  • The Well-Doing Momma flips through The Good and the Beautiful Language Arts Level 3.
As a homeschool mom of 8, I have used a variety of curriculum over the years. I want to share with you some glimpses and opinions of different curriculum. I know how difficult it can be for moms to get to a store to see curriculum (if the curriculum is even available). My hope is that this flip through allows you to see the curriculum and if it may be a fit for your child. Please let me know if you have any questions or have other curriculum you would like to see me flip through.
We have really enjoyed TGTB LA 3 (I have actually used all 3 editions of it! and love how organized this is).

Thanks first year homeschooling. It’s so overwhelming what to choose

Let me know if I can answer any questions. Don't get too overwhelmed, do some research, then pick something, go with it and adjust as needed. There are so many amazing resources it can be overwhelming but don't let it distract from the joy of teaching your kiddos!!

We are going to be more than likely using ELA Level 3 for TG&B. We haven't used TG&B before. I did do the Reading Assessment Placement for my son & daughter. They both were able to pass the Level 3. My questions are should we start out with the Level 3 or start back at least ELA Level 2 just because they haven't used this ELA before? I'm asking because looking at Level 2 some they haven't mastered & this is a Spiral Curriculum. I know there are some Gaps, but if I'm teaching the material and utilizing the Apps along side with working 1 on 1. I will be starting this over the summer as I want to keep going and catch them up. I know Level 4 is not for them yet & it possibly wouldn't hurt going back to the Level 2. But, they can read the Level 3 even though they could be missing out on some of what is taught in the Level 2. Would this affect them to much by starting out in the Level 3.

I just flipped through my level 2 book and the only thing I see that hasn't been retaught in level 3 is irregular past tense and irregular plural nouns. I'm sure it is reviewed a little in level 3 but can't remember seeing it alot. If your kids are reading pretty well then they probably naturally know those. Or you can teach as you hit those spots in level 3 ( you could possibly print those lessons for free from tgtb if you wanted to). So yes I think starting with level 3 would be great. You can always go at a faster speed if they are doing well so they can move to level 4 sooner. I think level 3 does a good job solidifying all the information before level 4. There is a good jump into level 4. Hope that helps! If not feel free to ask me to clarify. 😊

It says they don’t have to have Spelling, Writing & Grammar mastered that it is reviewed through the courses.
Which they are the lacking or not the strongest in these areas.
If this is the case should I start them in the Level 3?
They would be new to TG&B.
They can pass the Level 3 Reading Assessment within the 90 seconds & about 2 word errors.
They passed the Level 2 Reading Assessment with no problem & fluently.
My question is should I just review the Lessons 1-8 Prep with them & just start on Level 3 ELA Course?
      Or
start in Level 2 without Booster Cards & the Books only using the Course Book?

@@rachelosantowski8524 I would just start with level 3. It reviews really well and I think it sounds like they will do well with that.

So, do you have to read their readers? My daughter is a strong reader and has her own tbr list 😂

The readers are made to be part of the curriculum and have a parent section to read and student section to read. It incorporates phonics into the readers. It only takes a few minutes a day and I really enjoy reading the stories with my child. If you have a strong reader she could probably do it all on her own. You could consider skipping the readers but you would miss some of the phonics ( may not be needed if you have a strong reader). The only other work from the reader that I remember is a book report but you could use any book. Hope that helps!
