier to live with and faded to a dull ache.
Yes. Yes yes yes. This is the best explanation I've seen of what it's like - that feeling of almost being seen, being recognized, because your own experiences are in this song.
I love that they don't say it will all be better, only that we'll walk along the edge of the winter and spring will come. It doesn't all get better, but you do find joy in life again.

Fun fact: RM wrote the lyrics for Spring day after seeing the leaves falling when he was sitting at the park. 😭 And we call it the QUEEN of all BTS songs because it's still charting on Korean music chart up to this days. It never leaves the music chart since the day it was released last 2017. 👑

ALL BTS songs have co-writers and the rap line write their own verses. However, Namjoon was the initial writer of this song. He tells the story of when he was sitting on a park bench and a leaf 🍁 fell down before him. He got the idea and wrote Spring Day quickly. The poetry of this beautiful song is by Namjoon. I don’t know why people can never let him have any credit. 💜

Jin can SING, man. He's got pipes. A lot of their Japanese songs (let go, don't leave me, crystal snow) really showcase his voice.
Jungkook harmonizing with J-Hope is one of my favorite things in the world, especially when he does it again during Outro: Wings. They mesh so well and it gets my blood rushing so much when they sing together 😂 When you watch that for the first time, please do watch the live stadium version!! Their performance of that song at Wembley is absolutely amazing too
They love it when Jungkook harmonizes with them. There are some behind the scene vids where you'd see them telling Kookie to harmonize with them on some of their parts. Being the adorable maknae that he is, he does everything his hyungs want. These boys' bond is truly no joke. 🥰

"Jin can really sing" You have no idea. He is not given the title "silver voice" by the critics for nothing. Please check out their Japanese songs and Jin's solo songs. You'll love his style of music, it's really really different and honestly my favourite.

Jin singing in Epiphany, Awake & Moon. So that you can appreciate Jin’s vocals, they go so underrated most of the time and he’s amazing. 🥲
People often sleep on Jin’s vocals but he has the widest range in bts and he’s arguably one of the best vocalists in the industry rn. The emotions he can display with his voice alone, the cleanest falsetto and high notes are incomparable. I feel so sad when people don’t even include him in bts vocalists. They’re all amazing but he’s so underrated.

Jin doesn’t actually have the widest range (Tae edges all the others but only just) but I think Jin has the strongest voice live throughout the whole of his range. In live performances you can hear how strong and stable his voices truly is.

Having joined in the fandom in early 2015, i know how much spring day means to most of us, even to the newer army. Spring day is THAT song that never left korean charts ever since its release. It healed many parents and families who lost their kids in the ferry incident. and even to us ARMY, this song means just more than a life. I always am grateful for BTS for helping us getting through some deepest darkest difficult times in our lives, giving us an assurance that we'll overcome it together, that spring day will come if we hang in there little longer. And i can't even explain how much i'm grateful to namjoon (RM) for writing this song.
and now that BTS are leaving to serve in the military, though they'll come back by the mid of 2025, i hate to say it but truly i see my SPRIND DAY walking away from me.
Even today, Jin performed his last song along with coldplay at their concert in Argentina. He flew 48 hours from all over korea, just to sing this last goodbye song for us live. The man who loves making music, loves singing, loves being on the stage, loves his bandmates, loves his fans chose to serve in the military in WINTER just for his members and us.
He's not resistant to cold and said that he previously wanted to serve in the summer, but the members decided to hold concerts for us before they leave and he didn't hesitate and agreed.
His solo song that'd be his last song until he return is "The Astronaut" written by Jin himself and Chris Martin of Coldplay was released yesterday. Chris gave a small intro in today's concert about the conversation about him and Jin that made them work together again and chris explained how much he loves BTS and Jin.
I'd be the happiest person if you react to "the astronaut" music video, a 3-4 mins video of Chris talking about BTS and Jin and their live performance together. The music video has a lot of small little details and symbolism.
I wish you to shower him with so much love along with us until he returns. Thank you so much for the reaction. Wishing you best in everything.
As much as I want them to react to The Astronaut, I think it’s too early for them to understand the significance of the song for Jin and army and also catch the nuances in the MV …. It’s best for them to take their time …. I feel BTS’s solo songs are as much universal as contextual…. So they need to understand the personality of the members to really truely appreciate the song….

