I had to move quite rural to get gigabit, go figure. If I go a hundred meters or so one direction then the best I can get is satellite internet... lucked out there.
Yeah, I've considered StarLink and the like but it's really only the upstream bandwidth that's limiting for my use. I keep hearing rumours that gigabit is coming to the village so fingers crossed... 🤞
Looks like fun, Rees! FWIW - I have found that my systems behind glass in full hot sun actually get sun bleached and have brightened up over time. However, I think we have all seen the systems with yellow on one side that was probably facing a window. So, your mileage may vary. Perhaps some long term tests are in order 😀
I think the light is what triggers the yellowing, but continued exposure to brighter light keeps it bleached. I have an old plastic towel rail in my bathroom, and have noticed it's got significant yellowing on one side - but it's the side that faces away from the window. It's a bit counter-intuitive - the light both causes and prevents the yellowing!

Ironically sunlight is used to "retro bright" case to get rid of the yellowing. I did a huge experiment with all that a few years back. My falcon has been out of sunlight for years on top of my cupboard covered up and it's gone really yellow anyway.
Yeah, I have a few machines that have been stored in complete darkness that have also yellowed! I should do a video on that at some point...

That looks wonderful! And I’m sure it was quite a bit of work on your part! Here in the USA, there’s a lot of empty office space, due to people working from home.
Yeah, I think that's the case here too. This one has been empty for over a year now. Thankfully the landlord is a fellow retro computing enthusiast and loves what I've done with the space - I'll go into a bit more detail in the next update.

Hey Reece, at 7.28 of the video, your assistant Sam wiring up a server box. Where is that black glass door case from? I've been looking for something like that to put my consoles into.
I'm not sure to be honest, it's just the server rack / comms cabinet that came with the building. I shall have to see if the landlord remembers...
@@ctrlaltrees That would be great. So far I've been looking at hifi racks, the closest I found to what I want is, the BDI 8222 audio tower, but that costs £1500. I never thought about server racks. I'll keep a look out myself as well. Thanks Mate
