Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu! Much Merits to you Ajahn Brahm for the clarification. I always knew that this word concentration is the wrong word used to explain 'Samadhi'. However, many use the word Concentration blindly to explain Samadhi. Ven. Dr. Punnaji too has given the correct translation for Samadhi as the relaxation of the Mind or Stillness of the Mind. 🙏🙏🙏
Yes, jhana is necessary for liberation but what the good teacher has done here is to redefine it so that jhana is not this super duper esoteric nth level mastery of concentration and focus but that when the Buddha says "right samadhi", all he meant is letting go of that cup of juice and then watch it go very still.
They only eat once a day before noon, obviously you will lose a lot of weight, How can you see a monk overweight in Buddhas time if they eat only from begging one a day and not all days are lucky to get a good fish or food?
Don't like the word 'acceptance' because if you watch movies like 'the purge' or other movies, the characters just come up with contrived violent self notions, and then say accept that as their true self;rather than in a Buddhist nuance, it point to a neutral loose relaxed attentive 'space' to show that who people falsely think they are is just phony tangled self identification to be abandoned. 'Letting go' can also be misconstrued in that way, when what it points to is abandonment of defilements not carrying on.
so you don't like the word acceptance because the word acceptance are often misused or simply misunderstood by some of us (people)? like sometimes what they're actually doing is denying a truth about something, then came up with another "truth" which created by others or them selves, and later chosen by them, either consciously or unconsciously, to be accepted as the truth?
Enlightenment is spontaneous, and is a moment in time. It cant be held forever, but it can be approached and felt, regardless of ones path :)
