I'm so sick of people saying this isn't jacyln's fault...this has been several releases now that have been low quality of extremely disappointing. She should have been checking quality. She had the money to do that. It's her brand her lipstick. It's her job to check quality...it IS partly her fault
Jaclyn kept says she created this collection all by herself. Now that something goes wrong she starts blaming the production. Before blaming production she blamed her first customers who publicly shared that they were dissatisfied. Her name is on the product. She should have been more diligent with quality control. And she was warned about using that factory.
Yep. The company is ultimately responsible for the safety of their product. That also includes the manufacturing and storage of it. He mistake was not recalling the product immediately once people were reporting contaminated and expired lipsticks.
SophieSophs I agree. If it was really .1% a company would never give out refunds to everyone who bought the product. She’s just “trying” to save herself at this point and some people still have not received their refunds.
Take high res photos of the hairs under your microscope and post it to Reddit’s whatisthisthing subreddit. They also probably have a microbiology or zoology subreddit.
I’ve worked in an exotic animal veterinary clinic for 4 years as a technician. I’ve looked at pretty much every animal hair under a microscope especially when dealing with small mites and flea eggs. That hair you found looks like either cat or rat hair. Mouse hair looks like tiny square building blocks while these are more rounded. (: good luck girl! I’ll ask my boss at work tomorrow and get his opinion. He has been an exotic animal veterinarian for over 20+ years. UPDATE: I asked my boss on his opinion and the hairs to him look like either rat, mink, or chinchilla hair. He wanted to include lab mouse hair as well. He claimed if it is mouse hair, then they are the albino mouse they use in labs and research purposes ( white with red eyes), not wild type or the type you would find in your house. I hope this helps (:
There was a website someone linked and I almost felt like it looked most like mink hairs? (Based on the samples of the website: www.microlabgallery.com/hair.aspx )
@@Smadaravner What does her choice of clothing have to do with her intelligence? Im sick of this stereotype, that every intelligent person is automatically unattractive, uncool, nerdy, unpopular and uninterested in fashion. It's summer, it's probably very hot where she lives.
The LAB is not at fault. The manufacturing facility she used with improper QC is at fault. These were not produced in a lab - perhaps the R&D portion was but the rest were mass produced in a FACTORY. I think that’s an important clarification to make!
You are 100 % correct. My oldest daughter is a chemist at a lab, youngest daughter is in Quality Control and does lab testing and hubby has always worked in a factory. Vats are never wiped down with towels as that can lead to contamination. They are power washed. These have been made in a nasty , dirty factory !
Tiffy Name: Oxygen Development Corp. Headquarters & Manufacturing Facility Description: Tilt-Wall Office/Warehouse/Manufacturing. That’s the official title of the facility.
Tiffy I get what you’re saying and I understand the thought process but their website www.oxygendevelopment.com does not have a single mention of a lab in their facility.
ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!! Every time I get on TH-cam I'm actually shocked at how much she's uploaded for us!!! It took me a minute to realize she is in fact uploading EVERY! DAY! It's so wonderful that Cassandra cares about us having new things to learn, BUT I also hope she remembers to take care of herself... 💛🦋
the lab’s mess up isn’t Jaclyn’s fault- we all get that, right? What is her fault: - her decision to go with the lab - her unprofessional treatment of people who initially raised concerns - her continued instance that they’re 100% safe despite the concerns - her unprofessional tone& deflection in an apology video that even she said later was cringey - her continued decision to not recall the product - her continued lies and misrepresentation of the facts (white gloves) - her company’s lack of QC - her continued use of anxiety as an excuse for not behaving appropriately as if the hundreds of thousands of other with MH struggles can say that for poor performance at work that’s the tip of the iceberg on why we’re mad a Jaclyn I don’t believe she knowingly released these or wanted this or personally put the hair and metal in the product.
As someone who owns rats, just by looking at the hairs without a microscope, I have been saying they look just like rat hairs since the first time I saw them!
@@singingfan or the warehouse that they put the lipstick bullets were infested some time in the last 4 or 5 years. Her Lipstick could've been made this year but those components are old!
singingfan It’s not like they’re grinding up rats and putting them in the lipsticks lol. It’s most likely that the lab/warehouse has rats/mice running around which is common for places like that to have pests.
However, if she KNEW that this lab was responsible for other brand owners (Marlena stell) contaimenated products and STILL used the lab I THEN feel it is her fault 😥.
Was it really the same lab though? Did she confirm 100% that it was? I know that she said she met her there but I wouldn't think it's unlikely for someone to try out different labs either before settling on one to do a mass production. I for one don't want any accusations spread when there's already so many unanswered questions, just want facts. Jacylyn's lipsticks aren't like anything I have seen that's why I'm wondering if it's even the same lab as what Marlena used, since her products didn't look to be contaminated or defective by the same means.
if you're in the bay, you could try asking some of the bio professors at the UCs or CSUs or Stanford for an opinion. in my professional experience, many professors are open to helping, but it's been so long for me that I don't have a relationship with any anymore. otherwise I would refer you. good luck!
I disagree with you when it comes to Jaclyn not being at fault. She is absolutely at fault. Its her brand, her name and her company and she is responsible for the overall overseeing of the lab, the quality control, the refunds and the MUCH NEEDED RECALL. I so over some people defending Jaclyn. She had 5 years to oversee all of this issues. She snapped back at the 1st customer for thes issues. She has lied more times than just this launch.
Alexis NoName I think they’re both at fault, it’s not solely ones fault over the other. This labs whole job is creating product and ensuring that it doesn’t get contaminated. At the same time it’s Jaclyn’s responsibility to choose labs that she knows take their job seriously and also checking to make sure the quality is what was promised. They’re both at fault in their own way.
