Apparently they get along well and respect each other so they may be able to work together. Bill put up with a lot with Kraft something Parcells couldn't do. Bill liked the job and wanted to keep it so he let Kraft change to a collaborative draft. Bill didn't want Mac Jones, but Kraft's collaborative group did so they took him. Bill then wanted to trade Jones, but Kraft wouldn't let him. Even after all that, Bill may have stayed if Kraft let him. Everyone that works with Belichick says that he is very open to other people's ideas and will often go with them. He isn't a tyrant like many people believe. Just looking at his skills and comparing him to Brissett. We already know Brissett isn't a good starting qb and is just a placeholder. Maye has shown that he can make all kinds of throws with a strong arm and good accuracy. He's shown that he can run and that he can throw on the run. He's shown that he can handle the pocket pretty well and isn't rattled easily. These things are easy to evaluate in these games. None of these things say how good he will be and I'm sure he still has a lot to learn. It also doesn't say how consistent he will be or how he will handle pressure situations at the end of games. All we can do is evaluate his general talents and they are obviously ahead of what Brissett can do. Everyone knows Brissett is just a placeholder, the only question is when to put Maye in. Nothing more complicated than that.

Look at Joe Burrow. He had arguably the worst OL in football and he changed the entire franchise around in less than 2 years. Patriots have a tough decision to make and could likely cost Mayo his job.
