I have water fasted on and off for 50 years, I have done 3 day 5 day most of the time but 20 years ago I did a 28 day fast that was amazing, all my allergies to pollen, and cats went away and have lasted all these years. Currently, I’ve done 23:1 fasting protocol (one meal a day) for 21 days. I did one 48 hour fast during that time as well. I feel clear, energetic, brain fog and aches and pains in my body are gone. After the first day or two, it became incredibly easy. All cravings disappeared and I hardly think about food and snacks like I used to when I used to eat 3 meals a day + snacks. I’m also exercising about a half hour a day, and feeling stronger all the time. I plan to do this forever!

What I got rid of by doing keto and fasting.
Reversed my 6.8 diabetic 6.8 to 4.9 took me 5 months to do that. By the time my liver finishes detoxing doctor says I'll be a 4.1 or 4.2.
Also finally got off blood pressure meds. From 213 to 172 now. No inflammation or mucle spasms, no more being fatigued, no more allergies. A new found of burst of energy, I'm 55 yrs old and and look young and feel like I'm 20. It's been amazing what you can accomplish when you set your mind on it. No more meds for me ❤️

I was hesitant myself when I first started, but my decline was accelerating and I was desperate. Desperate times require desperate measures! I was having trouble getting around, but now I'm active and energetic. I split firewood with an axe, mow my one acre lawn with a push mower, and I'm contemplating running again. I've been enjoying a 23:1 OMAD strategy since July, and threw in a 9-Day starve a month ago to produce Stem Cells in abundance, truly enter and remain in ketosis, give my gut and pancreas a nice holiday, smack any unknown cancer cells about a little, restore a proper level of insulin sensitivity, and cleanse my liver of as many fatty deposits as possible.
Daily drinking lemon-infused water (sometimes with ACV as well) is enough to prevent hunger pangs for me, so long as I keep ahead of them kicking in at about the 8 hour mark until the 12. The rest is just "eyes on the prize" for a leaner, healthier, longer future. If I feel as though I might have a snack or a meal "out of hours", I watch an informative and inspiring presentation such as this to remind me of the benefits I'd be throwing away that day.

I started 2024 with lifestyle changes. - So far this has included a 24 hour fast. -- today i'm going for a 36 hour fast to see what the impact on my weight will be. -- the main benefit from the one fast I did, - It has been easy to go into intermittent fasting, I have lost cravings for a lot of food including takeaways.
I made the decision to change my lifestyle after becoming very stressed and anxious as well as being obese since 2020- a few walks cured that mental state -- i'm still struggling with sleep.. so that's next on my to do list!

I’m still trying to gather my fasting lifestyle together. I realized this year that my body LOVES fasting. When I look and feel bloated, nothing helps except a total fast. I have digestive issues as well, and it really assists with that. I’m a teacher, so over the summer holiday, I did some complete fasting (7 days water fast, 5 days dry fast). I felt great. I am currently on school winter holiday so doing a 72-hour fast before Christmas.
In the New Year, I would like my fasting schedule to be alternate day fasting, with a 48-hour fast weekly or every 2 weeks. I personally don’t need to eat every day, because my body still has fuel left over from the previous day, and even a 24-hour fast helps me feel fantastic.
    Thanks for the video.

Real testimony: I didn’t eat for a week (Sunday to Sunday, 168 hours), just water. I lost 9 pounds. By day five I had bradycardia and I felt very weak. The worst part came after I finished the fasting. My parotids got swollen due to lack of saliva flow during the fasting. It took me almost five days to recover from that painful condition. Would I repeat it? Nope. But now I know the sweet spot for extended fasting is 72 hours. I'm doing it every three months.

I've been intermittent fasting since 2020. I have lost 40 pounds and stopped taking metformin. My blood sugar is almost completely normal. I have seen some interesting reverse aging effects, as well. I don't do full keto, but order fruit instead of bread, avoid processed sugar, and never drink calories. I normally don't eat breakfast, and will typically eat either lunch and dinner, or just one. I have noticed that it's important for me to have at least one day a week when I eat a lot, otherwise my metabolism slows down and defeats the whole purpose. I also try to do an extended fast at least once a year; I'm currently about 42 hours in, and seeing if I can go a full three days.

Twice a year I do a 7 day water fast (Holy Week of Lent and sometime in Oct/Nov). Otherwise I do 18:6 IM and some 48/72 hour fasts during the year. Cancer lives on sugar and I am working hard to prevent the return of the Hodgkin's Lymphoma (diagnosed in 2001). Currently at around 50 hours on my current 72 hour fast.
For those getting started, I find that once you're comfortable with IM in the 18:6 or 20:4 range, it's not too hard to go 36 or 48 hours. Once you've done that a couple times, longer fasts don't seem so daunting. Nothing breeds confidence like success so rack up some early wins to prepare for the bigger challenges.

One thing I found that helped when I was starting was to greatly restrict or remove sugars and carbs a couple days before starting a fast. This seemed to make the transition to not eating easier (probably due to being in light ketosis). I also used to drink diet soda (which I've since cut out completely) during a fast. Coffee is fine (no creams or sugar) and a spritz of lemon or lime in water helps some people. Like everything, you're good at what you practice, so if you keep at it, I think you'll find it gets easier over time. Good luck! Also, if you have any health issues, it would be good to consult with a health professional (which I am NOT) before doing any sort of extended fasting.

I will return to it though as I want to get my insulin doses down to zero.

I started intermittent fasting in January. I am doing custom where I switch up between 12 and 24 hours. I'm also working on throwing in extended fasts. 39 hours being my longest so far. I've recently started doing keto, but on certain weeks, more like carb cycling. I'm working my way up to be able to do a 3 day fast. I drink a lot of herbal teas during those times to still get micronutrients and to stay hydrated. I'm a bit insulin resistant so I am working to become insulin sensitive again.

