Gerald is a really. nice guy and definitely a genius. I've seen him play in San Francisco a number of times, and he's always been fantastic. Very approachable.
An tr808, an SH101, a tb303 and an early mpc/sp1200 or some other sampler and they were making tunes that still get played 35 years later. No DAW, just joy of pressing buttons and twisting knobs and it still grooves now. Much better than the nonsense on radio today.
Pretty sure he used to come in Nova press in Manchester where I worked as a trainee printer in the mid late 90's we used to print Club flyers for places like sanky's soap and stuff, a lot with 808 state highlighted. seem to remember him but it might not have been. its a long time :D I was only 16 back then I'm 41 now.