Yeah she is at fault but so is the lab. Everyone is so mad at Jacylyn (rightfully so) that she's become their scapegoat in a sense. They shouldn't even be operating in such conditions and she shouldn't have sold their products without checking the end product herself.
Those who have never studied nor worked within a lab should understand, she has a say in what happens before and after the production of a product but not during the actual physical production once it starts. (Don't know why people are acting as if she made them by hand herself, that's why brands hire a lab ppl) They follow their own guidelines and have their own supervisors. Jacylyn hired them, that was their responsibility, but they failed her by making it. We payed Jacylyn but she failed us by selling them, not recalling and saying they're safe when she doesn't even know herself.
If you burn the hairs you can tell if its protein/natural fiber v.s. synthetic! Since you have a microscope, and if the hair looks "scaley" v.s. "twisted & hairy", then it's definitely from an animal.
Quite frankly, it has a cortex, it’s not synthetic. Case closed. Regardless of WHICH living thing it’s from, it’s STILL from a living creature. Recall needed to happen ASAP but JH is still claiming that they’re perfectly safe to use. Yeah? Tell that to an immunocompromised pt
i posted the pictures in zoology and microbiology subreddits. UPDATE: an experienced microbiologist who taught forensics claimed that because the pattern of the hair is consistent with ladder medulla, there is a high chance it could be rat hair.
So many people are allergic to rats (myself included) I bet that's where the big swollen lips are coming from. If I were to put that on my lips I know for a fact they would do exactly that.
That actually looks like rat hair vs mice hair. Rat hair looks like cells stacked on top of each other. Mice hair looks like blocks with small lines between them. From your pic Id say it's from rats.
Not sure where you are, but most state universities have extensions that will help you identify things like this (the university of Illinois extension helped my dad identify what was killing some plants in his garden a couple years ago).
I know of a story about a zoo that used a lab to identify animal hair via microscopy to figure out which wild animal was stealing the food they put out for the zoo animals lol
I know I’d prefer if you split it into parts or maybe put time stamps in the videos if they’re still super long. But girl, Take a break. I’d say don’t worry about posting daily videos right now. I’m super excited to see what you find in this experiment. And if that means you need to take 1, 2, 3 weeks off from other stuff (or whatever) then do it. Thanks for your hard work.
It’s not the land fault it’s the manufactures AND Jaclyn’s fault. The lab is where the initial batches are designed and sent off for production. Jaclyn made it seem as is she had her hands in this the whole time and now that shit has hit the fan is running and hiding. If she was honest from jump things could’ve went better for her but she chose to stay quiet and when she spoke she just lied. 🤦🏽♀️
You go girl! So proud of you Cass!! Take your time, it's ok if your daily videos take a back seat for the moment....We know this is important to bring attention to. With that said, I think a 2 or 3 part video will suffice for me and divided into parts within each video. But I don't know if that works for you! Love you💙
I was skeptical about the rumors that the hairs on the lipsticks were animal hairs, but after seeing the photos in your video I'm APPALLED. When examining hair, a Medulla is basically a collection of cells running through the hair (not all hairs have a Medulla, and many human hairs do not). When the Medulla is present in human hairs, it's often fragmented (although this can differ) and the width is 1/3 or less than the diameter of the shaft. The Medulla in animal hairs is typically continuous or interrupted (which imo looks like the photo on screen, but I could be wrong) and its width is 1/2 or GREATER than the diameter of the shaft. Another way you can distinguish animal vs human hair is the pigmentation. The pigmentation in human hair is typically consistent throughout the shaft, while animal hair can change color in short distances throughout the shaft. This can be used as an identification method, but not necessarily alone (for example, human hairs can also have unevenly distributed pigment. Afro Textured hair usually exhibits this under a microscope). There's no way for any of us to confirm or deny that it's animal hair without sending the hair to a lab, but now I wouldn't be surprised if it was animal hair. This information is all stuff that I learned while studying Criminalistics in college. Here is a resource that talks more in depth about some of this info in case this all sounds like gibberish, and you'd like to see photos: archives.fbi.gov/archives/about-us/lab/forensic-science-communications/fsc/july2004/research/2004_03_research02.htm If anyone has more to add please do. I'm glad that this is being brought up.
Thanks for explaining, very interesting. These findings are really quite disturbing. Also, to be more accurate you should phrase it "afro-textured hair" or "natural black hair" to reflect the full demographic it encompasses. I know this isn't a scientific paper but it helps make it clear what type of hair you are talking about.
My mom went into acute liver failure September 2018. She was lucky to get listed 1A and received a donor! She LOVES nudes and I almost got these for her. So GLAD I didn’t, as she is immune compromised! Jaclyn needs to issue a recall, and this lab needs to be shut down!!!!!!
I'm not a vet or in hair forensics but I did learn about hair and the different types and see them under magnification because I'm a cosmetologist. Obviously we learn mostly about Human hair, but because a lot of weave and extensions are made of animal hair ( yes If you wear extensions they may very well not all be Human hair lol) we did in fact also see and learn about different types of animal hair as well. I can say with 100% certainty it is in fact organic and not synthetic. We also seen synthetic hair under magnification as it's also in extensions. You'd be surprised what we actually learn to be stylists. Chemistry, anatomy, etc.. While Human hair and animal hair have differences, they are also very similar. It's what makes us all mammals afterall. So while I can't verify the type of animal with certainty I can verify that it is absolutely actual hair from an animal because what we are seeing is the medulla pattern. It's not same medulla pattern that any human hair has, so it's definitely an animal. Any inorganic fibers would not have a medulla. Plain and simple. This does. So the question now becomes what type which is actually important. It can be an issue if animal testing or it could be an issue of the lab having a ray or mouse infestation. Neither are good. The infestation it's bad in the fact that if there's that many the lipsticks can be contaminated with more than hair. They may have droppings mixed in as well. 🤢.
