If Rizal did sign the retraction, he completely threw his pride away and risked his status of being a hero. He did not do this for the same reason as an atheist who starts praying when the plane starts to crash(the belief of heaven and hell). He did it for love. This is actually quite sad because he was a playboy all his life and the emotion just hit him in his last moments. This may display the power of Memento Mori. Realizing the fact that one's death is inevitable and that finding anything real in this short life is quite rare forces someone live his life in the way that he actually wants to live it.

Walang retraction, ang jose rizal ay isang code na ginamit upang itago ang tunay niyang pangalan ginamit sa pagsusulat ng libro, subalit sa pamilya nya ay meron di namang nagngangalang joseang ibig niyang sabihin ay Jose of Rizal na may ari ng hacienda sa bayan ng rizal provence. Yun ang totoo.
