People cry to much, it’s preseason so get over it. He wanted to give everyone a chance to prove they deserve to be on a nfl roster. He said this in his first team meeting that he was going to give every player a chance to make this team or another NFL team. That’s a man of his word, it’s a lot of players going through training camp who don’t get these opportunities.
So why did the starters play zero snaps this preseason. So every other team must not know something cause every other team for the entire history of NFL the starters play at least a few drives in preseason

@@JoeDirt12500 you asked why and if you listened to the press conference you’ll get your answer. Y’all are arguing and complaining about your opinion of what a coach should do. He gave a clear answer on why a lot of players didn’t play. This is the Atlanta Falcons not 31 other NFL teams. Every organization does things different and that’s the reality. They said they weren’t going to play and they didn’t at this point get over it. They were able to evaluate younger talent to fill in the bottom half of there roster with depth. This team also cannot financially afford to make many more signings because of injury also. Yall don’t really care about the starters getting game reps in preseason. Yall just want to see the starters play right away to see how the team looks overall.

All you folks upset about pre-season need to remember theres guys fighting for a job. Why play guys you know are going to make the team. Give bubble players a chance to show why they deserve a spot on the team. Plus you dont risk getting your starters hurt. Think about how 2 pre-season injuries put the great Gale Sayers out of the game. Winning in pre-season dont mean squat. Losing starters effects the rest of your season.

@@SaVarMatner Relax. I'm 60. Though I don't remember it (I was 2), I went to my first Falcon game at FCS on 9/11/66. That's right - their very first regular season game. I remember going to games from '67 onward, and have been a season ticket holder for a number of years. Same with the Braves & the Hawks (my parents were/are sports freaks).
I've experienced ALL the pain this franchise has gone through. There very DEFINITELY is an "ATL curse." 28-3 was one of the worst days of my life. I really hope we have something to show this year, but it's kind of hard for me to get my hopes up too high. They've stabbed me too many times. Our lack of depth right now is a concern, because we all know that we're going to have injuries. And almost without fail - we have injuries to our best players.
So forgive the negativity on my part. I've earned it. Preseason games DO matter, because when the good players go down, we have to rely on these guys. Last night tells me that we've got problems if one or more of our good players go down!

Falcon fans just need to have patience . I can already see it coming . Their toughest part of schedule " seems" to be 1st 3 games. They have - at least- solid skill players and now a really good qb who seems to be getting better with age but will be 10 months removed from an achillies rupture.
All things may not hit the ground running but eventually - will . 17 game season so a talented team could start 2-4 and no panic .
Flip side - if this version of falcons finds itself at 4-2 ( let's say) then they definitely need ear plugs and blinders cause the hype will get real and just focus week to week.
I'm not even trying to be mean.. but some of yall in these comments need to be, you know, smarter. Good grief.
Edit: would it have been nice for the starters to get a couple series in the pre-season? Sure. Do I think he was being smart by being cautious? Absolutely. Our starters and some depth are already set. Finding more depth plus giving other players auditions/chances to make the team or another team is a smart, nice, good move.

Support the team or go cheer for another one. We do not want, nor need, dead weight fans. Better yet, you some-timey fans, that cheer when we are on top but hide when we lose a few. Just as bad as those fake sponsors that show commercials of us when we are on top and show none for weeks if we lose a few.
I'll be at all home games and a few away games. I've been a fan for 27 going on 28 years, and until they throw dirt on me, I will ride with them if we are 0-17 or 17-0, and that's a fact.

We were playing 2nd team, so I’ll ignore the score. And I understand the pre-season philosophy. That said, Raheem’s optimism will wear thin fast if after eight to nine games the Falcons are below .500. If that’s the case - which I expect and hope that it won’t be - the Geoff Collins comparisons are going to start to pop up.

For all of those people defending the fact that we didn't play our starters throughout all of the preseason games. Bear in mind the results of the regular season when Arthur Smith didn't play his starters throughout the preseason. It wasn't good. In week one we put up 6 points. Which was two field goals. Who was the first 7 to 10. Will most of our losses came at home.
If you're not going to play your regular folks a few reps, then don't sell tickets to the home game, Arthur... open it up free to the fans. I don't have 80 bucks laughing around for a game only to find out 3 weeks later that, in the very least, we can't see a one or two quarterback. I was not a happy camper sitting in the stands watching no effort on the field.
Y’all better not be surprised when injuries start mounting up cuz they had em go from rested to full throttle w/o easing them into gameshape. This mite be an all time backfire.

Team chemistry, cohesion, timing, techniques, and more. Which team looked like they were ready for week one? For your one’s to not get any playing time in the preseason means they will have figure it out week 1 and maybe week 2. Atlanta’s first four games are a gauntlet and all but hardcore fans will tune out and call for Raheem’s head. You’re asking us to trust his process and yet he’s shown us nothing.

He gets 2 key defensive players hurt the first preseason game and the very next play of the next preseason game his kicker is down there making a tackle on the kick off, NO WAY that should have happened. How can he not have enough sense to tell Koo, do not tackle just kick the ball and run off the field. It is completely senseless and useless.
With all that talent he should be fired if they do not make the NFC championship game. They should do great this year and each year for the next several years but it will have nothing to do with Raheem Morris. He has already proven that he is nothing special as a head coach. If so a few years ago when he was a head coach he would have taken those average players he coached and made them into winners.
I heard his first locker room speech at the Falcons facility and it was so underwhelming. Not motivating at all. Arthur Blank is a joke. He had the chance to hire a high caliber proven head coach and he goes hire the coach with a losing record. What a pathetic owner. They lost a lot of fans when they hired him. But they also gained a lot when they hired Cousins and all the other additions.

I will say you are wrong. We did not play one starter besides the Punter and LS. We did not win a preseason game in 2016 either when we last went to the Super Bowl. Our starters are hungry,at least I'd be lol

It is hard to win games in the NFL. It is easy to lose games in the NFL. What matters is getting to the big game and winning it. So once again, what assumption validate your assessment?

Are we eliminated for playoff contention yet?
Are all of our starters fresh and slated to start week 1?
