@@aayushashokkashyap thank you! I’m a bit busy doing advent of code atm but will definitely be doing another cobol session soon!

Interesting vid, much better than the first try! To me, coming from the 3270 emulation side, it's amazing how foreign the mainframe looks from the gui side. The only thing familiar was the JOB output. By the way, it's called a JOB. JCL is not a JOB, JCL is a collection of statements that make up a JOB. (These days people seem to use JCL for JOB, but maybe you can start a trend here.) Your JOB had two cards because it had a JOB card (technically a JOB statement) and an EXEC (execute) card (EXEC statement) that executed the PROC (procedure) ZXP$$CHK which is a member of a PDS with the validate step in it. That's enough of JCL for right now but you will come back to it later when you need to execute your programs, and for file handling where you will connect program inputs and outputs to DDNAMEs in your JCL. (By the way, DDNAMEs are names of your choosing, up to 8 characters. I had a friend who liked to use BUBBA for his names.) I'm sure the course will cover these things later. Keep exploring and have fun!

@@GrnScrn omg sensei ! Would love to have your help as I continue , but ofc no pressure lol (but do join my discord lol) but back to your comment, I’d love to explore the 3270 terminal. Seems neat

@@ellyse7777 I looked at some vids on 3270 and found a couple I liked that I added to a playlist on my channel. The first one pertains more to DB2 but it is very good in how everything is explained. The other one has COBOL examples. th-cam.com/play/PL0SRNlQMNzEaHI5e78YwENmjcV9pEznrI.html&si=RDaLn2yG1wyTg0FH

Not learning COBOL in uni, C++, C#, Java. But I'm definitely on board to see how this turns out!