I think you are incredibly sweet and compassionate. I have made and sold beauty products (soap and lotions) while on a smaller scale, I was global. There were days where I worked 16 hours to get oatmeal bars out for a baby shower, 180 candy heart bars a woman in New York needed overnight shipped and a metric ton of lotion to a woman in California who colored and scented it and resold it. Performance and the aesthetics of my products were important. Quality control was critical. I didn’t outsource anything but if I had, you can guarantee, I’d be all over it. With soooo many issues she clearly wasn’t paying attention and let it slip. I just wanted a hobby that paid for itself. My price point was slightly below market and it quickly turned into an out of control monster. I decided to let it go because of health issues and I knew it was getting too big for me to maintain my standards. Plus I was so busy filling orders I had no time to create anything new, which was my passion Looks to me like jacklyn didn’t acknowledge or accept her limitations and kinda half assed it. It WAS her fault. Oh well. Lessons learned, I hope
It is Jaclyn’s fault as equally as the lab . She has the duty as a ceo to do her QC as she said she did . It’s her duty to make a team and place each person in their position. She was warned about the lab, she made bad choices . Also, there’s no way she didn’t walk through the lab as her products were coming out or being package . She was detailed enough as a ceo should be . She has fault . You seem so smart and lively but don’t say she deserve to be held accountable . She needs to recall and she herself should do the impossible to have the lab audited and exposed. She and any other major figure that has worked or know the lab .
While Jaclyn has refunded the lipsticks she has NOT recalled them. The recall is the step which goes beyond giving lip service responsibility to actually taking responsibility for her business and her productions.
O.M.G. this is so crazy disgusting. I do appreciate you coming out with this. This is sooo important. How tf is the FDA sitting on this? C'mon already.. **Please & Thank You for continuing to do such an awesome job of informing us about what we put on our most precious commodity, which is our bodies.💞💞
@@heather_doestruecrime I'm aware they can't force a recall. But what I dont understand is why they can't get someone out to this lab. Our so call protection that cannot do anything in a situation like this is reprehensible. I do know they can do testing and they can make the public aware of what is actually in them. I'm in absolute awe of how bad this keeps getting.
We appreciate you too Cassandra! Thank you for putting so much effort into your content, it really shows! It's enjoyable to watch a youtuber who is educated and passionate about their work. Hope you're doing well 💕 Hang in there!!
This is jaclyn fault. She tested the lipsticks along with family. She said she had been wearing them. She knew there were things in the lipstick. How could she not. There is a video clip of her pulling something from her own collection of lipsticks and questioning what it was. They should have been inspected further and pulled. I hope to God it is not animal hair for her sake and the people using them.
If these were old lipsticks, which it appears they were, then it is definitely her responsibility! It is her company, her products, her choice of labs, her decisions. It was her decision to use old product...her fault!
I appreciate what you’re doing. I think that we need to make scientific knowledge common knowledge. I also agree that the lab where the lipsticks were produced needs to be reprimanded. However, Jaclyn was fully aware of the labs issues, but she allowed the lipsticks to be sold to the public. For this, it is her fault and she is equally responsible. As consumers we need to hold companies accountable for their actions. Likewise, companies need to take responsibility for their actions. I look forward to more of your videos!♥️
I want all the information. If its easier to cut it up for editing purposes then go for it. If its easier to just make one video then that's okay too. I already binge hours of you lol if its one video that long it wouldn't bother me at all. I would be so excited
Would love it broken down into separate vids! Broken up in categories that you see fit! Thank you for being so thorough in this! I think this is so much more beneficial, productive, and helpful than the drama we all have witnessed lately.. Thank you for stating facts and doing the research! It is really appreciated!!
Sending emotional support to you & your equipment! Don’t feel stressed or rushed, this is a huge project you undertook and this wasn’t something anyone else was doing so that in itself is AMAZING regardless of the results. As always your worth ethic is admirable & just my input I would rather a big video about all the import stuff and then a smaller ones about the in-depth stuff😄
OOOH MY GOD. This needs to go viral. It’s disgusting and terrifying. Girl you’ve done an AMAZING job!! Please don’t say this isn’t Jaclyn’s fault- this WAS her responsibility. I think you should make one single long video, so that everything is in place together.
Going to be interested to hear what you cultured out as I work in a medical bio lb and several of use were lipstick purchasers and of course the first thing we did when we saw the condition of out lipsticks was culture them for bacteria and fungi, both of which turned out some interesting growths as well as some interesting findings on resistances and susceptibilities for cultures we grew from the lipsticks. As for where to go for your hair analysis, most vets, as we have learned, are not going to want to get involved in something like this and most are also not experts on id'ing animal hair. Your best bet is going to be the closest University to you with a vet school or a medical school, Either one would have the personal and facilities to be able to tell you what type of hair you are seeing. the other option is ti see if you can contact a local microbiologist who may have the experience to tell you what type of hair you are looking at, or can match it to exemplars and make an official statement about what he or she found and what they matched. I agree with you, because of the significant row of what looks like scales down the shaft, that they are rodent hairs of some type but its been years since my last microbiology class that looked at hairs as part of the course so my memory may not be perfect, however it also matches the images in my books on comparative anatomy. And while the lab