Thank you SO much for this video. Extremely helpful! I’m amazed that with the great help, I was able to completely clean my Dyson V11 - the before and after is remarkable.
I was determined to get the plastic shield looking clean. A damp rag did not do the job. So, I used a Mr. Clean scrub sponge. It did a great job on the the shied.
If you clean ALL the dust off the rubber gaskets, the bin will be hard to open and close. It actually uses the dust as a dry lubricant. After the gaskets are FULLY dry rub a small amount of talcum powder on the gaskets and you’re set.
It’s easier to initially clean out the High Torque head with a small paint brush. Then after removing the beater, push a moist microfiber cloth behind the remaining roller with a chopstick or other blunt tool. Be patient. The gunk on the clear plastic comes off after a few rubs.
You need to make clear that cleaning the bin and seals may cause the bin opening mechanism to stick (you may have lucked out and did not have to do this but many people have been frustrated by this issue). As others in this thread have pointed out and other videos address, you need to rub talcum powder or corn starch on the bin seals after cleaning, otherwise the the soft silicone rubber will stick to the internal parts they are int contact with. The dust acts as a lubricant to allow the seals to slide across the internal parts.
The problem is that that inside of the motor unit builds up with dust and debris. Either the older Dyson’s like the DC25 you could run water through the entire assembly. A long bottle brush kind of works.
I want to know how to get ALL THE DAMN DUST out of the inside where you can’t clean. If I knock it on the side of the sink, TONS OF DUST DROPS OUT, but there’s no way to clean it?!
Very good video on deep cleaning. My problem is the roller bar will not spin and appears to be locked into position. The roller itself does not turn even when manually trying to turn it. Once the end piece is in Unlock position, the bar will not move out of the casing head. I'm afraid to get too aggressive in trying to remove the roller bar. Everything is cleaned out from the roller bar, including the ends. The main motor works fine with all the other attachments and all electronic connections are clean. I'm at a loss other than buying a used replacement. Any suggestions in trying to remove the roller bar?
My outsize doesn't have an end with the slot to twist open. There's a red tab on one end & the cap comes off but I can't see how to remove the roller. HELP!
have 2 outsize and torque (multi purchases of v6,v10,v11) ...love my outsize but roller stopped spinning. It starts to spin and stops a second later and motor unit makes a different sound. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. No clogs/hair in wand, roller, and clean filter. watched your video on v6 but canister is different. Any suggestions? Also the one of the rollers on v11 outsize won't work at all even plugged into other motor units. Any suggestions?
Look for a clog in the tunnel leading to the filter. I just pulled a ton of rug fiber out of mine. I didn’t even know this was an area that could clog as it’s a very smooth channel with no sharp bends. The pulsing is a dead giveaway it’s a clog
That’s the problem with these cordless units, cleaning out the motor head. Why they didn’t make the plastic side so it could come apart easily so you could flush with water is bad design in my opinion. There are screws to take it apart but it’s a real pain so not really a solution. I think a long thin bottle brush or a thin air compressor rod might be the only viable solutions.
This is the BEST dyson cleaning video! Thank you so much. :)
Thank you for this informative and helpful video. I have a V10 and this aided me so much in cleaning it and now it is back to running like a champ.
Great to hear!

Wow thanks! I did it and it worked great!
Thanks! I will try that! I absolutely hate the look of the plastic when its gunked up!

This comment just saved my life lol! Thank you!! I’ve been trying to figure out what the problem is for two days!
Thank u so much for this tip!!!!
Whoops. Wish I read this before I cleaned so well 🤣

Thank you for this video! Your instructions were easy to follow and I now have a very clean Dyson V11

Thank you for sharing! Just what I needed to know.
Thank you, great instructional video.
Thank you, that's a realistic demonstration!!🙏
I was able to get the clear plastic on the head pretty clean by taking a straw-cleaning brush and bending it around the motor
Great tip!
Life saver bro! Big thanks❤
Thank you perfect description and step by step how to efficiently!
Thanks!
Thank you of making it so easy!
I actually use my leaf blower to blow out all of the built up dust. You’d be amazed at what comes out
Ha clever. It doesn’t damage the pleating I guess?

The brush section of mine doesn’t come out, just the plastic face on the side comes off (without the brush moving) - any tips on how to troubleshoot?
Will washing the whole head damage it ?
The red seal and a ring came loose and I don’t know where or how or goes! Can you help?!
Great video , easy to follow.
More like instructions for standard clean rather then a deep clean. Looking for a video to show how to clean the metal filter and cyclone tunnels.
Can I use soap and water to clean the extension wand?
I’d say no. There are electric components to it and if it’s not totally dry when you run the vac next it will ruin the motor
@@unsharpen okay! Thanks for replying!
Can you use water to wash the high torque beater head, or can you just pick out hairs and debris?
Just pick the stuff out. Unfortunately
So I cleaned the bin and it went ok but when I put it back in I don’t know how but it got stuck. Now I can’t open the bin anymore. Please help
Great Video Thank you so much!!
Can you use soap on the filter or just cold water?
Just cold water will be fine
My outsize doesn't have an end with the slot to twist open. There's a red tab on one end & the cap comes off but I can't see how to remove the roller. HELP!
I just did it . When you take the cap off just pull the roller out .

Brilliant thank you
why not wash the plastic canister in warm soapy water?
big thank you for this video.
Thanks for watching
If you want to deep clean the head you will need a small phillips and a T6 driver, not an overly complicated process just take your time.
Thank you
You're welcome!
A can of compressed air adds to process
i submerged in water for one night.... not a smart idea ! let's see
So my wife soaked the whole head in water for 24hrs. safe to say the electronics are dead forever? :'D
That would be my guess but honestly I’d put it in a bucket w 5 lb of rice for a week and see what happened before throwing it out.
Just use shop air outside......
WHAT ABOUT CLEANING WHERE THE MOTOR IS? Hardly a deep clean if you leave all that dust and dirt in there.
I’d highly recommend not taking apart the motor unit.

yes these cordless units are poorly designed@@gcruishank9663
Just too complex. It shouldn’t be so hard to do.
Great Video, thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful!
