This is a good thouhtful review.
I agree with you that there is too much choice , referring to the food.
We have stayed twice at akumal and love it.
As soon as we arrive, we book our a la cartes for our 2 week stay.
Using the main restaurants for breakfast and dinner.
We highly recommend this hotel.
We think its the best value hotel in the riviera maya.
