The Jabulani ball will go down as one of the sports most controversial balls. Having caused chaos at the 2010 World Cup, just why was this ball the purge of all goalkeepers?

Diego forlan loved this world cup and we could see why.
While everyone was complaining and struggling forlan decided to master it
Forlan and Juninho would always buy the ball to be used at a new tournament or at the beginning of every season. Practice every day until they get used to it.
@@fildafernandes4366forlan got the ball from adidas before the world cup and he was practicing it before
@@Kurd143Whatever it was happened, he was sponsored by Adidas at that time. Just look at his boot., the F50 .
Van Bronckhorst his goal was better though then any of forlans goals
While everyone was complaining about the ball , Forlan mastered it ✨

Every time I hear waka waka I get nostalgia for this tournament😂
And Wavin Flag
goog days eh?@@MrMeMyselfandI
The noisy vuvuzela.
In some African countries waka is a slur...
@@RD-ib9yvoh whatever. Every sound under 5 syllables is a slur in some language
Keisuke Honda went from being a random player in the Russian league to playing in Milan and having his own signature fragrance thanks to that ball 😅
So true😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂 too damn true
Sounds like that perfume was made from his ball scent.
He was one of the best in Russia's CSKA who was a constant Champions League player, not any random guy
I remember him from back in the Netherlands where he was good already.
Diego Forlan - The only player to tame the Jabuani.
Van Bronckhorst sent Forlan home with arguably the goal of the tournament
@@nelsondaily Oh thank you for reminding me that beauty!
@@nelsondaily Van Bronckhorst got that one goal, Forlan got multiple goals outside the area with that ball.
Diago folran goals were absolute dynamic at that time. Also nostalgic with the ball
You got BOTH his names wrong ..impressive
@@DanceySteveYNWAnever underestimate the comment section
and this beast was tamed by the one and only diego forlan. deserved that golden ball
Nah Muller was simply better and Germany won against Uruguay for 3rd place so no. He didn’t deserve jacksht 😂
@@sebasmana57980 knowledge from you. T.Muller didnt even win the golden ball in 2010 , it was 2014😂😂
@@SurfingInternet Golden Boot 2014 from the World Cup went to Messi when he was crying. Golden Boot 2010 for south africa World Cup was Muller. I know you have special needs but I clarified for you
@@sebasmana5798man go back to school and learn how to read the trophy in discussion is golden ball not golden Boot, those are completely different trophies
@@sas7432 what? Like Ballon D’Or? You are kidding right?
Meanwhile Cassilas only conceding twice with that ball🌚
Truly an underrated goalkeeper among the GOAT goalkeepers debate, I still rate him as the best goalkeeper I've ever seen.
While he aren't as lasting as Buffon or revolutionary like Neuer being a sweeper, his peak is just altitude compared to others, winning Euro - World Cup - Euro back to back WHILE also being the captain to that great spain team, uniting them who are fierce rivals in the club level between RM and Barca. His reflex are stupidly fast as well even though he isn't as tall as other keeper, perhaps to compensate that part. San Iker truly a beast in his prime
@@nyenye103he’s well rated.
Best goalkeeper and defence line-up
That Spanish team kept passing to each other, and very few had chance to shoot on goal.
So for neuer
I remember Brazil playing the Netherlands that year, we lost the game after a jabulani spin from outside the box caught Julio Cesar off guard.
Oh that goal is grafted in my 10 y-o memory! Say what you want about the Jabulani, but it created some insane, glorious moments.
I can only recommend watching Forlan's highlights in this tournament!
Tshabalalaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! That was beautiful regardless.❤
Aggghhhh! Could hear the celebrations throughout the whole street when Siphiwe Tshabalala scored that goal🥺 yoh we peaked as a country there.
That world cup provided the most entertainment to me, precisely because of this ball. The drilled strategies was not enough to win, you also need to personally be skilled with the ball as well. No wonder Spain won.
