Thank you everyone for your kind words and wonderful feedback. I apologize im not the most "proper" horse person, but I do what I know and I know what I do :) enjoy!
I get it but when I was taught, they said sit up no matter what cuz if u fall off u will get very hurt if ur leaning back cuz this person at the barn I ride at fell off an broke their arm cuz they were leaning back I just don't want anyone to get hurt.😐
To all those people who are hating and saying that there is no grass and it's wet, it's WINTER! I live in California we never have grass because there is a drought going on. And we have dirt everywhere so the horses are not in a bad place. BTW, awesome video
Honestly people, who cares how clean her yard is?! The important thing is she clearly loves her horse and the feeling is mutual. Great video, love your pony. Go you :) xx
At the beginning of the video I was like "That horse looks like it's not been groomed in forever!" Then you started grooming it and I fangirled over the fact that it's a curly haired horse.
You know what? Scroll down and read what I have to about this place being dirty, and this horse having all sorts of diseases, or the way I ride, I really do not care anymore, if people want to read the comments and see where be posted MANY times. This place gets damp in the river, and what you don't see in the video are the dry warm stalls and the 12 acre meadow. Marley is also a Baskir Curly cross, her hair is curly, she is hypoallergenic. So. If you talk shit, what should you expect back? Don't complain to me about this video that was just an application for a job. So I'm right. You all need to re evaluate yourselves. And as for cantering after trotting for a few laps, that won't do anything wrong, I rode her before the video even started, you really give horses a bad name when you start worrying about all of this stuff, these horses are healthy and happy, they are quite capable of getting through a rainy day and being ridden for 10 seconds. Christ.
Jesus Christ guys, she isn't mother nature! Do you guys not get the concept of seasons? You know Winter? It rains, snows in Canada (i'm in Australia), muddy etc. You guys need to calm down and enjoy the video. Her horse is in excellent condition besides a bit of mud. So when your horse has mud on it you wouldn't want to be abused? It IS JUST MUD! Shut up and watch the video! Oh my god.
Dont lean so back when you are cantering I have a well trained tracher and she rids and she does not lean that far back you might fall off just helping 👌
Idk how anyone can comment on this video saying that these horses have a poor life (just read down in the comments) they get to go outside, run around and do generally what horses do! Stuff like this makes me angry! At least they aren't cooped up in a stable all day everyday, so take your mean comments and save them for someone who deserves them.
Omg so many stupid comments on this video. There is no grass but are the horses skinny? NO! Yes there is mud but are the horses full of deasieses and are they sick? NO! Her horse is happy and from what I can see fully healthy. Some people are just rude and saying some unneeded nasty comments
Thank you for this Savannah, I enjoyed watching the neat unhurried way that you tacked up and your good interaction with your horse, and you are a "proper horse person". Happy trails!
Savannah you did a great job. Just ignore the rude comments. Canada has winter and your stables are perfectly normal. So? Who cares if they aren't fancy?! The horses are living in a normal environment, and they are used to cold weather and snow. If they have a problem and think that it is dirty, gross, blah blah blah , whatever! I live in Canada and also love it. I can't stop watching this video! Lol!
Sarah Acton Rinaldo Yeah because those big fancy stables can run from 1 to 2,000 dollars A MONTH!! I wouldn't pay that for a fancy stall there are thousands of horses living in poop covered kill pens and auction houses starving and being hit and chased but they comment that SHE is cruel! I love Curly horses but I do have to say they are INCREDIBLY hard to keep clean and she is doing an amazing job!!
Thank you so much for posting this vid!! I've been looking for ages for a " all in one video" on horse care like this!!! I think you've done a great job and really appreciate your work :-))
I know this video has alot of hate but I love this vid you did a great job and it helped me alot I don't understand anything you did wrong I have watched it twice there's so much info thanks!(:
Hey, I don't know much about western riding, but I think you did a very good job demonstrating. I ride saddleseat, and you have to worry about the mortengale, and we brush our horses a different way, but your tutorial is a very good basic video for people to learn. Great job!
Thank you.this video really helped me. I love horses and I'm going to get one this summer and I didn't really know how to tack up a horse. I love curly horses, I know a girl who has one and he's the sweetest boy you ever did see
Ignore all the rubbish, the video is brilliant and the horse is so pretty my yard is the same and gets muddy in rain and our fields don't have much grass. Love your videos❤️
You so rarely get to see Bashkir Curleys used as riding ponies (most people want 'normal horses'), but Marley is so adorable, I can't see why people would want otherwise! Awesome tutorial too, very informative.
Honestly when I brush my horse I use a main and tail brush and curry comb and the hard brush and it's perfectly fine to do instead of all that stuff you don't really need
You don't pick the hooves? You should. Horses get rocks, mud, sticks, and everything else. If they are left in while you ride the horses hoof could get injured from the rock or something poking in his hoof. Always pick your horses feet once a day!!!
I love this video because it explains the entire routine from catching a horse to riding it. I actually have a job for a trail riding place and this is what I have to do. 😊
You look like a very good rider so please don't take this the wrong way but when you where tacking up and you set the saddle on her you kind of trough it on her, and when you mounted you dropped on her back, I don't think you would try to do that. Like I said before please don't get mad you look like a very good rider.
This video is so helpful and the horse is so beautiful, I really admire how much you care for her and the other horses you may have :) this helped me a lot as I have a job riding my aunts Clydesdale as she is expecting a baby soon, I needed to know how to do this before hand :) you really helped me and ignore the haters! Thanks ❤️Ainsley.
i really love this video!! finally another horse person💜 you know what your doing!! every equestian does stuff different you should be proud of this video btw it helped me out a lot when I was beginning :)

