    bro the sleepless nights iv spent searching for just a few of the tips you have in your videos. Its hard answering the questions i have when I only have the internet, no teacher. But you unlocked many of the doors ive been trying to for years in a few of your 10 min videos

    This is the kind of sound I didn't know I needed to hear until I started listening for it more. And then your videos just magically pop up at the right time.

    This is the video I’ve been looking for. The reference point idea definitely is the key! This also helps with making chords for songwriting. Thank you!!

    I'm new to your channel and I really like what I'm hearing, especially the Robert Glasper lessons. Thanks.

    I have perfect pitch but for Neo soul chords I can only hear the top and bottom notes but whatever’s in between is still fuzzy to me. I love this ear training video and it’ll help a lot if u did more of these. You don’t necessarily need to talk in all the videos. Just the chords, and reveal the answers afterwards! :)

      Cool will keep that in mind! Glad to hear it was a bit of a challenge.

    Noah, you are a fantastic teacher! My problem is the notes and tones seem so "unstable" in themselves that I can't tell their "location"! It sounds "placeble" in context--understood as a this or a that--but, I guess my mind is not concentrated enough to "fix" them. I have a long way to go, bro. Thank you, I'm gonna keep trying though.

    Are there any tips for picking out the bass? I can hear the top notes easy, but bass is not as easy without testing out notes while I listen and I'm still sometimes wrong..😅

    Sometimes there is "beauty" in not knowing.....?

    Why the intervals are always the same in the top notes and bass notes? Is he playing every chord in the same voicing or something like that?

    I have to practice my bass notes the higher ones are easy but the lower ones are hard

      There are some good apps you can get on your phone that give you random intervals to identify. It'll tell you to identify 5th jumps, 3rd jumps, etc, really great tool for getting relative pitch down.

    hi noah , i bought it yesterday & i told u that i support ur approach & videos from year , i already bought ur first book "basic piano voicings " i thing that is a constructive feedback to say "what a pity not to find the voicings of those progression in this new pdf cuz it's a part of the sound & fit with the licks u propose, i will appreciate an objective answer from u rather than a delete message as answer (23sheets pdf only in treble for no voicing added ) wait for a positive reaction from u , when we buy thing it's a way to support your work too..

      Hey man- thanks for your feedback, and thanks for supporting my work! Totally understand where you're coming from here, and I hear you. You'll be happy to know that based on feedback, I'm actually already working on a way to provide info about the voicings I'm using. Just to give some context, when we designed the Jazz Styles: Neo Soul package, we worked really hard to create amazing backing tracks to play along with, and we decided to make the focus not only the progressions themselves, but the ability to play the progressions along with really high-quality accompaniment, with incredible live drums. So when you purchase it, you're getting some of the best backing tracks out there with challenging progressions to work on, and getting to jam with Corey Fonville. With that said though, I completely understand that it's disappointing not to have the voicings, so stay tuned. I am going to be making videos explaining the voicings I use for these progressions and posting them on my channel, and I'm also working on another way to provide the voicings. I really appreciate the feedback and always take it into consideration. Enjoy the backing tracks and expect to find information about the voicings soon!

      @@NoahKellman hey noah , cool to hear some of ur explanations and as i said: it's because i know the quality of ur work (i own ur full bundle (jazzpianoconcepts) as the basic piano voicings )
      that's the reason why i react , i was expecting to find the voicings like in "20 modern bebop licks " but i will stay tuned & wait till the next episode ;)! thx for ur reactivity !

    Why would you call the b3 a b10?

    • @NoahKellman
      @NoahKellman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Stefan, that's how I think of it sometimes when it pops into my head a tenth up above the root, particularly for ear training since we are focusing on where each note is compared to the other (as opposed to for a purely theoretical purpose). Realistically, they're obviously interchangeable terms. For me, it helps to visualize the tenth sometimes and that comes out verbally when I'm speaking.
