Nothing the onion does is a joke...it is satire...the truth veiled in something so absurd that it can't be taken seriously, and therefore attacked. I voted Obama...all my friends did...not a single one them can name something universally positive he did...he was thoroughly disappointing as a president...not a bad president but disappointing because he had great opportunity to change the course of the country and he kept status quo in favor of compromise...the the opposing sides just got more racist, richer, and bolder.

The US has been a Net-Exporter of oil for about the last 50 years. That's why our gas prices are so low compared to other countries which charge $10-15/gallon.

If you own a car, you are legally forced to buy insurance for it. You could have absolutely no accidents on your record, be a completely safe driver, and still you have to buy it. The reason for it is to protect others from potential harm you might cause. It's the same thing with your health; if you get sick, why should I have to pay for it through my taxes?

Except that those "poor people's" bills ARE on the backs of everyone else who is with that insurance company. The difference between a government healthcare system supported by taxes, and a private one supported by insurance premiums to private companies, is that the government doesn't do it for profit and thus more of the money you would pay as your part of the health system would actually go to healthcare.

Wish we had an insurance model here in the UK, the NHS sucks balls. Ineffective, expensive and not fit for purpose. Not so bad as long as you don't need anything doing in a hurry or require an expensive drug. Doesn't matter how much tax you've paid in your life, if your postcode isn't on the list, you don't get it. The real insult is they don't even pay for your funeral!

Ummmmm, no. We do not ration our oil. We sell it as quick as we refine it. In fact the only reason we buy oil from the middle east is that we can refine and resell it. A lot of countries can drill for oil but few actually turn that oil into a useful product.

When government mandates healthcare, prices will skyrocket. This is why people cannot afford to pay their own bills. Go to Thailand, major surgeries barely cost a couple grand over there, routine checkups are a few bucks, the price of a haircut here.
It's absolutely immoral for the government to provide healthcare. No one has to right to take my money, and give it to someone else. If I want to help them, I will, but it's my choice. Forced charity is an oxymoron.