could be at fault, its just as likely that everything was fine there but where there and the product was not produced in 3 weeks time right up to launch date but some years ago and may not have been warehoused well and also may have gone past its shelf life. I will tell you that part of what we discovered would lead to the explanation that the organic materials were breaking down which does not happen in 3 weeks unless you really messed up your formula and some had to be fresh contamination probably achieved with people trying to clean up the worst of the noticeable mess and repackage the product. My belief is that what they were doing for 3 weeks before launch were trying to prep old stock to look brand new, and they failed miserably at that.We also note that Jaclyn does tend to go to the lowest bidder it appears so her warehouse and storage may not have been as good or rodent free as she thought. Especially over a long period of time. Jaclyn would love everyone to fall for her blaming the lab and turning her into a victim of their poor practices, at least the ones she states they had, but that is on the bottom line her fault. You want the best product you go with the best, not the lowest bidder. When you tell your viewers and the community that your hands on ever step of the way you are not sitting in Florida the whole time or out collabing with other brands, you checking on at least a weekly basis on what your lab and production facility is doing. If she really did produce them in those 3 weeks we know that she was in florida and nowhere near a cosmetics lab or production facility anywhere or she would not have been in florida. And the publicity picture in the lab does not mean she was ever near the lab as that could have totally be a set designed for the photo shoot and why so much of it was blurry. i doubt that they were taken in a lab at all. When you are CEO of a company and you have a Brand that you keep telling people is putting out a perfect product then you get off your butt and go make sure they are, or you hire a very skilled lab manager with a cosmetic background to walk the floors, you don't sit home and call in color changes. So its time to stop giving her an out because of a "big, bad lab" that took advantage - hold her accountable for having done the right things not the wrong ones.
@@aprilromanek5576 Thank you. I have really done a great deal of looking into this as well as knowing a bunch from my own knowledge. I though about making a video about it and laying it all out but figured there were already more videos then most wanted to watch and did not so have just been making comments to others videos about what I know
When I have a ton of footage and I sit on it a few days. And I still feel I like the material and I are having a hard time cutting chunks of important stuff. I break it up in a 3 part or 2 part series based on a timeline or story. I am no youtube expert but I did get a degree in digital video production and editing. Hehe. Hope that helps. Hugs!
I used to adore Jaclyn and was even going to purchase some of lipsticks. But, as a CEO it is her responsibility and is at fault, yes!, knowing what the factory was like, to an extent. She was warned. Her actions are inexcusable as she is clearly lying over and over. I cannot believe she'd risk ruining her career over this. There needs to be a recall immediately. ..Interesting video, though, thanks for taking the time.
So a vet would probably not be able to identify the hair, but a phd biochemist or biologist who works with mice in academia could. Not every biochemist can do this, but that would be where I started. Some phd's who freeqently work with mice in their research are very used to looking at mouse DNA and can obtain it from hair samples or tail biopsy (we wouldn't have this of course) using PCR and Southern blot.
Hi. Not a vet, but a vet student. You're right, that hair is definitely organic in nature, but with the lipstick surrounding to cuticle, it's hard to tell. It does look like a rat hair, but it also looks like a rabbit hair, or even a human hair. It depends entirely on the foci. A human hair looks exactly like that, only with a much larger cuticle surrounding the core, which is unfortunately obscured by product.
You say it’s not Jaclyn’s fault . How do you know that ?? How do we know she didn’t get a lab to formulate these 2 or 3 years ago and she’s had them sitting in storage ? For all we know when the lab made them they were fresh and perfect . But she pushed back the launch so many times (there’s evidence that this is the case ) that the lipsticks expired? I’m not saying it IS her fault . But I don’t think anyone can confidently saying it’s not . Also her blatant lying makes her look complicit rather than innocent .
I know that this is NOT a matter of monetisation or anything like that, and making any sort of monetisation off of Jaclyn’s situation is NOT okay, but I’ve followed your work for a few years now and considering the amount of WORK and EFFORT you have put into this situation... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE feel free to split your 22 hours of footage into separate videos and monetise them, or do whatever will make you the most amount of money!! With all the hard work, effort and determination you’re putting into this product for nothing but pleasure, you deserve to make money from this!!! Your hard work deserves to be paid! You’re saving so many peoples health with this project and you’re an absolute godsend for doing so!!!
I feel so bad for people who’ve bought these. Between what is mostly likely mold, animal hairs, and unidentifiable chunks of metal, someone’s going to get sick from this.
@@clticspin I feel worse for those who have swatched them on their lips, even more so for those who said they'd been wearing them everyday since they got them.
If Jaclyn had been the first one to jump up and say, "PUT THE LIPSTICKS DOWN PEOPLE! THEY'RE NOT OK!" People would have respected her for that. Because the lab was at fault, but she stayed silent and shit finally rolled down hill to her!
Not a hair expert, but I've worked with mice for years in a lab. They really don't shed, nor is their hair long enough to even see coming out of a lipstick. More likely it's from rabbits.
My previous employer used a third party compliance auditor called SGS to do various forms of testing, one of which was animal hair/fiber identification (they were a cruelty free clothes brand that had to prove they weren’t using animal products, just synthetics.) SGS is a major company, but they do have an office location in Milpitas. I doubt they would be able to run only one hair for testing (most likely they have a minimum contracted amount) but it would be worth asking. Perhaps they could give you some pointers on who would run those tests non-commercially.