I have a question for you Savannah Jones. What do you do if you're horse keeps on doing what the horse wants and wont listen to you because my horse named Jase he was bobbing his head up and down and snorting with NO bit in his mouth and he did nothing to do with me and i'm scared that he can buck me off and he's fully trained and he reared and freaked out and i'm just a beginner rider only 1 time i've ridden him the first time he did whatever I wanted him to do witch it was my first ridding lesson. And the time when he did whatever HE wanted to do it was at his new boarding place and it was on his third week there please tell me what i'm doing wrong, he's my first horse in my life and I don't know if my girth was to tight or the girth was to loose or the bridle was bothering him because he didn't do ANYTHING LIKE THAT on my lesson day and I barley knew him the lesson was on the day after the day that I first met him. We have bonded i don't know if he's scared or nervous. I'm REALLY scared and he loves kids and i'm a kid. My parents weren't sure what to do one option that they choose for me is wait until next lesson with more things to learn or to tell me to sell him back to his original owner and I don't want to and the final choice they said was to have the original owner to train him a little bit more in the round pen there and i'm VERY scared and my mom almost had to ride him and when an adult rides him he panics and bucks and my riding instructor said "Before I throw you're kid on Jase I need to test him" and he bucked and kicked and almost knocked me out and I don't know what to do.... Please respond my parents don't know because it's my first time owning a horse/pony and my parents don't know what to do.... PLEASE HELP ME I DON'T WANT TO GIVE HIM UP BECAUSE I'M NOT GOOD ENOUGH! Thanks Sincerely, Emilie Steinborn 1/30/2015 5:14 P.M.
Well, I'd recommend a bit and a martingale we use those for my high strung mustang, and a crop will help, don't worry if you use it correctly then it will just be a light tap if the DOESNT work the use Spurs instead
Another thing you might need in the summer is a sweat scraper ( for getting all the water off when you give them a bath) and some sponges (for cleaning the tack and places where the hose can't reach the ears face etc.)
Are western saddles more complicated to tack up than English, they look harder because English you just do up the girth and with western it looks trickier
Well, it matters I ride both so, Western you have to do a lot less but I guess it is more complicated. English you have to do a lot more but it is less complicated. You know what I'm saying?
Frost Night | Video Productions I get you my saddle probably weighs well over 40 pounds and my horse is 16 hands high the other one is 14/15! and neither are very patient
Now i know how to tighten a western saddle, i have to thank you. Because when i was in Horse lessons i could never figure out how to the saddle even though my teacher showed me and helped me i could never do it and i have to say your horse is really pretty
1. You dont HAVE to lunge you only lunge if your horse is crazy, if you havent ridden it in a while, or if your horse is sore. 2. when you halter your horse make sure you do it from the left not the right side then itll be easier to clip the thing
The general rule is to Never put a knee on the ground, im fine, I can move out of the way quicker, this is the same for people who have back problems and cant bend over..
I love the video, it was really cool to see your horse, do you share her? Also I agree with you, I never lunge my horse unless it has been lame or something
Oh...have you seen my horse? It's an huge english horse and needed to mount her with stairs lol))))I am going on horse riding lessons from my 4 and i am one of the rare girls in Armenia that had tours to Germany and Russia! It is the best thing ever!!!!
When you taught how to ride step by step I feel more confident when going on trails. I rarely get go on any since I'm a suburban so I go to this horse place that accepts almost anything like riding lessons, horseback riding, trail rides, horse training, and horse boarding. Ive been trying to catch this mini mare that we are taking care of for 2 months. I have not succeed yet. I'm always so close to clipping the halter. But she backs away and lifts her head high. I'm not trying to force her yo do anything. Ima work with it tmr on the weekend. :)
Try not to throw the saddle on the horse Also when u r putting the saddle on, put the stirrup that is furthest away from you on the knob thingy otherwise it could make the horse want to go😂😂 Just suggestions I loved the video all together though!! And your horse is beautiful
Jessie_04 Listen. It's a western saddle, it's heavy so you're supposed to throw it over the horse and gently put it down. You're probably and english style rider, so I don't suppose you'll understand.
Don't use a hard brush on there legs or Nellie those are sensitive spots and they can be very tender sometimes so you want to use a soft brush or a face brush on the legs and stomach a soft brush is probably the better choice
Your meant to brush the legs of your horse with a hard brush if it has thick mud or is really dirty. Yes, I would use a softer brush but not a too soft brush! 😊
Meilin Adamski actually you can use a soft brush anywhere but the face the bristles are soft enough for the legs and it works really well on the legs and stomach to get off caked mud that a body brush can not get off.
Your horse is very rare to be a curly horse. You should be proud to have her. Curly horses are one of the most rarest horses in the world. By the way u did a great video and your stables look great, and so do u. By the way Marley is sooooo ❤️ beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
this is a great video, just focus on the good comments your a great rider there is always improvement ahead but even I know that everyone has different ways and the4 haters have to except that:)
Thank you everyone for your kind words and wonderful feedback. I apologize im not the most "proper" horse person, but I do what I know and I know what I do :) enjoy!

