Kindness can kill, but it's the best way to go.
I personally don't think they both die. Rin used all her strength saving those people, and was going to/ on the brink of death. However Len leaped to save her, taking upon some of those burdens himself. That way Rin isn't under so much pressure and they can work through those problems and burdens together. In the end I just think they're both fainted, because if you've ever passed other before, everything is blurry until you collapse. When Len is lying there as well, he seems alert and awake, and Someone who's dying probably wouldn't have been such.
That's true but Len now has all the darkness that Rin took from people trying to save her, so he probably will wake up as another black bird. And because he now has all that in him, either he carries the darkness and never gets turned back into his natural self, or Rin dies by consuming that evil and turns cold again.

This is my interpretation of the song...
Rin AND Len are "soleil" . They probably have some kind of power? light thingy?
I think the title of "soleil" is given to those who can free one from darkness stuff.
oh well. I don't really know how to put that.
So, Kaito is the God of Death/Black Bird, which probably denotes depression.
He needs help, but i guess Len is a bit skeptical.
He probably knows that it's not good for himself if he takes on the darkness.
He'll have to trade his light for darkness, which he is unwilling to do.
Rin whole-heartedly goes to help him, taking the darkness herself.
Kaito is freed, and others come to her for help. She doesn't turn anyone down, as sung in the video.
Her light is depleting, but she keeps helping them. Finally, it takes a toll on her and Len decides to take on her darkness, to save her.
So basically, what's in my head is that they're some kind of God descendants or priests.
+Roudo Rora 'Soleil' means sun, so I don't think that you're far off with the light thing. (A bit late, but I'm obsessed with this song!)
Roudo Rora I see it more as a story of a person who was too kind to everyone and ended becoming involved in their problems until she eventually got in a worse situation than them because of trying to do help so much persons and so in the end everyone who she was helping became troubled again since she was the one who sustained them all.
The birds represent the persons who had problems and the girl the one who was helping them, her death represents her social death to the world.
Soleil means sun in French, so I assume that the sun title is given to Rin after she takes on all their darkness when she becomes their "light" or savior of some sort. IDK but I like your interpretation!

The metaphor to containing others ending up being a burden is beautifully presented in this song and video. Sometimes you're being too kind and end up listening and supporting way too many of your friends, it ends up consuming all of your mental energy until you no longer have any power to contain yourself and your own feelings. Sometimes you support people so much so that you cannot bring yourself to rely on them because you wanna look strong for them.
Why is nobody commenting about the beautiful way Rin is used? I mean, this is one of those rare songs where the voice bank is well used and sounds almost human. I mean. Wow. Just wow.

I love the tuning too! Rin's voice are soft and pure here. I think the producer used Append version on this one, but i forgot the specific name of Rin's voice bank. Man... I missed when most producers used Append at that time. The 2nd producer who i knew that used this specific bank, according to my dusty old memory (lol), is Hitoshizuku-p. Wish i can remember more 😂

+Sora Shiro I think it was more along the lines of wanting her to finally be at peace. It's kind of like if a family member get's shot and dies in real life. Even though they are dead you'd still want them to remove the bullets. Even though rin had already died len still wanted to remove the darkness. She's had to carry this burden for her whole life so she at least deserves some peace in her death. I think in the end this was what len was thinking. She purified so many people she died so she at least deserves to be pure herself in death and carrying this darkness into the afterlife.
