  • Craig Ferguson joins the table to regale his 'Late Late Show' hosting days, growing up in Scotland and the future of comedy.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
About Craig: Craig Ferguson is a Scottish-American comedian, actor, writer, and television host. He is best known for hosting the CBS late-night talk show The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (2005-2014), for which he won a Peabody Award for his interview with South African archbishop Desmond Tutu in 2009.
After leaving The Late Late Show in December 2014, he hosted the syndicated game show Celebrity Name Game (2014-2017), for which he won two Daytime Emmy Awards, and Join or Die with Craig Ferguson (2016) on History.[2] In 2017, he released a six-episode web show with his wife, Megan Wallace Cunningham, titled Couple Thinkers.[3][4] In 2021, he hosted The Hustler, television game show that aired on ABC from 4 January to 23 September 2021.
After starting his career in the UK with music, comedy, and theatre, Ferguson moved to the US, where he appeared in the role of Nigel Wick on the ABC sitcom The Drew Carey Show (1996-2004). Ferguson has written three books: Between the Bridge and the River, a novel; American on Purpose (2009), a memoir; and Riding the Elephant: A Memoir of Altercations, Humiliations, Hallucinations & Observations (2019). He holds both British and American citizenship.
    About Tom:
Tom Papa, a celebrated stand-up comedian with over 20 years in the industry, has made significant strides in film, television, radio, podcasts, and live performances. Notably, he's a regular on "The Joe Rogan Experience" and various late-night TV shows. Papa's literary skills are evident in his books “We’re All In This Together” and "You’re Doing Great!: And Other Reasons To Stay Alive," a collection of essays, and "Your Dad Stole My Rake: And Other Family Dilemmas," a comedic look at family life. His latest stand-up specials are “Tom Papa: What A Day!” and "Tom Papa: You’re Doing Great!" on Netflix.
Beyond comedy, Papa's engagements extend to hosting "What A Joke With Papa And Fortune" on SiriusXM and appearing on NPR's "Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me." His love for baking led to hosting the Food Network series "Baked." As an actor, he's worked with notable figures like Rob Zombie and Steven Soderbergh and has appeared in several films and TV shows, including the HBO film "Behind the Candelabra." Additionally, Papa has contributed as a writer to projects like "Bee Movie" and various TV series. Residing in Los Angeles with his family, Papa continues to balance his professional life with personal interests like baking.

@oneofus6924 Do you think current in charge TV people and the larger audience would put up with his flirting now? I agree with you the guests knew what they were walking into and they did enjoy it clearly. I think he'd be in internet trouble about twice a week, if he was lucky, and TV higher up trouble weekly. I'm not trying to stir things up, I loved his show, and Craig has said repeatedly he wouldn't come back, so this is just a hypothetical conversation.

Craig...on the off chance you may ever read this comment...
Speaking for myself and tons of fans of Craig's... we miss you and I don't watch any late night anymore... these days I watch clips of your show on youtube... a lot from Jay Leno Fly channel.
The vortex of Scottish charm may be a part of why I so enjoyed you...
      The accent... sexy
Appearance... sexy/ handsome... I'm sorry you were concerned about your weight... we thought you looked good all the time.
      Personality... charming
I know you mentioned you didn't go to college and left high school, but intelligence isn't about schooling... there are a lot of PhDs that are extremely stupid... they simply have expertise, or have been told they are experts, in one area.
      Your innate intelligence is obvious.
You seem to have a good heart.
You are pretty open and honest about your past.
You are so funny and I loved when you cracked yourself up or Secretariat or Geoff Peterson cracked you up.
You were so wonderful with the guests.
You are such an amazing flirt...it was fun to watch.
I do wish you had enjoyed doing and continued with your late night show... you are so missed!!!
I miss your impression of Michael Caine, Sean Connery... I loved when you had Michael Caine on... Anthony Hopkins... not enough time to list all the guests... it seemed like your guests had more fun on your show than any other.
Wishing you and your family well.
      P. S.
On hunting... for people who are not vegetarian or vegan, many hunt to be able to afford protein... especially these days with inflation, people can't always afford buying meat from the grocery store. Most hunters, but not all, are very big supporters of wildlife and keeping nature healthy so they can always have game around to feed their families. There are of course some who don't consume what they hunt, which i don't like...trophy hunters, but most deer hunters, turkey hunters, duck hunters do so because they enjoy procuring their own food and some also do so because store bought animal protein is too expensive.
Many also grow their own fruits and vegetables on their land. They often believe in self sufficiency.

Of the whole summer’s guest offerings, Craig stood out like a sore thumb. He had a natural ability to humanize his guests.. especially some of the big names.. that was instantly engaging, funny and quirky in a way that was perfect for herbal enthusiasts as well. The show was low budget, so the suits gave him a long leash. And it massively paid off.

Had the pleasure of watching Craig's act in Pittsburgh right at the end of covid and it was a lot of fun. His energy really is amazing and the only thing that would have made it better is subtitles, lol. His Scottish accent was sometimes really hard to decipher.

It is amazing, how any event in space-time continuum, that has Craig Ferguson anywhere near it, just becomes an unaired episode of The Late Late Show with CraigyFerg. I absolutely fond of how brutally honest and genuine Craig is.
I never was a fan of talk shows. I fell in love with CF&GP that instant, although I had to watch everything on youtube when show was still on (I'm from Russia). I tried to find a new hero after Craig's retirement - nope, turned out what's on your TV right now is pretty much the same crap, driven by same old patterns.
Craig was real like drunken uncle living in your parents' house attic for the past 10 years is real. He just didn't give a fuck, which, along with his charisma, made that show so gorgeous.
I've just understood, that for some reason my comment looks like an epitaph - didn't plan it that way and blame my age. From some time on everything you say is either rant or epitaph.
I love you, CF and JP, you made my life better.

It was so funny when he said that he worried about his accent and weight when he was on the Late Late Show and then hired James Corden. 🤣 He was not a very good host at all. He had no natural flair for it. Talking of Britany Spiers, Craig was the 1st one I heard say to leave her alone because she didn't deserve the mocking she received. I loved him for his humanity. He's easy on the eye, too. 😊😊