I'm a Dynamite era Army, but it was Spring Day that pulled me down the rabbit hole. I hope you can watch the MV of Spring Day. Yes, you are right. The song is about losing someone so dear, and having to process that hurt or grief. It is a sad song with a hopeful undertone. Hence, the upbeat. Another BTS fav song of mine that has a similar message is Film Out - a Japanese song.
watching the performance live made me cry so hard, I've never cried that hard in a long time and I still can't bring myself to re-watch it. My heart aches everytime.
Jin really shines in their Japanese songs (other than solo of course)…my fav…your eyes tell, let go and crystal snow - the lives are the best and for crystal snow most amazing is Jin’s triple high note - though It’s hard to even see him do it as there’s like one fancam that actually caught it 😂if I find I will def link it.
No need to pick a bias. I started as an rm bias with yoongi and V as wreckers but now I give up and am oT7…it depends on the moment, the song, the mood cause they just are all amazing and gorgeous 💜

I love how you are starting to distinguish the voices of the vocal line. That harmony of Jk and jhope was just put together right before they filmed this song. They showed that interaction in the behind the scene video. Jhope just turned to JK as they were sitting in this formation and asked him to add harmony and he just did right there! Jk is the youngest and yet was given the role as main vocalist. He was very unsure and surprised that they will give him this role since he was so young but apparently from the very beginning he had the most stable voice...able to sing while dancing. He has perfect pitch ...but he never said that himself but Charlie Puth has been saying it in every interview! As a main vocalist he usually adds the harmonies, adlibs in their tracks and during live performances. V is the baritone of the group but his falsettos are beautiful so he has a lot of range. Jimin...the angelic high voice...but also gorgeous low range. Jin...like to belt and sing in his mixed voice but transitions beautifully into a falsetto. That’s why his delivery is usually so dramatic and emotional. As many has suggested check out his new music video and his live performance with Coldplay! I’m still very emotional about it all!

Wow- I didn't know that JK and jhope threw that harmony in at the last minute. It was honestly my favorite part of the song. Tiny desk was the first time I heard the song, so I was a bit shocked and saddened when I didn't hear it in the recorded version. Now I know why that harmony is not there. They are so talented to be able to do something like that on the fly.
I agree on Jin. His vocals are so clean and strong. His transition from chest to head (falsetto) is always as strong on high as on low notes. Never fades in the transition.
They always ask Jk to harmonized w/ them, also V in their performance of You r my Universe ask Jk to harmonized with him.And Jk as king of Vocals always ready yo do it.

I love our rapline so much. I'm maybe a bit biased with Suga's emotional rap and voice but i love all of them. I want to mention too, that i love Jhope and RM's singing voice.

JIN JUST RECENTLY PERFORMED HIS NEW SOLO DEBUT SINGLE “THE ASTRONAUT” WITH #COLDPLAY IN ARGENTINA. From what Ive heard If im not mistaken, BTS has started their official hiatus from group promotions and activities to focus more on solo music along with preparing for their military enlistments starting with JIN and SUGA (29). J-HOPE and RM (28) possibly enlist together after their next solo comebacks and maknae line JIMIN (27), TAEHYUNG (26>27) and JUNGKOOK (24) will probably enlist together before or after they’ve released their solo debut albums.
as Daniel said at the beginning of the video, this song was written by RM after the Sewol Ferry accident where more than 200 students died due to the captain's negligence. RM wanted to bring some comfort to people who lost their loved ones in this accident, he said he wrote the song sitting on a park bench, and the song really brought the subject of the accident to the forefront and thousands of people took to the streets asking for justice and the president was removed from office. South Korea. If you can see the explanation about the song and the MV, the girls will cry a lot.
Sorry, but this is a bit confusing. It's NOT the song 'Spring Day' but the Music Video which is about the tragic incident. RM said the song is about missing friends - whether because they have passed or because they are separated for some reason. It's the MV which (once you are aware) is full of reference to the incident . You can certainly see how relevant the song is to the incident but it wasn't actually written for that purpose. You're right tho, the video did help to galvanise the Korean public to protest against the government. And I can confirm, the explanation video will make you cry and also make you very angry.
Like Mary said the song specifically isn't about the ferry tragedy but grief and moving on. However the mv definitely connects the song with the ferry tragedy. It can be confusing with mv referencing the tragedy but for accuracy purposes RM didn't specifically write the song about the ferry tragedy. Its an amazing video and definitely deserves all the credit for bringing awareness to a day that should never of happened.
@@teresanike7181 yes...and I think it’s important to note this because on its own without the reference to the ferry incident it is already a very powerful and meaningful song! So very relatable since we all will lose someone at some point in our lives. I saw this video first without knowing about the incident and it moved me so much because of the theme it conveyed...the grieving process... the ferry incident explanation just gives it another level of significance!
Yeah, I don’t know why so many ARMY still claim the song itself is about the tragedy, when the members who wrote it have stated otherwise. The song is, unequivocally, NOT about the tragedy. The MV appears to have close ties to it. I also strongly agree that the Italian ARMY version is the best explanation video, because it discusses the tragedy itself, and that’s really important to understand. Also, the woman who did that version has since been to Korea and met with parents of students lost.
Just watch the MV first, then the explanation by the Italian Army. You'll know why BTS are very careful during that time to directly say that this song is related to the Sewol tragedy and even RM said it during the interview. It's a very sensitive topic during that time and alot of artists was 'blacklisted' by the government for criticizing the president. I remember during one of their springday stage performance, BTS used the under the sea themed stage background and we can see other idols watching while crying🥺😭. It made my heart bleed.

