I've always loved Roger Miller's music for Disney's Robin Hood. This song has been on my set list every time I busk for years, but I finally got around to recording it yesterday. Thanks for watching!
My Dad would sing this to me when I was a little girl.

I remember as a kid I loved this song. I would rewind the VHS tape just to hear it again and again.

Ha ha not even close. This is a "Rogue" brand resonator guitar, the cheap store brand from Musician's Friend, it's not fancy, but I like it! You can also hear (though not see in the video) my homemade gas can guitar which you can see in some of my other videos.

It's the absolute truth that Disney doesn't share..it's the best in my opinion..
what's sad is it really does manage to sum up what's like growing up poor (and growing old poor) in Nottingham - it is a very strange place with a very 'heavy' vibe. Very high unemployment rate. Very high depression rates.
It is a very hard place to escape, but it is also a place that feels very homely if you grew up in it. It's an especially beautiful yet sad place.
I was going to comment: the song is sad, yet beautiful. Then I see you commented: Nottingham is beautiful, yet sad.

This is the most beautiful version I have heard. My dad used to watch Robin hood with me when I was a little girl. He died when I was 7 (I'm 38 now) and this version just brings tears to my eyes

The Mumford and sons version was terrible and when Logan did this cover he knocked them off the charts by far
William Chitwood they recorded that 12 years ago when they did that. if they did it today I know it would be better than their old version. They have evolved as musicians

The duration in the movie doesn't bother me
This movie is beautiful, with a second half that manages to be somehow deeply dark and depressing yet kid friendly, and you did an excellent job of covering the song that is in a sense the turning point of the movie.

Its called a resonator. It has a resonant chamber in the body that gives it that echoey, almost banjo like tone. It's frequently called a dobro, though technically a dobro usually has a different neck and is played with a slide. This one is a rogue brand, which is the economy brand. To really hear a dobro played well check out Jerry Douglas.
I went through quite a few covers of this song and yours is definitely the favorite.
