Discussions of lgbtq people were relegated to talkshows like Jerry Springer and Oprah Winfrey, often depicted controversially and negatively. Madonna allowed her lgbtq dancers to be who they were--unapologetically on full display and "normalized." These things could have ruined her career, but it didn't, and she didn't care.
