    6 months is enough to become to be landed a junior developer role! Nowadays they look for people with more or less 5 years experience for a junior developer role. That's insane.

      That is not true at all. Senior roles look for 5 years. Junior is less than 1 year, maybe 2 max. And even then 2 years is Intermediate at some companies. Not sure where you got this information from

    Just got accepted for a degree in Computer Science, been so skeptical to get another qualification since I'm already qualified in health sciences, but I'm really passionate about tech and thanks for this video because there's been a lot of "you don't need another degree, just do short certificates" voices.     I dont live in south Africa anymore im overseas studying in artificial intelligence engineering degree but i want to return once im done with my degree and hopefully get a software(machine learning, python developer or full stack) job in cape town , do you think with no work experience id be able to land a entry level job or should i work overseas for a year or two before deciding to shift back to sa?

      If you have the opportunity to work for a yea or two overseas rather do that. Its gonna make it very easy for you to get a job when you return than coming back with just a degree and no experience

      Computer isn’t hard. I’m sure you’ll definitely enjoy the coding part of it. The hard part about it is the math. You’ll do a lot of math modules like Real analysis, multi variable calculus and differential equations. That’s the hard part about it. But if you stay strong and soldier on you’ll be fine

      Yeah ,there are a lot of resources that can get you there.Based on what I know currently a lot of companies are looking for skills.
      Depending on which path you want follow some just need critical thinkers. When it comes to math I think that come in if you wanted to follow the data path like being a data scientist ,data engineering

    After homeschooling for my high school career, and getting my American GED. I applied to a private international college here in Joburg, and I got accepted to do Software Development! I start tomorrow so it's been very valuable hearing from people with real experience like you and it sets my mind at ease, I only touched coding once for a week or so learning a bit of C++ to make a calculator so I was nervous about the idea of going into a professional learning environment for it, but I think I'll do fine :)

      You are on the right track, I would suggest you focus mainly on HTML, CSS and JavaScript and leave Python for now. Dive more deep into JavaScript by learning some JS Frameworks(e.g. NodeJS, Next JS etc)

      IT is programming focused learning whilst computer science has a lot more maths. For someone not interested in too much maths IT is a good option.

      Nothing, its an okay programme but not tailor made for the South African market. Theres better platforms in SA like WeThinkCode, Umuzi etc. Rather you try the South African based platforms then if you cant get space then go for ALX

      Its not a South African bootcamp so theres some better SA alternatives that are also free but if you cant get into any of those ALX isn’t that bad.
