  • Hi everyone. Today I'm building one of my favorite helmets. A Halo 3 ODST Foam Cosplay Helmet. I also show you how to make an ODST visor with materials you can probably find locally. No vac form machine needed.
    If you'd like to make your own Halo 3 ODST Foam Cosplay Helmet, you can get the FREE Foam Pepakura File Template here: heroesworkshop...
    If you want to build the entire Halo 3 ODST Armor, you can get those Foam Pepakura file templates here: heroesworkshop...

      I know how much people love ODST and I’ve seen people get so discouraged from the visor alone in the past. It really stopped them from making the costume altogether. Which really sucked to see.

I put it through my cheap little airbrush and it's beautiful. What's more, if you want something versatile, it doesn't even need to go on transparent items. You can literally get a real chrome effect on any surface. Even wood, just as an example!

    I’m currently 3d printing a suit of odst armour and I was really worried about how to do the visor, making it like a one way mirror without spending to much. Thanks for this tutorial I’ve seen some other ways to do a visor but I think this is the method I’ll do

    • @Heroesworkshop
      @Heroesworkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is the basic and cheaper method. The other method require you to have a vacuum form table. I will do one that way in the future.

    Dang I wish I had a heat gun, tried scoring my ODST smg using a lighter and while it did score some lines I ended up with a few burn marks. Still I’m going to try to get all the materials for this and try to find other alternatives for the spinning tool, heat gun and water spraying thingy.

      Use a blow dryer on Max heat! Hold it close to your surface and if you have a funnel extension that helps even more. That’s what I do at least and it works quite well for novice work

    looks great. I too had problems with foam. getting better all the time. I am in the middle of a mando helmet(s). Building one out of foam and 3d printed one . Kind of a which is better thing.

      The things that I like about resin/print helmets is that they accept high end metallic enamel paints better and are more sharper in detail.

    What was the hardest foam helmet you've ever built? Any nightmare helmets you'd never wanna tackle?

    • @Heroesworkshop

      The Doomslayer helmet. I didn’t get the shape right the first time. I have to model the helmet to the game proportions, as the game file is just too high poly to use for foam. I’m at the point where if I want to make the full Cosplay, I might just print the helmet or sculpt it with my lifecast myself. I just want another stab at it on my own time offline.

      Usually that’s a deal breaker for most people making that cosplay. I had to figure out an easy way to do it. So it doesn’t ruin someone’s plans.

    just a idea, for the visor, instead of getting a pre tinted welding visor, get a regular clear one, then take the automotive tint and place it on the INSIDE of the visor, that way its better protected. you should get a similar result, idk about hiding the glued parts though that might be a problem