I'm 34. Take a collagen supplement, or marine collagen. Drink plenty of water, watch alcohol intake, wear spf daily, use a retinol in your skincare (the ordinary makes cheap, good retinol products) invest in an eye cream, whether it be cheap or expensive. Basic good skin care, retinol, and drinking plenty of water will do you wonders.
I think I'd like a short summary video, and then details and methodology in more in-depth videos. I'm finding the whole process fascinating and honestly enjoying learning new things about beauty products. Also, thank you so much for your time and effort, I appreciate it.
when I saw the medulla in the hair I was blown away. just the fact that it’s real animal hair, it looks like a discon medulla. idk why I felt like saying that but yeah, just gross.
I’m glad you’re taking the time to do your own research and not jumping to conclusions but I’m not seeing a lot of “cancel culture” to Jaclyn (I mean if we really compare it to James Charles, it’s not bad for her people still support her) that diminishes the actual concern and frustration that this has been allowed to continue because she was told not to use that lab if it was that lab and your findings mean there is something wrong with the lipstick but her company (that has her name on it) still claims that is safe to use. I get what you mean about jumping to conclusions but you aren’t the only one who’s done their own research and investigation and they are not backing up Jaclyn’s lies that she continues to say is the truth. This is why Jaclyn’s eyeshadow palette with Becca, vault from morphed, and now this has been going on because people diminish her trending behavior as a “mistake” or a “lesson to be (in my mind constantly) learned”
I'm not a makeup/chemistry/biology-related professional, but someone commented that the hair may be mink. I took a look for myself. The hair you found and showed on the screen is extremely similar to google images of mink hair under a microscope. It seems to me to be a close match, if not the same. This might also make sense because mink hair is used in the beauty industry, especially in the production of mink lashes. If the factory was also producing lashes with mink hair, they might have not used correct procedures for avoiding contamination or even cross-contamination of materials, which resulted in the mink hairs getting into the lipstick areas (vats or other areas of the process). Further testing or expert consultation would be needed to prove or refute this theory, but I think it's a strong one. Again, I must state I am not a professional. I'm just a lover of Google and science myself. :)
Bay Area as in California Bay Area? If so, we take our pets to Adobe Animal Hospital (Los Altos and Los Gatos) and they do exotic animals as well. Also, Foothill college has a vet school so maybe they could help as well. I love your channel and your scientific approach! I was a bio major for the first 3 years of university (I’m an anthropology major now) but I still love the subject and LOVE that you are educating the general public about science and chemicals in every day life! ❤️
I think if you did a five hour video people would likely end up watching it in smaller instalments. So maybe you should break it into the most important stuff in one video and then the science stuff in another like you were thinking? Honestly whatever you produce will be appreciated and whenever it arrives will be great. Don’t stress (ha) thank you thank you ! ❤️
the one good thing to come out of this whole mess is all the wonderful women in STEM coming forward to help and offer their perspectives as industry professionals. young girls can look up to you all as role models, rather than someone so unprofessional as Jaclyn!
In all honesty, I doubt a veterinarian would be able to help. If you can contact the scientific community, possibly on twitter because they love challenges like this, you can show microscopic images of the fibers/hairs (particularly look for scientists who specialize in animals and species identification, a zoologist perhaps) maybe we can find someone who can definitively identify them. Most likely you may need to collect fibers...carefully...so as not to cross contaminate them and we will see if we can identify them on a DNA level if there is a large enough sample, ideally with a follicle intact. They may be able to identify with mitochondrial DNA alone but a follicle is best. I don't know. I've posted a tweet and we'll see what happens. Can you maybe send some still images and I'll try with them as well since the video may be a bit wonky to work with?😊
You can also try yourself and speak to someone directly, I have some biologists and such in my followers so I'll post too and send anyone that might pop up your way. Good luck!
What do you mean you didn't find any plastic pieces? The lipsticks ARE made of plastic. Read the ingredients, people. Polyethylene Microcrystalline Wax - and yes, Jaclyn is at fault for this.
Great video!! I'm disappointed in Jaclyn for refusing to recall the product, but sooo excited to see all of these cool female scientists ! You can do it! 💪👓🔬 💄 It seems very likely to me that the animal hair may be from some other part of the manufacturing plant. It's possible that they manufacture brushes using animal hair. It was a little difficult to tell with what was posted onscreen, usually animal hair identification is made examining the scales on the outside of the cuticle. Maybe you could try to get a magnified photo of that scale pattern? That might help the vet
Fantastic video! Thank you so much for trying to figure out what is going on with these products since the company is not being forthcoming and still claim them to be 100% safe.
Most important pieces in one then scientific stuff in others. If you can upload them around the same time and link them so you can show the proof of technique.
I'd really like a few videos, one where you just give the results and another few videos where you detail how/why you did the test. Thanks so much for this!
I think the best thing to do would be to initially make a video that contains the most important facts and final confirmed findings as this is what most of the community and consumers of these lipsticks have been waiting for. Then, my suggestion would be to make future smaller educational videos that contain techniques you used such as how to maintain a sterile environment, how to choose and use control samples and the specific process you used to help you identify each contaminant you found. But first and foremost we'd love a video specifically telling us what you found inside these lipsticks to we can find out once and for all how safe/unsafe the contaminants are. Thanks for all your hard work!!!
I appreciate your time efforts and always remaining objective. Sending you love and support. Do what is best for you. We will be here whatever you decide xoxo
Sad that Jaclyn would let Mickey Mouse do the quality control. At least he had his white gloves on but still managed to get his hair in it 😔

