I am joining the Navy as a hospital corpsman, and my plan is to use the MECP program, do you think being a Corpsman would actually be helpful for nursing school? and do you think I would have a good chance for MECP? I have an associates in Health Science my GP is 3.87, and my TEAS score was 79 😅 do you have any advices or tips I could use?

I just failed the NCLEX. I cannot begin to articulate the level of embarrassment and heartache I'm feeling. I'm confident that I will be a good nurse. I just need to get past this, move on and persevere

I am 32 and got out of the Navy as an E4 9 years ago. Can you add any information I may be missing please. If I go back active duty I will drop to E3. I have to give up my 20%VA claim and hope I clear MEPS to get back in. I will not be required to go back to bootcamp even being out for 9 years. Oh, I have to take an advab again. Am I missing anything?

I received a RE-3 code from the US Army active component after I signed a declination of continued service statement document in which I declined a set of orders to Fort Hood, Texas. As reenlistment codes vary between the different services all I needed to do is get a waiver to reenlist into the US Navy with a paygrade determination waiver which my recruiter and his CMC knew but MEPS did not know or did not bother to look and be aware of. Some recruiters and MEPS classifiers know that the different services have different RE codes that mean completely different things and my RE-3 code was nothing to do with misconduct just my decision to not obligate service for a set of orders as my enlistment was up in the US Army. It actually took me going to the NCOIC of MEPS in Atlanta to explain this after doing my own research as I was treated like a "dirtbag" by incompetent classifiers in the Navy MEPS processing office that obviously did not know their jobs or the regulations. After entering the Navy I attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 6.5 years and retired honorably from active duty with combined federal service in two branches after 22 years.

I served 4 years A/D in the Air Force and received the standard Honorable Discharge. I was in during Vietnam and as it began winding down. Upon being discharged, I was devastated seeing I had a RE-2 Code (these codes differ between branches). This was like a verdict without warning or the ability to defend myself. I wanted a career in law enforcement and thought this would hurt me. Well, I've worked for the DOJ (Department of Justice) and with a large-city PD. I'm currently a captain and passed two background investigations. The Applicant Investigation Section only cares about the type of discharge received. They don't care about NJP for not wearing a hat or being late to work. A poor RE-Code alone is not a DQ. They're just the opinion of your CO. A disqualifying RE-Code won't help you but won't hurt you on Main Street.

I was in the Army 3 years, RE-3 code for hardship 5 years ago. The Marine Corps will not even look at my paper work.