And the jabulani chose forlan as it's master
I'm a 2010 world cup addict so when he said controversial ball I said jabulani 💀
Imagine the first person to score just thought he made a nasty knuckle ball even though it was the ball 😂
That ball killed Rob Green’s career
Forlan tame this monster of a ball. Everytime i remember this ball, it reminds me the germany vs argentina 4-0. Cause few months before the world cup started Maradona call muller a Ballboy 😅, didn't end well tho ☠️💀
Jabulani, vuvuzela, and Diego Forlan made WC10 the best in history
Didn't stop Casillas making that crucial save against Arjen Robben in the final.
I LOVED THAT BALL. i still get sweats thinking about those group games with the jabulani. I see those curves and bends in my dreams still 😂😂😂😂😂
Used a jabulani for a Sunday league game, conceded 7
Its my all time favorite Ball design, grew up on that Ball, still have it to this day
This worldcup holds so much memories to me.
The damned horns, the Shakira song, the unpredictable ball and the heartbreak seeing my country lose the final...
Honestly one of the best Worldcups I've witnessed!
Knuckballs with the jabulani
0% skill, 100% physics
we want it baaaaack
What a Grinch, they took away the fun in the game.
@@marcohghar yeah
I don't care what anyone says, the GOAT of balls
As a striker, this is a dream
Diego Forlan requested for it BEFORE 2010 W.C for practice...
the rest Is history as they say😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
The real villain of that tournament was the Vuvuzela
The most aerodynamic thing is a teardrop, the spherical ball is definitely not very aerodynamic. The issues with it relate to the fact that the drag and flows behind the ball are less turbulent than those of its predecessors, because there are less seams and it has a smoother surface it’s both quicker through the air and it’s stability is less predictable. Its direction is harder to judge because the airflow can detach with an unpredictable outcome. It’s counterintuitive that a rough and less perfect ball is easier to control and to predict but ‘perfect’ airflow is very quick to become unbalanced but messy airflow that’s slower to change is easier for players to deal with.
The World Cup in South Africa was a special one.
It was Africa’s time to show the world that she wasn’t all about lions and elephants.
Yeah it was also about the most annoying addition to any sport ever. The feckin vuvuzela...
But it was about elephants and lions, they knew foggall about the game.
What's wrong with Lions & Elephants? The rest of the world should have more wild spaces like Africa does
Van Bronckhorst didn’t mind it 😂
it's like my school's volleyball that's lost it's panels. we use it for football and it's flight is so unpredictable we call it the "jabuwannabe"
They got to experience the horror that is the knuckleball. As someone who grew up around baseball fans, I can attest to how unfair it can be. It's a ball that literally no one can predict how it moves. How do you save a ball when not even the striker knows exactly where it's going?
As I recall, a similar phenomenon was experienced in golf, which is how modern golf balls came to have dimples
I think it made an awesome extra degree of difficulty. I loved that year’s World Cup.
My team won the Scottish Cup 3-0 playing with the Jabulani, so it wasn't too bad in my eyes!
And football is introduced accidentally to what baseball pitchers call a knuckleball.
If you want to learn how controversial this ball was back then. Check matches that used this ball in South America, specially in Ecuador and Bolivia.
That's why Casillas is one of the Goatkeepers of all times
I cant even imagine if juninho got his hands on this ball
That ball was crazy. Never there was a better ball to score from distance.
The plastic balls they sell in Poundland have similar properties
We need something like these. Unpredictable, make it more fun. Ball is another variable to master
It's kind of wild how one soccer ball can make everyone forget about great goalie's during this era
Got to love capitalism😊
If it was used in the 2022 wc, some people say it is rigged for Messi 😂
Forlan really mastered Jabulani! He scored some outrageous goals
Only things I remember about that world cup were the vuvuzelas and the ball kept acting like a knuckleball
Soccer players: complain american football doesn't use a round ball.
Also soccer players when they us a round ball:
I did not understand why I used to enjoy playing with that ball. I used to think I had potential in playing in Europe just because this ball was able to fly from wherever I shoot. Damn this ball, even if I loved it and it was so memorable.
