The absolute funniest and the best.Verry unique act. Let's all raise a bottle of beer to Arthur and Charlie. 😊

The "Bottle of Beer" bit on the January 1957 episode of "The Ed Sullivan Show" is probably the hardest I've ever laughed at a ventriloquist act.

No other ventriloquist has ever equalled his talent and expertise.

What a shame that we have no record of his stage acts. I would love to have seen a full show of his. He has me mesmerised every time I watch him and I laugh at the humour even though I have watched the handful of clips dozens of times already. I remember him from my childhood on TV quite probably from the Good Old Days as that was a popular programme in my family. I almost feel sorry for Arthur as Charlie bullies hun so close to his face. Now that’s nuts! I am a 66 year old woman who knows Charlie Brown is the dummy (or is he? 😜)

I worked as a stagehand in 1970 at The Winter Gardens Theatre in Morecambe and Arthur was on the summer show bill twice nightly. I’d been fascinated by him as a kid on the TV: the way he always faced the camera full on, face totally motionless- not like most vents who turn slightly sideways and he never said anything how ever much Charlie berated him. All that summer season l watched him twice nightly and occasionally pass him going on or off stage on the narrow back stairs. Several times Charlie spoke to me in passing. It was very freaky, by the end of that summer l was convinced he was really alive! Arthur’s face never altered, he ignored me. Arthur Worsley was the finest ventriloquist that has ever lived. It’s a great pity there isn’t more film of the two of them.

This guy was a wonder! We want to know what he (the human) is thinking as he looks into space. He's so much more likeable than the dummy, but we know he is entirely responsible for whatever the annoying doll does and says. Clever guy.

Has "a bottle of beer" ever been questioned? Misdirection and a small speaker in the dummy's head could do this. A brilliant ventriloquist, nonetheless. Have other ventriloquists ever succeeded in the sentence?

Good video! I think the best ever ventriloquist would have to be Ray Alan. A video on him would be interesting, if you haven’t seen him, check him out!
