Hey Avar, some notes on the H stang. Mostly how you can save and stretch the WEP out. The WEP is least useful between 3500m and 5000m at low air speed. So during your climb, it can be very wise to cut the WEP during this portion of the initial climb. At high IAS, the WEP is least useful between 5000 and 6500m. So if you're flying max speed at those alts, you can cut the WEP and lose very little speed. At high speed, the H usually doesn't even need WEP unless you are maneuvering. The H is so fast because her aero is very slick. The airframe is doing most of the work rather than the engine. But this is situationally dependent of course. Another thing to note, without WEP, the H actually has less power than a D-30, really closer to a D-5. The weight reductions however make the performance closer to the premium D-10. So that's really good to know if you have run out of WEP but need to know your relative performance to other planes. Love the H, and all of the Stangs tbh. The D's deserve a lighter fuel load, but I love them, even if not meta. Thanks for the video.
Ahhh, the H'Stang, the one plane if i ever see above immediately know im fucked. I think however that it shouldnt really be put in a higher BR bracket, it fits well at rhe BR its in, just feels more like a lot of its competition underperforms compared to how they should in reality. Nice to see you upload again big man, these vids always nice to watch.
the P-51H overperforms compared to real life, its performance is based on calculations from North American of how it would perform with bombracks equipped, when in reality it underperformed that simulated flight performance without bomb racks being equipped. This probably will never be fixed, but you should be aware of this in case it potentially gets nerfed. Jet BR needs to go up by .3 so the 51H, Mk 24, 152 H, Yak-3U, Mk 22, and other superprops can have their own little party BR without constantly ruining the vibe of other 5.7-6.0s.
@@AvarWarThunder ah, apologize for my lack of knowledge on that front. You are right though, playing superprops against each other would prolly be a lot of fun, without being unfair to other props.

Yep, do a Q&A. A big advantage of your videos is your comment really explaining things from your perspective, what others did well and bad. Lots of good youtubers flying very well, but not many explain.
I wish that more channels had explained the mistakes of what others were doing back when I was a newbie. If I get a really high kill game, half the time it's because the enemy team are throwing; it's not solely due to skill, but also the fact that the enemy team have to give me the opportunity in the first place. Now if I become too successful people will start reacting to me and I won't get off so many carries, but I think that would be a good problem to have.
Lobe the grounds KDR joke! Only saw a few of your videos but I have to say: "Brother you are very smart & totally understand the art of the Dogfight! You would have been a multiple ace in WW2 !!
Thanks man. A lot of this is because i have access to info from the great pilots who came before me, both in real life and online. When i was a newbie i devoured materials on the tactics used in 2000s flight sims and watched the old defyn videos. they were a lot more educational because back then air RB was slower and most every review involved a crazy carry of some sort. Now with the way the game is so fast paced, you rarely find opportunities to play methodically and therefore a lot of the gameplay is based on muscle memory that is way harder to explain than deliberate thinking.
I used my rudder, which caused it to roll a little bit faster. Using your rudder keys is an important part of defensive flying because it causes sudden, unpredictable, and unfamiliar movements. It's also handy when you need to roll faster and don't care much for precision.
Funny enough ive found that the D model P-51s suffer from the same problem that make top tier an adderal-required mode, the maps are too small. The mustangs do well at high alt because of their supercharger ratios, not pure engine power. Essentially the germans and russians beat the P-51 to altitude rn, but thats because the "altitude" is almost exactly where the P-51 STARTS to perform better. Extend the ranges (and thus the altitude) and the P-51 will start doing better because it has the time to put the superchargers into play. You can do this rn by side climbing but then your entire team is dead (because american teams hate climbing) and its 1v7.
I just got out of flying the P-51D-30 last night, funny enough. the issue with the d30 is that the extra horsepower only compensates for its increase in BR when it gets a full downtier. It really feels like an overtiered P-51D-10. You CAN play the D-30 aggressively but then you are betting that no one is good in the Spitfire or the Yak-3 because forcing those guys off altitude when they are above you is a fools' errand and equalizing the energy with them takes forever. I don't mind going 1v7 if i play more passive, because thats just more fun than 3 kills and winning in 5 minutes. However, if you play more passive you are naturally limited on your kills per battle because you are missing out on tons of kills every time your team wins the deck furball party. Therefore my solution to flying the P-51D has traditionally been to ignore them and fly the P-51C instead. Sucks but is what it is.
@AvarWarThunder I prefer the D-30 or just an uptiered D-10 tbh. The lower in BR you go the more "turnfightey" things generally get. While the engine power of a downtiered D-10 does make it a fierce contender for top dog in that match, the better maneuverability of those lower opponents also relegates it to much more of a BnZ role, and while its good it just isn't my playstyle. I much prefer the enrrgy fighting style the D-30 enjoys, abd its entirely due to the opponents it faces not the aircraft itself. Dont get me wrong i still play the shit out of it the D-10, but thats cause its still fun and makes me SL, I just dont personally think its AS fun as the D-30.
your videos are fantastic, the best i've seen since green fury stopped uploading. you should consider doing a video on target prioritization, as it's something i see players with otherwise good dogfighting skills lose to. the bit about bomber chasers probably not being a big threat is the kind of thinking that a lot of players don't seem to grasp well.

