  • On this episode, we do our first range test with the new 56ah battery setup! It's one of the more treacherous range tests as me, Sal and Anas travel across 3 boroughs via the south shore of Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island. As per usual, we do aggressive riding most of the time to get the true real world range.

    Glad for this info. Any possibility of doing a more casual type of ride at some slower speeds so we can see what type of range can be achieved without pushing it so much?

    Do you use a blender for those batteries? I haven't found one that can handle 80+ amps for a reasonable price. And is there any triangle battery you can recommend to fit the X-class that isn't too pricey? Those molicels are nice, but seem so high. Also, Sal never responds to my messages for help so it's hard to justify buying from him but if they are the best option I might give it a try.

    • @JB360_NYC
      @JB360_NYC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Newlyn, if you're linking 2 72V batteries I would definitely go the parallel connection route. It's the cheapest and best way to link them and all you need is the wire harness and a volt meter to do it (video coming soon on this). The triangle batteries that Sal has from NB Power (non Molicel) are perfectly fine especially if you're looking to hit the 50mph+ mark. I would go with 2 20ah triangles from his site. I would def try calling his cell as he responds almost instantly via phone.

    • @Nelwyn
      @Nelwyn ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JB360_NYC I got one that looks like his from NB Power directly and it's 20 Ah. I'm looking into having UPP build a custom one for me if they can, but still waiting to hear back.
      I'll keep an eye out for your parallel battery video if it's really easy. I just feel like I'd probably short something out trying that.
      I did actually try calling Sal a few hours ago, but the phone just rang. I'm not sure if I need to talk to him anyway unless he could work a discount on the battery. That 29 Ah looks enticing. I paid $680 for the one I got now so it's hard spending that much for a Molicel one unless it's really that much better.
      I need to use mine a few more times since it's still new. I just had it die on me on my first long ride when it said 67V so I'm hoping it just needs some breaking in.

    • @JB360_NYC
      @JB360_NYC  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yea I would give the battery a good balancing maybe two 12 hour charging sessions and the range will get better. The 29ah Molicel pack was definitely a game changer and could hold a charge better than 2 NB Power ones combined. Extra torque as well.

    Sick ride! Other than your buddy getting a flat but glad that was fixed. Quick question man, I just put together the light kit from E Street Bikes on my 72 volt x-class and nothing turned on. Tried switching some wires around and still nothing. When I went to charge the battery for the very first time, the light on the charger stays green. Is this normal for the first time you charge or is there something wrong?

    • @JB360_NYC
      @JB360_NYC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting, I would double check and make sure the QS8 cables are sitting tight. When I switched to the Molicel packs, I had to really force the connector in forcefully lol. The charger should be showing red and you'll hear the fan when it's charging.
      I have the wiring diagram for the lights so let me know if that works for you:

    What bike did Sal have before he mod’d it out?
    Edit: Well that kinda doesn’t make sense fr lol Cuz he still has it whether mod’d or not so I just meant what bike is that like the frame he had before mod’n it?? Super 73 or what??? I genuinely could not tell from the views on this vid and just wanted to know if you don’t mind just curious that’s all. I really want a Super and I want to know the different ways I can mod it if/when I do want the extra speed torque and range. Might not do much performance wise except an extra battery and then when those go bad or just start lacking from usage I’ll probably upgrade voltage wise and get the whole battery controller and motor kit. But they cost so much I just have to go ahead and ride that 40v 20ah battery and stock motor and controller for at least a year or two so I don’t feel like I scammed myself I guess😂I just can’t snatch them right off as soon as I get it just because I want the performance upgrades. Gotta just roll stock for a min. Then I’ll either sell them or just get rid of em if they go bad in that timeframe I guess. But thanks for the content bro. Seen a few vids so far and it’s entertaining and dropping some knowledge on things so I appreciate that brother. Keep it up and stay safe out there on your rides my guy🤟✌️
    Edit: sorry for the long ass comment man that was not my intent at first and I just started blab’n about shit from a simple question bro smh😂

    Doesn't seem like that much battery is really worth it for the price. Unless you didn't have the 5000w on the last range test. 36miles to 40 miles isn't a big difference. Either the extra weight of the battery or maybe you were going a lot faster this time. Maybe 40a is the sweet spot. Good video though glad your doing this so we all can learn something.

    • @JB360_NYC
