Hi from Australia. My dad was born on a farm near Stranraer so I've supported them my whole life. Growing up in Australia in the 60's and 70's most of my friends were kids of immigrant parents as well, When we went round and declared which team we supported it would always go something like ..... Man Untd, Arsenal. Liverpool, Juventus, Leeds ..... then me ... STRANRAER! Thanks for the tour.

Wow what a great story haha! I can imagine what you mean about the other kids 🤣
I lived in Oz for 4 years. Nightmare trying to stay up for the football! I did go and see lots of A League in my time though. My first TH-cam video was Central Coast Mariners! All the best Bill!

I’m from Stranraer, played a few games for the reserves in the late 70s, but have lived in London and near Crawley for over 30 years but I’m in the toon on a regular basis as my mum lives 5 mins from Stair Park. It’s great to see this video, Stranraer and district is a great area to visit people. 🎉

Another very enjoyable video Sam. Wee interesting fact. Stranraer is the most southerly team in the SPFL. If you look at it on the map and draw a line straight across to the east from Stranraer, it shows you that it is actually a little bit to the south than Newcastle.

Cracking looking ground with real grass too and you were so lucky with the weather.
You are really clocking up the miles especially with Ross County and Inverness to come too.
Im going to be gutted when you do the last league ground.
    Keep up the great videos,

We drove from Sheffield to Stranraer for my son to be a mascot v Dundee...think he was around 7 years old and just latched onto Stranraer..The club was fantastic and made it a day to remember..even now we look for their results.

Stranraer are the only professional club I have visited that is situated in a park.
Stranraer had an epic penalty shootout against Albion Rovers in the group stages of this year's BetFred League Cup which Albion Rovers won 15-14 with the first 28 penalties scored

Another excellent report. I've been there maybe three times. The first time was in season 70-71, and it was a midweek game. It took several hours to get there from Glasgow back then, so I took a sickie off school. Who do I see among the Jags supporters there? Non-other than my French teacher (and Head of the Languages Department) from school, who by coincidence was also "sick" that day. "Anderson, I didn't see you and you didn't see me." Great memories.

My childhood team was Stranraer Boys Club. We played in the South Lanarkshire league and were all from Glasgow! Breakaway from Wolves Boys Club as I remember it. Coaching connections to the first team. We went to Stair Park once on a trip to watch them play, can't remember too much of the game or who they were playing but I think they drew. :)

You will cross the bridge on the way to county in Dingwall. Since you are going that far up the road you should stop off at Clachnacuddin FC to check out another highland league side

    Alan Shields
    Hamilton
    South Lanarkshire
    Scotland.
Very good video Sam very informative.
When a lot of Cubs started back in the 1800's it was basically a case of whatever playing kits they could get hold of at the time.
Take Rangers they ued the rowing uniform of The Clydesdale Rowing Club to start with that was basically a creamy off white with a blue 6 pointed star in a vey pale blue Clydesdale Rowing Club sill use this insignia ( crest ) to this very day.
If you look at Liverpool F.C they first used left over Everton kits from when vacated Anfield for Goodison these kits looked more like The Blackburn Rovers home kits of today
than what we think of Liverpool playing in today.
I would love to watch more
Eredivisie club content on your Channel when the Pandemic is over
hopefully you can go & vist Herenveen among other clubs they are a very interesting club they are strongly associated with the independence movement in that part of The Netherlands & play the regional national anthem before home games Ruud Nistelrooy ued to play for them onlone from P.S.V well before his move to The Swomp sorry I mean Old Trafford lol.
I am going to guess & say
    Livingston F.C will be next.

    • @FootyAdventures
      @FootyAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Alan, thanks for watching again! Yeah I actually had a chat to a few of the guys at the ground about how kits used to just be whatever they could get their hands on. I believe the modern Stranraer away kits are based on the colour scheme of the old yellow and black shirts. I'd love to do more Dutch games in 2021! Heerenveen would be great. Also Groningen for the Robben connection! Livingston will be the next new club I think, however I'm going inside the home of Albion Rovers tomorrow! (But I've seen that already from the outside)

      @@FootyAdventures
In terms of Albion Rovers I know originally they where 2 clubs
Coatbridge Albion & Coatbridge Rovers they they resided to merge and form Albion Rovers.
I know they thought about changing the name to A.R Coatbridge in the recent past a few years ago the thinking was if A.C Milan can use A.C Milan why cant Albion Rovers use A.R & become A.R Coatbridge I think the idea was to make the club sound somewhat cooler to the younger generation to attract more fans.
There is a large Celtic fan base in Coatbridge so it will always be difficult for then to get enough fans though the gates st the best of times.
Never actually seen Albion Rovers play at all myself.
In terms of A.C Milan the A.C is basically the equivalent to F.C here in the U.K they see clubs as more of an Association in Italy than a club the way we do here in the U.K.
Keep Safe San thought your travels thought Scotland dont want you contracting The Coronavirus would not wish that on anyone.