I agree. Obviously she didn't make the lipsticks herself but the way she's handled the situation is awful.
Jaclyn kept says she created this collection all by herself. Now that something goes wrong she starts blaming the production. Before blaming production she blamed her first customers who publicly shared that they were dissatisfied. Her name is on the product. She should have been more diligent with quality control. And she was warned about using that factory.
True 👍
Please send this to rich lux or here for the tea, Sebastian Williams, Peter monn. This needs more attention
Kay Boogie I just tagged them on Twitter, hope they see it because if this is true this is crazy!!

Take high res photos of the hairs under your microscope and post it to Reddit’s whatisthisthing subreddit. They also probably have a microbiology or zoology subreddit.
Yes! Excellent idea.
@FE Rebekah nice reference:) I looked too and I think it looks like the rabbit one more, but either way... wtf! 😡🤮
FE Rebekah that’s disgusting 😩🤢🤮 thank you for the link!

Love At First Swatch I want an update from your boss!
Me too!
There was a website someone linked and I almost felt like it looked most like mink hairs? (Based on the samples of the website: www.microlabgallery.com/hair.aspx )
@GakheiraTo me, it doesn't really resemble mice hair, but I do see why you'd say rat.
@@tinabeana4495 I wonder if the lab maybe made mink lashes at some point? Or they have rats in the facility.