I've started carnivore for over 2 weeks now and regarding meal time, I'm fluctuating between OMAD and two meals a day (lunch & dinner) because some days I work out quite hard and I don't want to lose the hard-earned muscle mass by not eating enough protein. About last month I suspected myself being insulin resistant due to signs like skin tags on the neck, puffy eyes, and frequent urination at night, so I set a goal to be more mindful with my diet. Fortunately I had been doing IF by skipping breakfast and eating low carb, high-protein, high-fiber for almost 2 years so switching to carnivore is not too difficult except the part where I can eat all the animal fat I want. That takes some getting used to but so far I'm doing fine. My longest iF was about 30 hrs, during which I felt great. I only had to break it because I was cooking for my mom and had to taste the food, so I felt like I might just as well have a meal right then. Will be sticking to this current pattern of eating for months to come since I've seen so many benefits with my overall health and physique.

I started intermittent fasting back in 2018. In 2020, I attempted to start 24 hour fasts. The longest I've gone is a 72 hour fast. Currently, I average out a 24 or 48 hour fast once a month. However, I am attempting a 7 day fast this week (it is recommended to do a prolonged fast 5-20 days at least once a year). On day 2, wish me luck!

I really enjoy your videos. You should write a book. I'm 72 year old male, have metabolic syndrome and have been intermitten fasting for about 2 weeks now and have already began to feel different and notice my clothes are fitting looser. First weigh in is tomorrow 4/29/2024. Mine is 20/4 hrs and the reason I do 20/4 is I hate to go bed with full stomach so my last meal is around 4 pm and it has time to leave my stomach which help me sleep better. No indigestion, no heartburn or reflux. Just sleep. About to attempt an extended fast. Thank you again

I've been doing fasting for the best part of 5 years and this is a very good video 👍🏼 I would say though that if you're going to go beyond 24 hours you'll need to top up on electrolytes (powder or capsules ) otherwise you'll likely start to feel a bit dizzy.
Also, when it comes to breaking an extended fast, eat something small then after 45-60 mins go for a larger meal if you want one. I've made the mistake of having a big meal to break a 36 hour fast and it was very uncomfortable 😆

Ok I get what you're saying but I do not necessarily agree when you say longer fasts do not always equal better. That GREATLY depends on how overweight you are and how long it will take you to reverse insulin resistance. It may take several extended fasts, maybe for months or a year to create a new baseline especially since I have been more than 100 lbs overweight and suffering from IR for years. Anytime I eat even very strict OMAD Carnivore or Keto, my glucose goes up 20 to 35 points and stays there for 24 hours. The only time I am in the 75 to 90 range glucose with high ketones and normal blood pressure around 125/80 is when I have been on a 4 or more-day water fast. ANYTHING I eat spikes and takes a while to come back down. IR has not reversed so I am doing a 5,day on, off 2, then10 day on fast, off 2, then15 day fast, this for March. I will do a 30 day coming up on the 10th and see if I can get my weight down to 215, still 50 lbs overweight, but I have to turn this around now, this year. This may not be enough and If not then I have to do a 60 during the summer. I have varicose veins and had a foot turning purple when I started. After 8 months on KETO I lost maybe 40 lbs and my foot has return to almost normal but the liver issue remains as noted with the veins, cracked heels, itching, inflammation and other signs. The veggies have to go for sure and Carnivore is where I will be when I come off these fasts from now on. Veggies have high levels of toxicity in them that the plants themselves produce, then there is the glyphosate even on organics so goodbye to KETO. Just about any food gives me inflammation, but fasting long term takes all of this away. So for some of us, long term fasting is the only option.

I do 36 hours once a week for years now, recently adding 48 once a month and 72 once a quarter, taking electrolytes for the two longer fasts. Seems to agree with me. No dramatic weight loss but I brought a prediabetiic fasting glucose number down into the normal range.
Wondering if 48 hours every 2 weeks would be more bang for the buck than 36 every week.

Hm I don’t think fasting 5lb at a time is the best approach. Depending on how much water you’re drinking can effect the scale! 1L of water weights 1kg/2.2lb. So you can gain/lose a couple pounds literally in mins by just drinking water. The scale isn’t everything 🙏 so try to not get caught up in the numbers.

I did OMAD five days a week for nearly a year, then after overeating a bit over the holidays, I felt like I needed to try something new to continue my progress, and I just decided to push myself to try an overnight fast one day. That first night was tough because I had so much energy and adrenaline at the same time that my hunger hormones were really high because my body was so used to having dinner, but I’ve been doing two 40 hour fasts every week since then (the second week of January this year), with the exception of one week when I only did one 40 hour fast, and I feel good. The toughest thing is going to sleep with the rise of adrenaline and other counter regulatory hormones from not eating for more than 24 hours, and the biggest surprise is that my hunger is completely gone when I wake up the next day. It’s just as if I had dinner the night before.

I donated plasma today after an 11 month break from doing so. I have always had trouble keeping my heart rate at 100 or below (101 or above = no donation). Weight loss, Omad, and improved bloodsugars have decreased my heart rate or at least increased my ability to calm it down. I also was able to ignore the Center's advice to eat a big meal before donating. I hoped the enery and lack of hunger you referenced would aid my self control efforts and it worked.

First, I am a 66yo male. Some months back, I experienced a left rotator cuff injury likely due to using too heavy a dumbbell. For months, using my left-hand to prop myself up from a lying to a standing position was painful; the injury was simply not healing. Recently, I did a 72-hour extended fast followed by a number of 24-hour intermittent fasts and the pain has gone away. I cannot attribute the absence of pain to any other intervention. Also, I crashed through the weight at which I had plateaued for some months, losing 11.8 lbs in one month.