I hope you guys react to V & Jin’s solo songs. Their live versions of Stigma and Jin’s Awake. Also Jin just had a song released this week “The Astronaut”. Please react to the MV and the live performance with Coldplay. He sang it for the 1st time live & last time before he heads into his 2 yr military service requirement. He and Coldplay wrote the song as a form of saying goodbye to ARMY for a little while. 😢💜

FYI you don’t have to have a bias, you can be OT7. I’m OT7 but Jimin is my ultimate bias and I also bias Jhope. I’m always obsessed with jhope’s verses. I love his flow and the way he sings as well. Jimin is the reason I became an army. He never fails to catch my attention bc of his visuals, voice, but especially his dancing and stage presence. I LOVE Jimin’s voice so much!! He’s known to have one of the uniquest voice in the industry. He’s one of, if not, is my favorite vocalist ever. Jimin is a singer whose vocal tone and color are unique and captivating. His voice is mysterious, honey-like, charming, angelic, beautiful, gentle, and passionate yet powerful. It's difficult to find someone with such a rare and attractive voice like his. His falsetto and head voice have a special tone that only he can produce, honestly. Jimin’s such a breathtaking vocalist! He executes every song so perfectly with his vocals and the way he does adlibs, high notes, vocal runs and the way he perfectly harmonizes with every one so beautifully and also conveys the emotions of the songs so raw and perfect, like?

Be careful, because the Spring day song is about missing someone a lot, Suga and RM wrote it, but it's not about the ferry tragedy. The MV on the other hand, if it is thought of the tragedy and other associations with different social injustices. It is a beautiful song with which many can feel identified.

Absolutely love this little concert. I play it for my 5th grade students all the time! A great video to highlight Jungkook’s vocals, is the Jungkook the Main Vocalist. I think it’s by Ida S. His job as the main vocalist is much deeper than I ever thought. He sings almost every vocal guide for BTS, but also sings vocal guides for some of the member’s solo songs. He covers parts for singers when they are sick or unable to perform, but also covers the parts of the rappers. I think you guys would really like the behind the scenes of that video. what just makes me sad is that seokjin really has a beautiful and heavenly vocals the more you listen to him but he doesn't have much lines in their title track so you can maybe just appreciate him more listening to their B-side or solo songs but I know you still might not be able to do that until his bday 🤧