I heard the FA turned down an offer to use the ball in PL matches.
the Rick and Morty, it’s perfectly leveled, the ball perfectly round
The knuckelball at the park were madness
Praise to manuel neuer for being one of the best keepers in the tournament
So in other words, the players muscle memory in playing with an imperfect ball was so great, they were unable to overcome a more perfect ball. A good player does not blame the equipment, they blame their lack of skill.
still beautiful. the entire world cup, not just the ball. ❤
Nope
I still have my jabulani. It was my first size 5 ball. Still use it for pick up games
Jabulani, vuvuzela, wakawaka, and forlan is the last best things ever happened in a world cup
It's the only world cup I've watched with the sound turned off due to those vuvuzela's.
@@johncregg1159that’s just silly
Nope
Vuvuzela was a bit too much ngl. The crowd was completely drowned by the vuvuzela. Which made 2014 WC so much more refreshing
2014 😥
Diego Forlan the jabulani master
I had that ball given by Sony when we bought a TV. It was a replica but it always remind me of good times during World Cup. 8 years later, I bought a 2018 World Cup. Both red and black. But they do not beat the nostalgia of Jabulani.
Spain really excelled playing short passes, and relying on plays in behind the lines and low cross-ins
People talk about Forlán. BUT CASILLAS KEPT A CLEAN SHEET IN PLAYOFFS, THE FIRST PLAYOFF CLEANSHEET IN HISTORY OF FOOTBALL.
When I remember the 2010 edition of the World Cup Waka Waka, vuvuzelas, and Diego Forlan come to mind lol
Everybody is saying that Forlan tamed the ball, but who has seen the beauty of a goal from van bronckhorst, it was so nice and smooth to see
When I was a kid, if we got hold on one of this balls, we would have the greatest training in ball spinning jutsu. Those players complain, but that way the ball brings more to the game and evolves the players reflexes much more. I don't wanna play fifa in easy mode, neither wanna play life.
I think one of the reasons Spain won that world cup is precisely because the unfamiliarity with the ball made the short pass style of Spain dominant in that tournament.
"More misplaced passes..."
Tiki-taka: hold my ball
This has been the best world cup so far.
The best ball and the best fan instrument.
I'm sure plenty of football/soccer fans admire this ball, but as an outsider I can't help but ask "why?"
Why drastically change the core element of the game that players have trained and competed with for decades?
The Brazuca is easily the best. You have complete control of its direction and flight.
My South African GOAT Tshabalala casually scores with the jabulani
Keisuke Honda's free kick vs Denmark 🔥
Who remembers the goal of Ghana against Uruguay
If I remember correctly Spain’s tiki taka was very effective since it didn’t rely on aerial passes
As someone who just really bad at playing football, for some reason this ball made me feel like I'm Diego Forlan 😂. I remember scoring hattrick in 2 matches in school football field (During P.E in 2010) even though I'm never good at it!
I wish I could've played in that world cup with that ball
But that didn’t affect Spain cause with a midfield of Xavi Iniesta and Xabi Alonso all the passes are good
Forlan came here from an alternate dimension where all footballs were built like that
Forlan loved this era
They should’ve kept it and made it the standard. Sounds fun
you manage to kick that ball without spin, you basically have a knuckleball, except a baseball flies more stable
I love that ball, van bronckhorst goal vs Uruguay
The way he said Jabulani
..hay'bo
I miss when world cup controversies were about balls and noise.
Had one as a kid and I basically became a monster with it on free kicks
I thought he was going to show a photo of an American Football. 🏈 😂
Surely the most controversial ball was the beach ball from the 2009 Liverpool vs Sunderland game?
Forlan be bending the ball to his will casually 😅
So that's why Forlan knew the L1 R2 Circle Left Left Left Right Up Down Circle Cheat Code
What about the new one in epl that seems to fly over the bar all the time.
I know its the correct pronunciation but a-dee-dass is so funny to me everytime
Its wild to me that a soccer ball is not a defined standard.
Jab-yu-larny 😂
which also a huge advantage for Spain because at that time they were the only team that played tiki taka at the purest form
Describing a ball as “rotten” is the most British thing I’ve heard.
Unpopular opinion: all footballs should be like this to make the game more infuriating for the fans and players of both teams. I bet it would be entertaining
Ur videos are my favorite keep up the hard work
When i saw that ball the only thing that flashed into my mind was forlan
Shocking that adidas didn’t discover this in product testing before the tournament.
Strikers became Messi,
Goalkeepers got crazy.
😅
