So if i just got my army e5 how long would i have to hold that rank to increase my chances of retaining my e5 when i switch to Navy reserve via dd368???
Hi Abdon, I appreciate the comment and question. OSVET is just a term that we used for "other service veteran". You may be able to switch to the Navy active straight as prior service through the DER or ECM but the chance of getting approved is slim. If you join as SELRES first then apply RC to AC, you would have a better chance.
Hi, awesome video. What would a Army 25B rate be in the Navy. Been out for 3 years as E4 and looking for more information on Navy Reserve life. (I know nothing and the internet doesn't give much resources with respect to reserve duty). What's a typical deployment rotation? Does the unit or the individual determine whether you get seaside or green side during deployment or annual training? Does OSVET have any type of basic training to attend to get spun up on Navy customs and life? Thanks in advance!
Hi SeverScript, thank you for the comment! I can check your MOS tomorrow if what navy rate it is comparable to. The answers to your question would depend on what unit you will be assigned to in the Navy Reserve. If you are prior service, regardless of what branch of service you were from, you don't have to go back to bootcamp. You will know more about the Navy tradition once you are already in the navy itself and by also asking for some study guides from fellow sailors who would be happy to help you out.
@@Cesar.Bendita_nierthian32 Thanks for looking it up and getting back to me! What are the options when there isn't no direct conversion? Just pick any rate in which I qualify for based on ASVAB?
@@000retaliate I recommend you to actually contact your local recruiter to discuss your options. ASVAB score is not the only thing that you might need to be eligible for. You also need to meet the medical, civil, and other requirements of the rate/job.
Hello 👋🏾 prior service Army reservist. Really want to serve in the navy but just had a baby . What is the navy standard for new moms? How long do I have to wait before I can sign up ? Thank you in advance!
Hi Almaretta Jordan, thank you for the comment and question! Since you are from the Army, you would need to go back to MEPS for a physical exam if you are interested in joining the Navy. The same medical standard for female applicants will be applied to you- you will need to wait a year after giving birth regardless if you had a normal delivery or C-section. Female whose birth delivery date is within 6 months or are breastfeeding cannot be qualified.
I'm also a E-4 and my contract ends here soon and I plan to switch over as soon as it ends. Do I have to retake the asvab or can I keep the same line scores ? Also do I have to go through boot camp again ?
Hi lookout westP, thank you for the comment! If your ASVAB line score meets the minimum for the Navy rate you are applying for, then you don't have to retake the ASVAB. ASVAB waivers are also accepted in a case to case basis but the ASVAB should have been taken within 2 years. You don't have to go back to Bootcamp in the Navy if you are prior service.

As an Army E-4 with almost 10 years, would I be able to transfer into Navy active via the OSVET program? Thanks

Cesar_Ryan Bendita Thanks for your reply, and for the information.

@@Cesar.Bendita_nierthian32 Thank you. Looking forward to hearing from you again!
Your MOS of 25B has no direct convert to a navy rate but the closest one is our Information Systems Technician or IT rate.