So much respect for you doing this in a diligent and responsible manner. No tea, no gossip, just facts.
I believe the term "lab" is just being used loosely and the manufacturing facility and lab is all under the same lab company
Tiffy Name: Oxygen Development Corp. Headquarters & Manufacturing Facility

the lab’s mess up isn’t Jaclyn’s fault- we all get that, right?
What is her fault:
- her decision to go with the lab
- her unprofessional treatment of people who initially raised concerns
- her continued instance that they’re 100% safe despite the concerns
- her unprofessional tone& deflection in an apology video that even she said later was cringey
- her continued decision to not recall the product
- her continued lies and misrepresentation of the facts (white gloves)
- her company’s lack of QC
- her continued use of anxiety as an excuse for not behaving appropriately as if the hundreds of thousands of other with MH struggles can say that for poor performance at work
that’s the tip of the iceberg on why we’re mad a Jaclyn
I don’t believe she knowingly released
these or wanted this or personally put the hair and metal in the product.

It's her fault because she was warned beforehand about using that lab and still went ahead (after backstabbing the owner of Makeup Geek by the way)
As someone who owns rats, just by looking at the hairs without a microscope, I have been saying they look just like rat hairs since the first time I saw them!
Prince of Mayonnaise that would be scary since Jaclyn Cosmetics claims they are cruelty free. So that alone would open them up to being shady.
@@singingfan or the warehouse that they put the lipstick bullets were infested some time in the last 4 or 5 years. Her Lipstick could've been made this year but those components are old!
singingfan it’s live rats fool. Haha
singingfan It’s not like they’re grinding up rats and putting them in the lipsticks lol. It’s most likely that the lab/warehouse has rats/mice running around which is common for places like that to have pests.
Maybe a rat fell in the batch, died, and decomposed and this is why everyone is having random bits in their lipsticks.
However, if she KNEW that this lab was responsible for other brand owners (Marlena stell) contaimenated products and STILL used the lab I THEN feel it is her fault 😥.
lo legally, (I’m not a lawyer) but I’d think that might open Jaclyn up to at least negligence.
Exactly, Marlena had warned her and she didn't listen

@@FANI-NI Sure the lab is at fault. But who has the ultimate end all say? Jackyln, sooooo ya 🤷♀️

If you burn the hairs you can tell if its protein/natural fiber v.s. synthetic! Since you have a microscope, and if the hair looks "scaley" v.s. "twisted & hairy", then it's definitely from an animal.
Exactly this. So easy to do.

It’s not the land fault it’s the manufactures AND Jaclyn’s fault. The lab is where the initial batches are designed and sent off for production. What? Wait! They found parts of the missing airplanes from the Bermuda triangle in JH lipsticks?
I literally LOL'd.
Here is a resource that talks more in depth about some of this info in case this all sounds like gibberish, and you'd like to see photos: archives.fbi.gov/archives/about-us/lab/forensic-science-communications/fsc/july2004/research/2004_03_research02.htm
If anyone has more to add please do.
202cardline Thanks for the advice! I edited that part of my comment for better clarification and description :)
Also, if I knew about this sort of science in high school, maybe I would have actually been interested lol

I’m wondering if any of the people who have experienced medical complications or adverse reactions are seeking legal advice.

This is Jaclyn’s fault, she should have reviewed and tested them before even thinking about sending this mess out.
Plus I was so busy filling orders I had no time to create anything new, which was my passion
Looks to me like jacklyn didn’t acknowledge or accept her limitations and kinda half assed it.

I think you should reach out to Texas A&M University for veterinary questions and labs. They are excellent in the field.
Yes! My mom and her hubby live in Bryan! He went there too!
Or UC Davis, she's right there and it's a Vet School
I appreciate what you’re doing. I think that we need to make scientific knowledge common knowledge. I also agree that the lab where the lipsticks were produced needs to be reprimanded. However, Jaclyn was fully aware of the labs issues, but she allowed the lipsticks to be sold to the public. For this, it is her fault and she is equally responsible. As consumers we need to hold companies accountable for their actions. Likewise, companies need to take responsibility for their actions.

