Thank you for this video a Guy at Bass pro got me convinced buy the $169 3 night 4-day package I agreed to it and he told me a little bit about timeshare and I thought well we need to start investing for retirement anyway so it wouldn't hurt to listen to it and I knew that I would have time to research all this before I went on this vacation supposed to go this weekend and I'm definitely very thankful for all the videos people have made about these ridiculous people. No timeshare for me. If you have something good to sell you don't have to force people to buy.

Gotta be careful. Fine print says they can charge you the regular nightly rate if you don't complete the presentation. Could be hundreds more a night than what you paid. Set an alarm for the hour and a half, then inform them you'd like to leave. The time was up.

My wife and I just signed a contract in Tennessee and the next day we both regretted it. So we wrote a rescinding letter per the 10 day law in Tennessee and went to the post office to have it certified and right away the person in the post office asked us if it was a rescinding letter for a timeshare and we said yes and he said people come in all the time for this!! He was a great help told me exactly what to do

First of all, the so-called “free gift“ isn’t free at all. Second of all, I’ve never heard anyone say that the 60 minute presentation last for 60 minutes. It’s more like seven hours. And third, it’s very easy for them to discount something they claim has a $40,000 price tag down to 5 or $6000 because they’re doing nothing more than selling you a piece of paper which is worthless and lying to you about it.

We attended a blue green timeshare presentation in June at their Williamsburg VA property. I feel we were fortunate that we were held hostage for only 2 1/2 hours - most likely because I was pretty vocal in expressing my incredulity at the hefty yearly maintenance fee as well as the 16 percent interest rate charged to finance one of their packages. I think they were glad to be rid of us. I will say we went to the presentation with the conviction we would not take the bait and we held fast to that.

I've been a Bluegreen "member" for several years, it has become a big waste of money, don't do it! The thing is that the high pressure salesmen have found thousands of new suckers and they have added very few new resorts over the years. So, all of the resorts are way over booked all of the time. Most of resorts don't have an opening for ten months or longer. Just try booking a week in Charleston SC or Williamsburg VA actually almost any of the resorts on less then a years notice "ain't gonna happen". Unless you like Wisconsin in January. Please, if you drop the soap in the shower DO NOT pick it up because Bluegreen will be right "behind" you with a little surprise!

Their tactic is to start off with a very high price, in fact it's usually twice the initial price. This is to feel you out and see how you react. The TO (takeover) will do the drops, again by design. The TO is a senior salesperson or manager and it's to try and convey the message that now your talking to someone who will take you serious to help close the deal. Again, all by design.

Never except No from those people either. Ask for your $1,000 dollars after your hour is up. If they say no, then keep asking for it. And it needs to be cash and that it doesn't require you to purchase anything or sign any contracts.

The Vacation Village Colonies at Williamsburg, VA saleswoman Jackie gave us "I'm not supposed to tell you this information" but if we were to hire her close, real estate, friend at Vacation Services International, he could easily sell our other timeshare with Westgate to pay for our purchase at Colonies. She said he could also sell our "bonus week" we would receive with a Colonies purchase to take care of the bill and the maintenance fee. We believed her. When confronting Colonies on these illegal practices, Colonies argues we had seven days to back out. They also argue that if we had informed the Closer that Jackie told us we could sell our Westgate easily, the Closer would have stopped the sale. Really? These people have broken Virginia law which forbids bait and switch tactics as well as fraud for profit tactics to make a sale.

Maintaince fees aren't worth it. We have been members for a while and we have had fun at many of the properties. We could do that on our own for cheaper though. I will never go to another meeting again. The higher point properties are maintained better. So the lower point people are technically paying for the higher point people.

This is what happens when people don't know their rights and laws. You're only required to stay for the time allotted that you were compensated for. If they would not let you go you could just walk out and tell them anything more than the hour you agreed to is being held against your will and you will call law enforcement depending on your state.
It would be like your boss having you come in to work for $100 for thar hour and then asking you to stay on the job past that without compensation.
They have to obey the law...but they bank on you not understanding your rights and the law.

After your allotted time, get up and leave and collect the "gift". Most important is the read anything you sign, the contract is the legalese, your signature binds it. If you don't understand it, get up and leave. Don't fall for the sunk cost fallacy, meaning that you spent all that time there, you might as well sign it so you can get out. The timeshare industry has been around for 50 years, they have this all nailed down on what works to get your signature.

@Christina Tee Hi Christina, after speaking with 3 of the most recognized cancel share companies, I realized that there is nothing I can't do. If I want to get out, I will have to pay between $4K and $6K. There will be no refund either. So I will have to "enjoy it" for a few years and then cancel. However, if you haven't paid in full, there is hope, but you have to act fast. Contact a cancel share company. Good luck.

You need to turn the volume up. Timeshares have been around for decades. It's a legal scam, not an investment, selling is next to impossible because the buyer is stuck with continuing costs and the contract is dynamic, they have the right change the terms and conditions as they wish.

Yeah the maintenance fee is $50, but the other fees she is referring to includes property taxes... Which is part of every timeshare. The only difference with bluegreen is that they work on a point system to be more flexible on where you can go with your timeshare. Not sure where the scam comes in. Yeah they are pushy salespeople like any others, but still... Not hearing where the scam is.

I do own one with Bluegreen. They make most of their money through tough sales pitches like the one she is describing. I talk to the sales people afterwards and if you keep it very friendly and real with them, they will let you in on some "extra" knowledge 😉. The difference with me is that I have willpower to say "no" when I mean to say it... Oh yeah, and I also review contracts for a living 😊👍.
