52 years later, it's unbelievable how appropos this song still is. And the irony of it is, it's exactly because we started singing songs like these in the 60's and 1970, and asking the very questions asked in this album, that the men in their mighty mine machines dug in and starting digging deeper, as fast as they could, and are still fighting tooth and nail to insure they can keep digging, until the whole world falls into the hole they have made. I'm not in agreement with the needless bashing of John Lodge. The Hayward/Lodge composition "When You Wake Up" from Bluejays was worth the price. Having said that, Hayward/Pinder could have been an exceptional project.

I got some flack from some people in another thread about just that: A Hayward-Pinder collaboration instead of Lodge for a Bluejays timeframe. Pinder was a great writer and decent singer. What could have been, we will never know. One thing is certain it would probably have been better than the weak "Bluejays" stuff of which I was not impressed.

Pinder+Hayward were the Moody Blues, and evidently they actually helped the others with there ideas, writing and arranging most of the early tracks and then giving them to the others. I often wonder instead of Blue Jays, what a Pinder, Hayward solo would have been like, if only Lodge had not got in the way. I'm sure it would have been fab, but we can only imagine now.
Yeah but a Pinder, Hayward project was very likely as Hayward went over to Indigo Ranch to collaborate with mike on a solo venture in 1975. However, John Lodge and tony Clark turned up, but Pinder took Hayward aside and said "I only want to work with you on a project otherwise im out of it". So we got Blue Jays. The Lodge tracks are sugary rubbish. but can u imagine the Hayward tracks with a Pinder collaboration, it would have bee a super album.

However, John Lodge and tony Clark turned up, but Pinder took Hayward aside and said "I only want to work with you on a project otherwise im out of it". So we got Blue Jays. The Lodge tracks are sugary rubbish. but can u imagine the Hayward tracks with a Pinder collaboration, it would have bee a super album.

Lodge was a decent bass player and wrote a few good songs but a weak singer.

i am always a Pinder fan... Pinder & Hayward songs are most of the time my fave of the band...
Hayward was the best, Pinder was great also and the others not too shabby either.
I can pick out an all time masterpiece from each original member. Mike songs always seem relevant now as if time stood still.
@@avatarfindon't thinck so they were 5 and more Tony + Dereck to made this music ,everyone added his touch ,everyone was in charge of something ,press relations, tours organisations ,matériels PA instruments availabilities and so on ,other one Threshold label, Mike was in charge the moodies' sounds and " direction" ....Sure Mike & Justin help very much the 4 others to wrote stuffs without asking for copyrights ,this is pretty heardable ,all five brought something with their unique musicianship.