If you want to experience something completely different from BTS, Jin just released a solo single yesterday called "The Astronaut" that was cowritten with Coldplay. You always seem surprised by Jin, but at this point in his career, he's arguably as skilled and lovely a singer as JK; he's just not a dancer. Jin and RM are usually in the back of BTS' dance formations because they say it takes them three days to learn choreography that takes the others only one. JK even said once after listening to one of Jin's songs that Jin could be the main vocalist.
Coldplay wrote the music and English lyrics for "The Astronaut" (and it sounds like a Coldplay song) and Jin wrote the Korean lyrics. It's in the lowest part of his vocal range, but he sings it beautifully despite previously saying that "Blue and Grey" (which was originally written for V) was difficult for him, so his progression from that time is clear. He worked hard on the English pronunciation: he has to sing the words "love" and "heaven," and Korean doesn't have a "v" sound. Jin wasn't able to pronounce "love" perfectly in "Epiphany", but he can now. In fact, in "The Astronaut," his accent is nearly undetectable.
And he can still hit shatteringly high notes - easily as high as Jimin - in Busan a couple of weeks ago, the vocal line performed "Zero O'Clock," and Jin's part in that song is so high that some female singers would have trouble hitting it.
Jin had to learn how to sing and dance from scratch. He's the only member who had absolutely no musical or dance background at all when he was recruited by BigHit. You've seen Taylor's intro video: he wasn't even recruited as an idol trainee; he was recruited as an actor for his beautiful face when an agent from BigHit saw him getting off a bus on his way home from university. Since "The Astronaut" is his farewell to ARMY before enlisting in the Korean military within the next few weeks and his 30th birthday is approaching in December, it might be worth checking out how much Jin has evolved over the years.
There are two high quality videos on TH-cam for "The Astronaut": one is the official music video released by HYBE Music, and the other is the label's release of Jin's live performance of the song at Coldplay's concert in Buenos Aires last night.
It's worth noting that while BTS uses a backing track when they perform live on stage (their mics are hot and they're definitely singing, but they do use backing tracks), Coldplay doesn't. So in the video shot last night in Argentina, when Jin was singing solo at the Coldplay concert, he was singing completely unsupported by a backing track. It was just him and his mic, so what you hear is pure Jin singing live.

V’s baritone voice is sooo smooth & velvety. He can also go very high. He has the widest range because of of being a baritone to begin with though we don’t get to hear it too often because their songs tend to be high. V’s solo song “Stigma” has an incredible high note, check it out.
Seokjin es tan genial, muchas veces pasa desapercibido porque no tiene tantas partes en las canciones. Pero Jin es uno de los mejores vocalistas que he escuchado. El panel de los Grammys nombró a Jin como “silver voice”. Cuando escuchéis sus solos o recopilaciones de Jin “high notes and falsettos” podréis apreciarlo mejor.

I think we should stop asking them, we’ll just wait until they know Jin themselves because I don’t want them to react to him thru sympathy of to give us what we want. We can’t force them, maybe someday they will discover why Chris Martin Hyung/Coldplay adores our Seokjin. Ok I haven't finished watching the video yet but I just HAD to tell you guys (although you probs already know lol) that Jin's solo debut single "The Astronaut" is out and it's sooo meaningful and beautiful!! I hope you guys react to the mv soon, along with the live performance Jin gave with Coldplay in Argentina yesterday. This song is like a farewell for now to Army and the BTS members and is the last performance we'll see from Jin until he returns from his military enlistment (which should be in 2025).

I love you guys. Your camaraderie is so refreshing and natural. I love that you don't talk over each other & that you pause the video before speaking about it. Many TH-camrs that react to videos with multiple people leave me thinking that they're not even listening to the video or paying attention to the video. I hope, they will also watch Jin’s solo documentary, he’s true personality and hard work was not shown in the guide to bts video. His positive outlook in life and diligence made him my bias. My only consolation now is that Chris Martin/Coldplay recognises his talent and love him genuinely.

This is such a great performance and has become iconic. If you like his harmonies and want to learn more about JK and his role in the band please watch Jungkook the main vocalist by Ida S. She does a great job putting together great music clips as well as some behind the scenes of making the music and at shows. He works really hard at making their music sound full and beautiful. RM has said that when JK chose to join big hit it was an important and changing moment for the band. He was asked to join many other companies. All the members work really hard and each have their role to play. They respect each other’s roles and each other. And that is one of the reasons they are so fabulous. 💜
I love how you pick tiny details from the deep lyrics, harmony, arrangements and the added spice of the band to the song. I still remember wayback 2014 bts also did ballad songs for their older songs and it made me so emotional. I think that's what bts is all about their songs affects you in a special way.

It's so cute how you guys struggle picking a bias but I think the beauty of being an ARMY is that you go in thinking you'll have a favourite, and realise that you love all 7 of them. V is my bias and favorite voice in the group. It's soulfiul and sexy. Of course they are all wonderful. Don't put pressure to find a bias just because ARMY say you should or ask you who your bias is... it's so unnecessary this early. You don't even have to.. If you prefer one person that you may be drawn to then it's ok to bias them. You will find many solo stans (I see so many in the comments already bombarding you)..Go go with the flow.