I thought so too

Nope not leasing, Marley was a friends horse, I have 3 of my own, I work with a herd of 32, been riding for 15 years.
The reason people think she is so nasty in the Beggining is because she's a curly horse. Haha she was born like that people lol😂

that is how her breed's coat is!! her coat is not abused it's how it's supposed to be

fandom trash BAHAHHA you must know NOTHING about horses and horse breeds! HAHA this is way too funny
One thing you must always do (mainly riding western) is the pull the front legs forward to get any bunched up skin free to prevent girth rubs.

Well, I'd recommend a bit and a martingale we use those for my high strung mustang, and a crop will help, don't worry if you use it correctly then it will just be a light tap if the DOESNT work the use Spurs instead
Amina Dubois Thanks so much!
Why did you throw the saddle on Marly?
Western saddles are really heavy and its quite hard to just slowly lift the saddle on the horse back. So it's easier just to gently throw it.
But also more painful
Stormy it's not painful to be gentle of course your not gonna litterly throw and drop but she throw/layed it on rhere
I LOVE her curls!!! 💞💞 she’s SOOO cuteee!
Another thing you might need in the summer is a sweat scraper ( for getting all the water off when you give them a bath) and some sponges (for cleaning the tack and places where the hose can't reach the ears face etc.)

For western riding, how come the reins are so long and are split? I know for that type of riding you hold the reins loose. They just look very long.
How many hands high is your horse? X
Try not to throw the saddle on the horse
Also when u r putting the saddle on, put the stirrup that is furthest away from you on the knob thingy otherwise it could make the horse want to go😂😂

I thought it was great. Your horse seems great. Peoples shouldn't say that stuff about you. Great video.
This video is about catching, grooming, tracking up and riding!!!!!! Quit commenting mean things! Anyway, this video really helped me ALOT.thank you
I love your horses so pretty and your a good rider and the People that are saying their ugly are rude so ignore them.👍🏻😁
@JerieRachal
Once again, no. Grass is definitely not an essential, more of a common luxury. Your horse will like it more, but will not die without it.
I've never seen a rein that goes over just one ear. I have seen it go over both ears. Is that something different?
A lot of western bridles are different some go over on ear some go over both and so just go around each ear
okay
Thanks for posting this! It's really good and helpful :)
girl be careful riding in mudd! horse can slip really easily and sometimes don't end very well! but good video!
Number one, it's sand, and number two, stated by Savannah, it's not slippery
Don't use a hard brush on there legs or Nellie those are sensitive spots and they can be very tender sometimes so you want to use a soft brush or a face brush on the legs and stomach a soft brush is probably the better choice
Just a tip
Your meant to brush the legs of your horse with a hard brush if it has thick mud or is really dirty. Yes, I would use a softer brush but not a too soft brush! 😊
I use a hard brush all over the body of my horse and she don't care I brush her legs with a hard brush because she wears boots for barrel racing
Meilin Adamski actually you can use a soft brush anywhere but the face the bristles are soft enough for the legs and it works really well on the legs and stomach to get off caked mud that a body brush can not get off.
Awe thank you so much! and I did! I start may first!! Im so excited, I have 25 horses to care for for 6 months :)
OMG that type of horse was in a video of rare horse breeds! Aww she’s so cute

@mijte yes the pad and saddle are forward not back
Your horse is very rare to be a curly horse.
They aren't rare, just expensive and not very popular to buy