This means 51H always has props to bully while mk 24 is constantly stuck chasing jets.
Maybe you mention it later in the video, but I think the A2D would be the best prop in the game. The P51H would probably be the best piston engine prop, although it could have competition if we get the Sea Fury Mk X. The best mustang for its BR would be the P-51C, although it would have competition if we got later models of British Mustang, mind you the Mustang Mk IA is still an excellent plane and almost preferable in some cases to the P-51C. All very debatable, all very interesting 😄
Great video btw, loved the technical and scientific breakdowns of your dogfights. Made me remember why I love planes and warthunder so much! earned a sub
@ Thanks man. I thought about P-51C before titling this video as it definitely shares the characteristics of a plane that outdoes (almost) all of the competition completely. The reason I did not was because P-51C still has the exploitable weakness which is its poor low-speed acceleration and turnrate. Which P-51H does not really have issues with. Both planes face vehicles which are better than them but while P-51C is always the fastest even in a full uptier unless enemy brought Bf 109 Z, it has planes like Ki-44 sitting at its own tier which it can't really kill and the fight ends up being a stalemate with P-51C running forever and Ki-44 having infinite energy. So yeah, they are very close competitors, and I plan to play P-51C in the future. A2D i have played. Awesome plane. Would be more awesome if it wasnt a full uptier to 8.0 9/10 times and your team dies in 5 mins. Otherwise I'd have already made a serious video on that thing.
i actually dont play any planes with bullpups in ground RB. I have tanks at that BR but i simply don't feel confident enough in my ground RB skills to make any videos.
@@ShotTanker Saw you edited it. F100 maybe. I actually kinda enjoy it despite the plane being objectively mid compared to the fragmobiles running around at its own BR, much less 9.7_.
@ It's a third party mobile. The Aim-9Es aren't really that bad, the problem is the plane's inability to defend itself when put under pressure by high-powered missiles and other planes with better flight models, which are extremely common. Because it has good guns and decent missiles, i tend to play it aggressively and put getting kills before staying alive.
i always feel like i am talking too slowly because there are things going on in my head that never get explained. So if i really took the time to lay out everything going on i would be speaking too fast for ANYONE to understand.
P-40 is pretty weak in war thunder other than in arcade mode, where it's great with the .50 cals at such a low BR. P-39N, P-51C, P-51H, F8F-1, XP-50, F4U-1A are what i would consider the most clearcut cases of overpowered American planes. F8F not really but it's close.
@ i havent played american props in about 2 or 3 years but when i did they were utter and complete DOGSHIT like downright the worst planes to fly even when aced because everything save for a few russian planes were just direct upgrades in every aspect but i guess that's changed recently because ive been seing a lot of people praise american props lately
@ People used to whine, complain, and cope about US planes being undertiered when in reality there were only a handful that stood out as being overpowered and the rest struggled in the allies vs axis meta. It's understandable why you had a hard time because the newbie US experience was truly awful. Every game you took off and you were going to be below enemies with better turnrate, better guns before the mg 151 / realshatter nerfs, and sometimes mixed in with American premium variants like the german thunderbolt that were just as fast as you and run you down so the Axis hordes could kill you. In this meta where Axis teams expected to win by default and where it was very common for new US players such as yours truly to average a 30% winrate, any situation where an American plane had actual advantages was decried as "America OP" and caused a lot of coping. This is not from the perspective of someone who only mains the US: I also played a lot of Germany back then as well. Now the matchmaking and BRs have changed and a lot of American things have been downtiered, which means stuff like the F8F, P-51C and P-39N are actually fun to fly solo and are powerful enough to change the tide of battle by themselves.
@@AvarWarThunder yeah i do come across people who keep trying to school me on american props just for me to check the player card and they dont even have the 20mm p51

FIRST. can you make video on F100D or F104
i actually dont play any planes with bullpups in ground RB. I have tanks at that BR but i simply don't feel confident enough in my ground RB skills to make any videos.
@@AvarWarThunder ahhh okay. thanks anyways.
@@ShotTanker Saw you edited it.
F100 maybe. I actually kinda enjoy it despite the plane being objectively mid compared to the fragmobiles running around at its own BR, much less 9.7_.
@@AvarWarThunder thanks for your consideration, I just got the F100D and don't really know what I'm doing. I jumped from 8.3 to 9.3 in one vehicle.
You talk to fast 😂
You merge and dive down under ... pitch ... grmjhgf ... and then he dies 👀
Think I need to watch this in slow motion
i always feel like i am talking too slowly because there are things going on in my head that never get explained.
So if i really took the time to lay out everything going on i would be speaking too fast for ANYONE to understand.
never have i ever thought of an american prop plane as "OP" in war thunder save for the Warhawks
@@Noskillnohammer Yeah, i had to go through ALL the suffering back in the day.
