My husky barks like a metronome. Literally bark, bark, bark, and mostly to get attention from other dogs or if he sees someone standing in the street at night
mine does bark! not very often but he has a mean bark but he only barks when he gets a bad vibe from someone. It's a protective bark... once I was walking him at night in the park by my house and he spun around and started barking ferociously! it was really dark, but there was a man walking behind us, I never saw or heard him until Jackson started barking! he's definitely a protector...
My Husky is the same, I’ve had him for 9 years and I’ve never heard him bark. I’ve just got a Boxer and it’s really odd having a dog that now barks lol
Mine really barks. Has to be mad (high pitch bark) or scared mad (deep Bark)
The kind of climate they don't do so well in is humid climates, lots of moisture in the air when it's hot. The only time Key barks is if there's someone at the door haha, so he actually would make a good guard dog, but then he is a unique boy! He does love children :) People have started breeding huskies to be larger than they should be, I've seen some quite big huskies, so it's nice to see huskies the size they're meant to be, petite.

That's absolutely true. Ours got out once, and I inspected the fence to see how he'd done it. I found one plank that was askew, and went to replace the screw, figuring he'd busted it out. That's when I noticed there was no screw hole at the bottom, meaning he hadn't picked a random plank and opened it with brute force, but instead had inspected every plank until he'd found the one we'd forgotten to affix properly.
Most of these also apply to pitbulls. Except the fur. Pitbulls are any dog with a strong body, blocky head and a long strong tail. Pitbulls includes A.P.T, staffys, staffy bull terrier, American bullys and American bull dogs. They are ALL pitbulls

Not good guard dogs but I would argue they are wonderful alarm dogs. Mine make noise if my neighbor even looks at my house let alone walks onto the property and they go crazy if someone rings the doorbell. I don't want my dogs attacking robbers, just let me know they are there. Daddy'll take care of the mean robbers. :)
Same here, mine goes crazy when unexpected guests arrive and will not calm down until I tell her to but she does great when I'm out and about with her and meeting new people, it's only when guests are unexpected. I'm looking into protective dog training to see how well she does with the trainings, I wouldn't mind having her trained to maul intruders😁

As a expert on the breed they make amazing guard dogs. They are very protective of their pack aka that’s their family and space.
Yea mine does the same. She shows her teeth to people she doesn't know and growls at them. She looks scary with her blue eyes while showing her teeth. I believe most of them probably don't make good guard dogs, but mine does. You can't generalize dogs too much because they are all unique in their own way and some of them might surprise you.

Usually male Siberian Huskies can grow to the size of large. Even then, its not a huge dog breed. Its kinda like pitbulls. Ive seen some that are smaller that 35 lbs, and some that are larger at 75. Also alot of Huskies in America are mixed with Malamute, so that can confuse alot of people.

Mine is 42 lbs female I get that anytime I take her to parks. Oh is she a puppy she has alot of growing to do! Or is she a mutt? Shes so small. Because their attractive dogs I've learned you meet alot of "husky experts". Who have never owned one.

My husky barks at me when she wants to eat or poop! Especially if I didn't see that she was sitting at the door to go out.
Also, when I leave the house and leave my iPad on watch mode to I can hear her howling "ahoooo wooo ahooo wooo" because she's pissed that I left.

My husky mostly wants cuddle time. He's mad when I'm gone long hours at work and yells a lot, he is very vocal. He doesn't bark much, only at "crazy time". He's sweet with kids and over excited with adults... he never jumps on a person but jumps at them and they get nervous. I try various training stuff but I think he's a really good husky. He stole my heart the moment we met. O... an he would just yell at an intruder for not paying attention. Not a protector. Lol

Thank you for your video. While I agree with all the points it would be wrong to not mention their high prey drive when talking about aggression. I dont think prey drive is aggression, but others might and it's a good idea to talk about the difference between aggression and prey drive. My husky has a high prey drive, squirrels, rodents, possums, he hunts them and brings them to me on a regular basis! But he is the sweetest and loves people and most other dogs.

My uncle had a husky named Beast that ate a chihuahua.
I assume he thought it was prey and not another dog so for good measure dont let little dogs near them?

All dogs are different and raising and breeding factors in. My husky adored his ferret. And he has loved all his cats. Especially our calico. She rubs against his legs. He likes some dogs and other dogs not really. He loves our rescue mixed breed but actually had his hair on end and growled at a couple of pugs at the vet. I think k if someone came in with bad vibes and intended me harm he would be protective. Most people are scared of him with his blue eyes. But if we allow someone in, he is certain they came just to pet him and let him sit in their laps.

i think the "aggressive myth" comes in at people that don't understand husky-talk....they think the moans groans are growls sometimes.....kind like old ladies LOL
Same for Welsh Corgi Pembrokes. Just when its really hot gentlely spread cool water on them and give lots of water sometimes would even put some ice cubes in my old corgi as well if especially hot out.

The no bark thing is 100% a myth. My husky barks A LOT (although he is also part German Shepherd). He will also howl, but there’s way more barking.
They also really don’t make good guard dogs. They’re more likely to help a robber carry out the television than defend the house. They sometimes do make good watchdogs, though, and might bark excitedly to let you know when you get visitors. The bottom line is that they’re friendly dogs. They’re very social creatures and like meeting new people.

