It was fun watching you figure things out and having all those "aha" moments :) Having played the last patch to level 200, and seeing the combat loop hasn`t really changed, i think i can provide some tips to anyone interested and willing to suffer my ramblings. To really get good at the combat i think it helps to imagine you are playing Vermintide. Which is to say: always be dodging! Stamina is more important than health if you dodge a lot, which you should. Magic doesn`t recharge on a timer, they recharge on the volatile witchfire you collect. Notice that as long as you don`t collect any the bar won`t move an inch. Leveling magic means you need to pick up way less and can spam the spells. At high levels you can do easy no-weapon runs with just spells and melee. Which segues nicely.. Melee is really strong. When the fist icon next to your spells is fully charged you do a powerfull critical falcon punch. Kills all normal chaff and stuns everything else. Stunned enemies always take more damage. Almost all sources of stun require you to get rather personal with the enemies. Keeping a distance seems like a good idea in the beginning, but as the game gets harder you will be punished hard for doing so, while many of the rings and trinkets will greatly reward being up close. Learning to dodge-dance is the key to both survival and crazy dps ;)
3:19 As I get older I understand that more and more lol. Back when I was about 18 and first started playing games online I was all about playing against other people. I started on Gears Of War 1, then played Halo 3 until I got hooked on Call Of Duty 4 and Call Of Duty World At War all on the 360. I was really competitive and quite skilled and had plenty of time to put into practicing and getting good. Therefore, I was able to maintain a high level of skill and competitiveness. I can't put in that amount of time anymore being 35 and my ability to get really good at shooting games has diminished quite a bit. So I'm more into coop games nowadays because I get my butt kicked in most of the modern shooters like Apex Legends. Warzone and Fortnite. I can't keep up with the standards of skill anymore. So I understand your comment 💯%. Just too old and don't have the time for it anymore. I think this game has great potential btw. It looks great and the gunplay and general gameplay loop seem really fun. As long as there are plenty of maps and a better enemy variety then it'll go far I imagine. I also hope that there are plenty of different weapons and spells to mix and match and upgrade to create your own build with its own strengths and weaknesses. Maybe give the player 3 custom loadouts that they can setup with different gear and abilities. That way you have a build for different situations. Like, say one build was good for enemies that are on a certain map. Or maybe there are bosses that are hard to beat so you build a loadout specifically to help take down bosses. Things like that would add a ton of depth that could keep you hooked for a long time. Thanks for sharing this nice looking game with us again! ✌️ Out!
I feel the same. Although I always loved Co-op games a bit more than competitive I always also played quite a bit of CS, Unreal, BF, Natural Selection, Rainbow Six (back when it was truly tactical), Ghost Recon, etc.. Never had quite a chance of being truly competitive because I had no money to invest in a good PC and M+K (my parents had no money for that and even me working on holidays wasn´t enough since PC´s were very very expensive back then). Now that I can have a good PC and I still like competitive FPS games, it´s just impossible - as an adult, with an adult life with a job, family, etc - to keep up against kids on the peak of their reflexes playing four to six hours a day, and above all, dreaming of being some sort of influencer that plays these games 8h per day, which pushes them to be as "sweaty" as possible. On top of that put the SBMM that just makes MP matches bland and repetitive and you basically killed competitive multiplayer for me. I´m glad though that co-op at least is well served today with many great options.
Started on a new character when the update dropped, and am having fun. Glad to see you're also enjoying it. When it comes to the mushrooms, the ones that heal you are the flat, white top with dark markings, and the pointed, light brown one. All the others hurt you, in one way, or another.

Looks like a cool game and I'll try it once it gets more polished and it has more contents or as I should say, once it gets released on Steam. just before you said “I am an UGLY bastard” I thought to myself “THERE’S MY HOTTIE !!!” It’s been MONTHS since I’ve played witchfire I must return to my freaky little man (the preyer witch hunter guy)
It's a habit thing. When it's on you start reloading to make sure you're topped off. It's also a lot of tutorials which say 'Always go into battle with a full mag.' or 'Always make sure you've topped off your rounds.' In essence, it's a very big conditioning thing. Using the whole mag means you are at a disadvantage in a fight, having a full mag at all times, means you are always ready for a fight. Also, do you want to be stuck with a partially empty mag RIGHT as the heat of battle begins? As for why he does it in combat, I have no clue.
@@Thanatos-I i under stand that, but It Is not a good reason to reload After shooting a single bullet and the enemy Is still standing two meters in front of you.
@@alvarocattani1323 Yeah that part I agree with, he has like 4 more bullets and reloads right in the enemies face and Idk why, if they're distant yeah reload. But his method uhh...I have no explanation.
So is it Rogue "like" or Rogue" light" i am still not sure what this term means when i hear it tbh. Sort of dark souls-ish? It has "RUNS" i take it maybe.
"rogue" comes from the (old) game "rogue". Basicly, rogue like = everything stays EXACTLY the same, you have a run and when it ends (usualy character dies) you are exactly where you started. Its like you never played before. Rouge light: simlar game-concept (play, die, repeat), but you also have some meta-progession like different weapons or straight buffs. When the new stuff is no "upgrade" its a gray-area; core-idea is "you get better" vs "you and your character get better"
Why I don't like this game: The difficulty is a direct result of counteractive design rather than a demand of skill through risk and reward. Enemies just stand out in the open to be shot or give "peekaboo" moments specifically so the player can damage them. They "chase" the player by deliberately slowing down and speeding up, all the while not attacking. The majority of incoming damage is either from offscreen targets or a "dangerous" target that can just decide to act in the complete opposite way by getting right in your face and dealing massive damage. Enemies have large health pools relative to weapon damage, so you have to focus on them individually for a period of time in order to deal with each one. The AI is programmed to taunt you into this behavior rather than to actually fight you. Then, the game decides it should be hard now and sends AoE damage towards the player when they aren't looking or aggressive pushing enemies when you don't have many strategies or tools to counter it and simply have to take the damage while running away. There's no nuance, just repetitive whackamole. I might have enjoyed this when I was 5, but now it almost feels insulting. "oooh shoot me, oh now I've moved! I'm gunna getcha! I'm gunna getcha!"
