I just tried to remove underneath glovebox cover and I am close to breaking a support thing that is in the middle of that cover, I am not sure the purpose of that thing though. It does not seem to do anything but its a vertical pillar that needs to go behind a motor/blower.
This is the only one that needs detailed instructions so that may be why this video doesn’t show the other one. This is my second time replacing the filters myself and this one wasn’t any easier. I ended up with a big gash from trying to wedge myself into the floor of the car enough to see what I was doing.
Guess because I’m thinking there may be 2 of these cabin air filters….. but maybe my wife’s 2019 is totally different I hope after watching this guy do all that work and still not have the right filter up in there lol. *** Anyways, (if you are like myself, and bought the wife the one that was going extinct after the 2020 or 21 maybe or whatever they said), **(garbage because they are ACTUALLY BRINGING THIS MODEL BACK… and POSSIBLY ONLY AS AN ELECTRIC BASED MODEL I HEAR!!!) *****ANY WHO…., TO GET TO THE ACTUAL POINT OF THE PATH IM TRYING TO GET DOWN TO & EXPLAIN TO EVERYONE IN THIS COMMENT LOL!!!!*** this or our 2019 GLC 300 BASE AMG PACKAGE W/O MOTOR😅😢, has it so easy to pop the hood and walk around to the PASSENGER SIDE OF WHERE YOU WILL TURN THE PLASTIC PIECE TO A UP RIGHT POSITION, WHICH WILL LET YOU TAKE THE BASE PLASTIC PIECE FROM THE TOP SIDE OF THE OTHER PLASTIC BASES, that HIDES YOUR BATTERY: ****** BENEATH THE MAIN POINT OF THE STORY & PART WE HAVE BEEN WAITING ON & THAT IS THE CABIN AIR FILTER**** that will be introduced to you upside down inside of the black plastic base!!!! *** ^^^ snap the left side tab out of the tab hole on left & then do the right the same ways….. AFTER ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TAKE THE FILTER BOX AND CAREFULLY LIFT THE BACK OF THE FILTER BOX WITH FILTER PRESSED INSIDE OF IT FROM 3- 4 tabs on each side you’ll see in the middle and outer part of the filter itself AND BRING IT UP ON THE BACK SIDE AND POP THE FILTER BOX OFF THE TABS ALIGNING IT ON THE FRONT MIDDLE SIDE OF THE BOX & you know what. For this whole doings. I’m going to make a full on video tomorrow. & also I will have the best oil known to man in my video so please stay tuned. I’ll even give my explanation to why I put this LONG ACEE IN THE HOLE TEXTED OF A COMMENT ON THIS VIDEO. ALL PROPS TO THE GUY THAT DID THIS VIDEO THOUGH!!!! more than agreed, this cabin filter design is just outrageous. Why that finicky sliding tab!? Why not just an integrated design or just two bolts 😢
Yes, what a hassle with that sliding lock. You also have to crush the filter to slide it in. What a poor design.

If OEM knows this is usual maintenance, why do they make it so complicated. The dealers charge so much of money in labor to get this done.

Is the method you show same in 2017 GLC300?
I think the 2018 Mercedes Benz GLC 200 has two cabin filters. The one you replaced her and another under the hood.