Spot on about everything! I think I'm a bit lucky with the barking though as my 2 def don't bark much.. They give a few woofs if someone is coming near the house or any noise but don't think it would be enough to scare away potential robbers!
My husky was born in Phoenix, AZ where I live and she does just fine with the summer heat. In fact she Loves to lay out in the sun during the hot part of the day! I have to force her to come into the house to cool off. Their double coat is insulation so as it keeps them warm it also keeps them cool during hot weather. Just like having insulation in a home. Insulation keeps you cool as well as warm.

That’s true but from all dogs breeds they are most related to wolves
We rescued a wolf hybrid from being put down as a pup and is now the sweetest best dog friend around. We wanted her to have a friend at home and got a Siberian husky. Naturally Murphy’s law kicked in and we picked the jerk of all huskies. He never plays with the wolf, steals her toys, and cuts her off whenever he has the chance. One day at the dog park some jack a** brought his little terrier to the big dog park. Typical little man syndrome it was running around terrorizing all the dogs. My wolf is terrified of other dogs as is her nature. Husky man hates them to but just because he’s a jerk. He was about 200 yards away probably smelling a stump when the terrier went after our wolf. She could easily handle her own but had no need. The husky was there in a couple seconds and had the terrier pinned with a smile on his face. The terriers owner freaked on us but our husky got a standing ovation from all the other dog owners. I’ve always loved huskies but that was the day we decided we would put up with his jerkiness. Poor guys was rehomed 7 times before we got him. Their gorgeous dogs but not for the faint of heart.
Disclaimer: our backyard is 2 acres all fenced in and I’ve worked with S&R dogs and wolves before so please no lecturers on owning hybrids.

Yeah, they definitely still do bark. My husky does howl more than bark but he still does bark sometimes.
Well my husky is a year old this April and while he is sweet and affectionate at times, he is territorial over anything, even leaves. And if he tears something up, you cannot touch it without getting bit, unless you move him somehow and put a gate up. I've also had the experience where he can hold a grudge and approach you with his teeth showing and he has bit me more than a few times mainly because i've likely tricked him with a treat to get what he tears up away from him. Other than that, he is a sweetheart and he's calmed down quite a lot.
I have learned things about Huskies on your channel and have been misinformed about some things, glad you do your research or from experience? Either way I love watching your videos and your dogs are amazing but I also started watching your videos cause you're entertaining to watch and plus your dogs are so cute 😁😜 I can't wait to own 1... or maybe 2. Keep up the good videos, always look forward to watching them

I have a springer spaniel But we just bought an husky they are so adorable
I have 2 , a purebred Siberian who will be 7 on 3/2/20 and a Siberian, Arctic wolf who turned 5 on 12/11/2019. Both are spayed females , and I've had the since very young puppies. I had a rescue Siberian for several years who passed away. The two purebreds talk and occasionally howl when encouraged. The wolf husky talks and howls. She also barks quietly when someone she doesn't know and seems threatening comes in her territory. We take long walks and go to dog parks. I am retired and we spend a lot of time together. When we pass a yard with a husky and another dog, the other dog barks. Huskies recognize other huskies and want to play.

My purebred Siberian Husky is an exception, he almost never howls or barks, will very very occasionally make a small shirt wine howl, he does bark, but maybe only once every week or every 2 weeks hahaha

Huskies like to (what I like to call) "yowl", which sounds like a cross between a yodel and a howl. So yeah, they DO bark, just some of them prefer to do so as a yowl.
Loved the video! Theres a TH-cam groomer that keeps shaving double coated dogs and I get responded saying thats just an opinion when I provide facts lol. Shaving huskies/double coated dogs is a huge pet peave of mine haha. Aurora (black and blue eyes) is 35lbs pure sibe, Loki is male 58lbs, Liv female is like 54lbs (it wouldnt hurt if she lost a few lbs)

My husky was a former sled dog, he clocked in at around 85 pounds.

I for the most part agree with everything you said except for the Barking. I have never seen a Siberian Husky barking. I've had two that I raised and neither one of them barked. The little female I think I heard her really bark one time and my boy he's probably bark three times in his life and he is over 12 years old. They would howl sometimes and make their goofy little sounds but not the barking.

People seem to think that Samoyeds are big dogs too. But they pretty medium sized dogs and most of their physical size comes from the fur, they shrink in the rain.

We have had our husky for 6 years in December, She is the most quiet and non vocal husky I have ever met. Never Howls only barks when mom is home alone during the night to let her know someone or something is moving by the house. Such a cuddle bug, But a few weeks ago I saw the true prowess of this breed. She got into it with a possum in the backyard and well shes okay not a scratch but cant say the same for the poor guy she got on. Its amazing after almost 6 years of love affection and cuddles, I saw the true animalistic side of her. It made me respect this breed that much more. Love and cuddles and taking care of her pack to just a pure hunting machine.

i think the myth about huskies being large dogs stems from a combination of 'extra large' dog vests being needed for them because for some reason a large dog vest wont fit anything bigger than 40 pounds...and the fact many insurances (homeowners, renters etc) consider dogs over 35 pounds to be 'large' dogs.
My Husky Shepherd mixes make awesome gaurd dogs by the way, the bark to let me know 'hey someone is here' then run and hide.
Have a husky and a malamute. My husky is 2 years older but everyone just assumes she’s the younger one since the breeds look similar but the malamute is so much bigger. Though my husky is on the small size at about 40 pounds with the malamute at about 75.
Ours never barks unless there is some risk, ours is a great guard dog, he can be agressive if he feels the need to protect. They are individual, not all are the same. Love your dogs and your channel.

When I had my husky we trimmed her hair we didn’t really shave it but we would try to thin out the layer of hair
If you have a wooly husky, that may be the case and that's fine. Just never shave them to the skin. :)
