Been so long since I've seen anything about this forgotten little masterpiece. Great to see someone do a deep dive into how its weird mechanics work to make things like item bombs work. Little thing I can add though. The rocket mk2 is also very effective at doing this, although it takes a bit of skill with the movement. If you manage to flip the rocket upside down when slightly above the ground, you can drill into it like a bunker buster if you have enough mass. When you consider the increased weight capacity, this can sometimes be even more effective, since you can drill past any external defenses and hit with an even larger payload. But thats just my take on it, a bit less economical than drop crates.
empty rockets do burrow through things a lot faster but don't really kill anything and a lot are needed to be truly effective
They just released a big update revamping all the sounds and it's SO GOOD

haha thats awesome! I also made my own kind of nuke but instead of objects its with crabs! about 100 or more per rocket it instantly destroys anything near it and if you order enough of them it can destroy anything alive in the map even my own brain lmao Im glad to see people are still enjoying the game!

Crabs are free, therefore crabs are the most cost effective weapon in the game.

Claymores are great, as are blunderbusses, basically anything that uses random BS to deal loads of damage as a result of explosions.
Really the only thing that doesn't seem to be properly physic-ed is that that the material disappears from existence when shoveled. Imagine adding all the debris from those shovels flinging things.
Debris from concrete and dirt is disappointingly harmless anyway. Debris from dropships and rockets doesn't get destroyed though, provided it was freshly made and hasn't touched the ground yet. Crate explosions don't have nearly enough force to push them very far however.

Thanks! This game was developed ages ago but also optimized quite poorly. You should be able to run it, and there's no harm in trying anyways; it takes up barely any storage, and is free!
@@MisterMan.. you must have forgotten to update to pre5 if it runs poorly, an AAA industry vet showed up and tripled the fps for that update...

Shovels are not enough.
I was cleaning the area with crabs. During the tests of the increased charge of crab matter, all living things were destroyed. No one was saved by walls or thicknesses of earth and stone.
Crab bombs are so last year. Shovel warfare is truly superior.

got a video on crab bombs? I loved how those could either be a bomb, or just DELETE life on maps depending on how much *C R A B* you packed into a crate.
A person that actually knows this game? Astounding. Unfortunately I (probably) won't be making more videos on cortex command, but there will be others in the same style. I also think they nerfed crab bombs somewhat, but I'm not sure.
You can replace shovels with crabs since they are free. This is better because you can take infinite amount of crabs for just 50 gold
This is somewhat true. The problem is that crabs weigh a lot and are significantly less effective.

Edit: Ok having seen it, this shovel bomb does result in less instant losses. Which is another strike against it!
Buyt for real using the digging poiwer of the mto blast through concrete is pretty clever

I wonder if this game will ever be anything more than a meme. Can't even climb ladders no matter how many crabs or shovels you airdrop onto the scene.
Unfortunately this game seems to be relegated to perpetual obscurity. I would like the ladders to be usable though.
What version are you using? You might just be controlling somebody too heavy to climb the ladders without falling off, try a lighter dummy or coalition unit. I can't say I've ever experinced a problem with the ladders in the game. I mostly play the steam version if that helps at all, mabye the open source project have messed up the code or something.
I couldn't get the ladders to work with any unit. I may be somehow too stupid to use ladders, or the open source version could've just broken them.

Kinda sad you leave out a mod community. It might be less present with only people that port old mods on open source version, but you can still find mods that add Star Wars, Warhammer 40k, Half-Life, Fallout and many more that add large amount of content.
