I follow lots of Indy filmmakers and smaller productions and it never ceases to amaze me the results Steve gets just by himself and honestly your production value is just way better than whole crews working together.
Super fun! I love combining practical and digital effects. I create stop motion animation films for a toy company and I use techniques like these all the time.
Every tutorial of yours is a masterpiece. So much practical things being taught that even I am an archviz artist but your technique inspire me to use VFX in my animation.
Nicely done! The model does limit things, but I'm betting if you had more time to tweak things, the result can be excellent. It made me wonder about layering edits and textures to the model to make it look more realistic. But I have no idea how much that would do to file size.
Hi, from the USA, Steve. I have seen your videos and they are really wonderful. So, I have a request. I know you have many miniature and forced perspective stuff, but I have been fascinated with hanging miniatures, especially from the 1925 chariot race in Ben-Hur to Things To Come. Can you recreate this in some way?
my biggest issue is the (for this particular shot, not the process) that the background moves straight to the side while the car is angled towards the camera. This would cause objects to get smaller as they go away.. this shot should have been filmed from the side or another background video used. Using a wiggle expression would have helped sell the illusion and some color matching.. still a good tutorial on the basics of how to do this
TNice tutorials is by far, the best tutorial I have found so far. I feel like I’ll be spending a lot of ti on your channel! Thanks man! Keep up the good
Hey awesome stuff cant wait to try this !!! What camera slider are you using? I saw it in the background a couple of times. I have a Lumix S5 and have been tearing through youtube looking for answers. Thanks !!!
I was attempting something similar, and realized that the depth of field concerns could be minimized by shooting from a greater distance with a longer lens.
You could also mount the model car on a magic arm from the camera in the same location that you shoot the background plate. That way you get more realistic lighting and reflections.
When I watched this video I thought about the methods they used for the old Need for Speed games and how they filmed actors driving cars in the FMV cutscenes, If I had some experience with VFX I could probably create my own cutscenes for a street racing game using this method. Awesome job man.
Thanks for the video, but a question: did you make a videos about the exploding factory (in the theme song)? I'd be interested in put a factory model in the real life (or in a 3d environment) with VFX.
Simply The best and the clearest tutorials i could ever find in whole TH-cam

The car itself is too motionless. No vibration movements or wiggling or anything. You could tell it's parked.
Let you show us the motion full one and the wiggling one! You’re null
