Yes, definitely, the collar should go up! I’m not an expert, but when you see a man in a suit the shirt collar stands up above the jacket. It is a cute kit and has lots of fun embellishments, but really only for a “white collar” type of fellow. My husband and brother are both in construction, my dad was a manager at a large manufacturing plant, so this isn’t what I’m used to seeing. I dated a “suit” once, decades ago, but that’s another story😀. Too bad the kit doesn’t have military and blue collar workers too. You made an effort to do your best and made a very cute card! TYFS.

Oh I like this set! And mine just arrived today! I think it's great she has introduced more male-oriented card kits. That's the beauty of the craft - something for everyone. I think your card is fabulous.
Great job, shows how talented you are to make something look good, even when you did not “feel it”. I love this kit, like so many of Anna’s followers we are constantly asking for male items to work with. Her original set like this was part of a cuttlebug set and came with a bow tie. I went from being a single parent of two girls to having a blended family with more males than I can count, and there is always something to create for. I use these items for my military family and friends as well as proms, graduations etc. so I think there are Many of us that will appreciate and use. This set. Thank you so much again for sharing your inspiration.
Oh, good morning Vianney! Love your card; it came together easily and nicely! ... and YES, the collar should be above the jacket edge. 'Cause that's both anatomically and sartorially correct! I'm not sure what the creatives at AG were thinking when they put the samples together...1 tip: Anna put 1 small dimensional under each shirt collar tab to pop it up!
I somehow thought I'd already seen you do a review of this kit, but then recalled that it was actually Anna Griffin who did a preview of the kit in the last (April) Finishing School Live event. It was then I made the decision to receive this kit, as I'd already chosen to skip it. But Anna really showed us how to make the most of it!
And for me, purchasing it was a wise decision: I have a balance of male and female recipients, and finding kit materials that are elegant and NOT full of flowers and frills for my buds (who are all seniors like myself, sometimes quite "dapper", not sports fiends, and kinda geeky/nerdy) is super challenging.
For those who expect AG to do anything other than high-falutin' formal reproductions of the ages past, well, let's love her for what she excels at and just accept and agree that "casual" is not really in her wheelhouse.
•My fix:•. I've got several of those Karin Jones Missees dies/stamps sets from HSN in my stash, including the MAN sets; those have the dies for casual & dress shirts, beards, glasses, bowties, and even a head! Mix and match!
For those wanting the paper/card bases: Anna showed card bases/envelopes that she/HSN are calling "Beaux Regards", that are the same as those in this finishing school kit. Lovely! They come in Slimline, Square, and 5x7 TOP FOLDING packs of 36.

YES! I agree....the collar should be UP ABOVE the jacket. And for a man's jacket it should be left side over the right (as you are wearing it and look down at it.) ~Janice

Anna has other masculine components for making cards that are cheaper and make a better looking card. Also using fewer steps. If your viewers want this kit I can almost guarantee it will eventually go on clearance. Save some money and wait. Excited for Tuesday. I want the antique train and almost everything Diamond Press is offering. Stamps By Me is also presenting a few great stamp sets. I hate having to choose....not fair. Thanks Vianney. I love this set. I wish I could afford it. I have 2 Sons, 2 Grandsons, and soon will have a Grandson-in-law to make cards for. It's hard to find nice things to use for masculine cards.

The suit dies are nice, but maybe a polo shirt and t shirt too would have been more universally usable. A fisherman vest, cap and helmet would be a good add on too

Thank you for the wonderful lesson. Just an FYI regarding the instruction sheet you showed in your demonstration. I just watched the Finishing School classes and the instruction sheet Anna showed in her unboxing was different. It had the typical four page instructions and examples along with the code format that is usually included with the boxes. Also, I agree. The collar should be higher!

I did skip this one. I did not see enough in it to be something I would use. It is rather Victorian looking. I like the suit down below the collar. All the dies look confusing to me. You are a trooper for making a card with it. Hope you feel better soon.
I love this set. If you ever decide to destash this set think of me. We live right in the middle of Auffet Airforce Base in Bellevue, NE. Hear lots of jets and they do a lot of training. Love the sounds of the planes. Not so much the jets. They make my teeth rattle. I think I have found an outlet for selling my cards. I have so many, I’d love to share them. Thanks for sharing. I am tempted by this set, because I have nothing like it. Of course, part of why I have nothing like it is because it isn't something I would use a lot. Oddly enough, if it were a card kit without the dies I think I be more ok with it (and the presumed lower cost😀). I'd make the few cards I wanted to and not be stuck with dies I'd never use again. As to the collar, I think it should be lower! TFS!
I really like this card. I can see this being used to ask a friend to be a groomsman, used as a congrats card for a promotion, a Men in Black party themed invitation, a retirement card for someone in the business world. It’s really cute.
Great ideas! None of those things are occasions I have had or may not have for a long off time (girl, we eloped!! LOL!). I'll use the papers and ephemera up a different way, they are really nice! The glasses!!! So cute. (:

I got my Bunny Bow Butt die today 🤩 ! Once the finishing school code paper was under the "drawer" thingy in the box 🙂 it was clinging to the bottom pretty good. Oh I think it's awesome you're making a male card. You could totally make that dress blues military 🎖️ with scrap paper. I prefer the collar up higher, definitely. But you card looks great 🤩

I have this kit, but haven't used it yet. I agree, I feel like the suit sides need to be lower, up they look like the guy is shrugging his shoulders, lol. Anyway, your card is great, considering you were not feeling it :)
You hang in there! Good going. I actually like the set but it is a bit much of it. Most likely I would make about 3 cards and give the rest of it to my Sunday school class to play with. I’m always surprised at what they come up with with my left overs.
Well being the opinionated "metiché" that I am, I vote for how the box shows the collar should be! AND while I'm throwing around opinions, girl for someone who was not a fan of this kit the caard you made is AMAZING JOB! I really do LOVE IT!

Sorry your not feeling so great. Me either. I think this one of her best thought out designs and such cool embellishments. I think the big flaw is limiting it to a dress jacket! Also like you I have no use for male cards. I ordered from Spellbinders second time today because I bought the glimmer plate BECAUSE YOU MADE IT LOOK SO NEAT. Bought mine at Hobby Lobby for $75! I don't think I understand how I make HSN know when I'm ordering and you deserve credit....! Collar up!
I should have skipped this one, but since I didn't...I really came to like it. I think you're right, the set would have been better if it made at least two types of shirts/tops/jackets, whatever. LOL!! Maybe a polo and the jacket. Enjoy your Glimmer, I am blown away by it! I wonder if the one you grabbed at HL was the first version...I don't know the difference between the newer one I got sand the first version (other than pricing). As far as HSN and affiliates, all you have to do is click any of the links I provide that go to HSN and it will "refresh" the relationship. First, yeah, the jacket should be down below the collar. Second, I like the kit. I wish I could buy the card bases and the paper. I love AG dies but am not a fan of her floral and antique papers. These card bases fall into the clean and elegant style I craft more with. But, I have other suit dies, so I won't be adding this one.

Nice job. Mine just arrived a little while ago. I haven't opened yet and will likely return. I hear you, I had also planned to skip this one as I don't have the need for formal masculine cards. By the time it was on my radar, I got the notice it had shipped. I have so much Christmas stuff, I don't need that one either, so need to stop that and just let the last one in the autoship come.
The same for me! But after watching this video, I have decided to keep it when it arrives. Vianney sold me! I sell my cards at the beauty shop I go to every Friday!
@Stepanie McKnight Yes, Vianney's tutorial was great and I personally love the classy look, but I am sorry to say I have not seen a man dressed like that in many years. Even before I retired in 2020, the engineers at work were doing customer calls in polo shirts and carrying computer backpacks. And lately unless specified as "black tie", outside of the wedding party, male guests seem to prefer just a shirt and slacks. Even at funerals, jacket, open collar shirt and cowboy boots appear to be dominant attire. Maybe I should keep as a collector's item of a bygone era in male attire. Sigh...☹️
I had gotten a notification a few days ago from HSN saying my shipment will be running approximately 45days behind. I’m so glad, now I can cancel as it’s not my style either.

I had cancelled this one from auto ship 2 years ago. Yet today, I found out Anna has put them in our $40.00 mystery boxes claiming its worth $80.00. No one at my age wears suits (unless its for funerals) or carries briefcases. I will use some of the embellishments and slimline cards for other things. I can't believe in your comments how many people liked this. Maybe they have guys that actually wear suits
This set was quite niche, wasn't it? It is a cool design, but like you said...I really don't have anyone in my life that wears suits for work or otherwise.
In Anna's defense, she doesn't do casual or plain. She said she loves old world fashion. So, hats, ties, and pocket squares are included. Personally, I love when men wear suits. They all look so dashing and debonair. And you can always make it more casual, leave out the tie, making it look like a shirt with a blazer, I guess. But then, what would you substitute for the ties?
Oh, we know Anna goes all in! LOL! Personally, my people just aren't suit wearing people. More uniforms and farm clothes. It's a cool design, and at the end I really like the result. I was wondering why I was getting recent comments on this old video...you all received it in the new mystery box program?

I remembered a few months ago when you said that "You were going to cancel that shipment." I did cancel mine after you said that. But yours really did turn out nice.
I guess I said I would, but hadn't yet. Sometimes it can take a few days after ordering for the Autoship to show up in the AS manager tab. I must have forgot. Bummer! It is a nice set, just don't know how often I'll use it. TYSM!!
