  • In the final Video from Madeira I explore Pico Arieiro, the third highest mountain of the island. After some scouting in the evening I venture there for sunrise to experience a beautiful display of light with clouds drifting through the valleys beneath me.
As a little bonus to the behind the scenes footage I also show you how to create a mist like effect in a photo. For a forest scene I photograph I show you some in the field technique that is combined with masking in Photoshop to create a dreamy effect in an image. It looks a bit like fog, even though there wasn't any fog when I took the photo.

Love how you captured the light and composition on the image at 7:30.

Great video Michael, just found your channel after also recently visiting Madeira (Late Nov21) and ironically also photographing the same tree (7:47) hidden in the woods! I too was captivated by its originality compared with the surroundings!

Late November was also my visit. And with that tree seems we have a similar photographic eye 😀

Great video!! Inspired me to return to Madeira. Been there once. Pico Arieiro is something I'll definitely will visit once again, this time with my new Canon EOSR 5 camera :)

I've used the HP 123 filter for over 30 years. HP 123 = Huff and Puff then count to 3 and click the shutter.