Jaclyn would not have been allowed to wear her jewelry in a real lab either

I used to adore Jaclyn and was even going to purchase some of lipsticks. But, as a CEO it is her responsibility and is at fault, yes!, knowing what the factory was like, to an extent. She was warned. Her actions are inexcusable as she is clearly lying over and over. I cannot believe she'd risk ruining her career over this. There needs to be a recall immediately. ..Interesting video, though, thanks for taking the time.

I love how you explain everything so well and I really hope this video gets the attention it needs.
A some rats probably got into the ingredients, or crushed up in the mixing vats. Rich lux was right when he said critters, they are probably rat bone.
Jaclyn was warned about the lab beforehand. She should be held responsible and ultimately it IS her fault. 🤷🏻♀️
Break them down so you get yer money, girl! You’re working so hard. Sending support your way! 🙌🏼
At this point, Jaclyn *is* at fault for telling people they're still safe to use.
You’re saving so many peoples health with this project and you’re an absolute godsend for doing so!!!
I live in Napa, Ca, pretty close to you! I heard about Lindsay WildLife in Walnut Creek does animal hair identification!
Good thing I tried each of my 3 lipsticks ON MY LIPS. I'm LIVID with this entire situation.
😳 poor girl! 💞
Read: Maggots, rat hair, mouse poop and more: Gross things the FDA allows in food
I feel even more worse for those who haven’t kept up on what’s going on and still using them not knowing anything.
If Jaclyn had been the first one to jump up and say, "PUT THE LIPSTICKS DOWN PEOPLE! THEY'RE NOT OK!"
People would have respected her for that. Because the lab was at fault, but she stayed silent and shit finally rolled down hill to her!
Really appreciate what you’re doing for us. Sending love. My grandma just passed away and I’m dealing with stuff like that as well. Peace and love
Cassandra, can you do a video on anti-aging products? I'm 30 and need someone to tell me what to do.
Respect for the amount of science and research that went into this.
Elisa Castro exactly she talks about how invested she is about making it and doesn’t take responsibility when it goes bad
MINK HAIR my dear. What is sure it s not fiber or wool. NO WAY. THEY HAVE A CONTINOUS STRUCTURE NOT FRAGMENTED LIKE A LADDER OR DISCON💖
Wonder if the factory is producing mink lashes :( hence all the tiny mink hairs. Or rat hair. Whatever they turn out to be🐀 bork 🤢
Off topic, but you are so naturally beautiful!
the one good thing to come out of this whole mess is all the wonderful women in STEM coming forward to help and offer their perspectives as industry professionals. young girls can look up to you all as role models, rather than someone so unprofessional as Jaclyn!
Cass could you do a Q&A video with us sending you non skincare related questions? like stuff more about you and your life... 💗💞🦋
i imagined a rat falling into the batter, and then every customer of hers is wearing on their lips....*barf*
Good luck!
The Jaclyn issue is just getting more serious and interesting 😮😮
Definitely reach out to some university or community college microbiology professors. They are your best bet to help you. :)
What do you mean you didn't find any plastic pieces? The lipsticks ARE made of plastic. Read the ingredients, people. Polyethylene Microcrystalline Wax - and yes, Jaclyn is at fault for this.
That is a very commonly used ingredient in lipsticks and cosmetics.
She meant the plastic pieces a lot of people have found not plastic like ingredients.
Great video!! I'm disappointed in Jaclyn for refusing to recall the product, but sooo excited to see all of these cool female scientists ! You can do it! 💪👓🔬 💄
It seems very likely to me that the animal hair may be from some other part of the manufacturing plant. It's possible that they manufacture brushes using animal hair. It was a little difficult to tell with what was posted onscreen, usually animal hair identification is made examining the scales on the outside of the cuticle. Maybe you could try to get a magnified photo of that scale pattern? That might help the vet
Wow just gets worse just like our politicians
Fantastic video! Thank you so much for trying to figure out what is going on with these products since the company is not being forthcoming and still claim them to be 100% safe.
Most important pieces in one then scientific stuff in others. If you can upload them around the same time and link them so you can show the proof of technique.
I'd really like a few videos, one where you just give the results and another few videos where you detail how/why you did the test. Thanks so much for this!
I don’t use lipstick a lot but I have seen cheap lipsticks that have better quality than this..... 300 dollars for that not worth it.
Please somebody sue Jaclyn
Eew I can't believe people actually put this stuff on their lips! Disgusting
Wow. I can't believe they are still saying they are 100% SAFE while people are possibly rubbing animal hair on their lips.
I appreciate your time efforts and always remaining objective. Sending you love and support. Do what is best for you. We will be here whatever you decide xoxo
