Thank you for teaching me oil painting. I dabbled in some of it back in highschool, but I love the versatility and mixing qualities of oil. Your videos are helping me create the things I've always seen in my head. Thank you.
@DrawMixPaint It is so nice to get your notification! I've been in an awful slump for over a year. I'm reminded that I have your paints in my studio. (Like butter, btw) That's another reason to get back at it. My sister is a professional portrait painter in the technique of Sargent. She is soo good! I sent her your links and she uses them. I think I feel that since I'm not as good as she is, what's the point? Well, I know that thinking defies logic and is childish. I've been praying for the determination to get back to the canvas. Perhaps this video is the ticket!👩🏼🎨
Hello Mr. Carder I don’t know if you remember me or not but you came up to me about painting me in Vandiver Alabama . I sure wish I would have done it but I was so shy and nervous
I remember this from color theory in college. Isn’t there an artist who actually painted these theories as artwork? I’m glad you discussed the canvas, think I have asked a couple times about the canvas you used whether it’s pre primed. Another tutorial on how you stretch your canvas would be fantastic. I learned to staple on the back with French folds for the corners, but I think I noticed that you staple on the sides. So now I understand that your canvas die or stain matches your pallets. - makes perfect sense now. I am new to your channel.

Terrific video as usual! I sometimes think my favorite part of painting is toning my canvas.
This is helpful! Thank you!

Hello 🙏 How are you today ❤
Very informative video. Thank you 😊
The best video to teach this particular point. Nice one!
Thank you very much. Great vídeo 👍👍👍
Paint on a stained canvas but leave your flesh parts white for vibrancy in the flesh tones.
That sounds like a great tip. Thanks.
Wouldn't it still be good on a stained canvas? Or no?
@@akazawayuki984 no in a thousand years it will show through
Good tip.
Thakyou for putting useful vids out.
Thank you. 👍. What is the benefit of using foundation white? And do you recommend letting the stain dry before painting?
Any plans on restocking the palettes and their holders?
How do you feel about painting on MDB/board or whatever it's called?
Thank you for great video. I learned a lot from your videos. I use Neutral Grey primer from Michael Harding to avoid white canvas/board.

Hello 🙏 How are you today ❤
Excellent tip! Thaks.
Thanks!..Amazing! tutorial.
Great video. The dirty green looked the same colour to me, on each background. Mayb a little greyer on the third one. Cheers Graham.
Thank you.
I'm curious, why does it have to be a foundation white, so that it's more opaque? Thank you
Does the stain color remain the same for cool toned and warm toned paintings?
Get two gessoes: black and white. Mix them together to get the grey color of the desired intensity. cover your canvas in 2-3 layers. Bingo!
I’m assuming this can apply to acrylic paints as well?
Dood your technique is teaching me to see color better so I’m not falling for the color illusions lol
Can some one tell me a name of a good book for oil paniting tehics, all the sicret mediums and recepis for oil painting ?
hey mark, should i thin my paint with oil medium right after i buy it ? really confuse :’)
thank you
thank you so much
Can you please do a video if it can ever be possible making a living through art alone? And if so, then how to sell one's art and get it recognized?
Perhaps the more general tip would be to choose a background color which represents the average color of the scene.
