The Nature of Mind project is a 6-month season of events featuring prominent psychologists, neuroscientists, and meditators; including interactive seminars, meditation masterclasses, and retreats. Each month, we will release conversations with prominent thinkers on the nature of mind and reflect upon their ideas with a seminar. This will be followed by a week of meditation guidance, applying what we’ve learnt to our own mind. The project culminates with an immersive retreat in August 2022. From theory, to reflection, to practice: join us in exploring the Nature of Mind.
“You are as the yellow leaf.
The messengers of death are at hand.
You are to travel far away.
What will you take with you?
    You are the lamp
    To lighten the way.
    Then hurry, hurry.
    When your light shines
    Without impurity or desire
You will come into the boundless country.
    Your life is falling away.
    Death is at hand.
Where will you rest on the way?
What have you taken with you?
    You are the lamp
    To lighten the way.
    Then hurry, hurry.
    When your light shines purely
    You will not be born
And you will not die.” - Dhammapada, Chapter 18

Really nice to see Carol Bowman still doing talks about reincarnation. I first saw her on Unsolved Mysteries which was back in the 90's

thanks a lot Vajratara for a very clear and grounded conversation. There are number of people in Triratna who have past life memories and other experiences but don't feel able to air them. This is a very good way to bring new vistas.

Life after (your) death is impossible as there is no way for the information that is you to persist after you die. After you die your brain, consciousness and soul will still be there with your dead body but they will no longer function and they will go kaput. But if the concept of an eternally inflating multiverse is correct then sooner or later an exact copy of yourself will be randomly created from scratch and realised in some future universe somewhere else in the eternally inflating multiverse. Also if the concept of an eternally inflating multiverse is correct then your exact life you have lived so far and every other possible variation of your life will ultimately be lived an infinite number of times over the course of eternity.

Great interview! Thank you! I have always had past life memories and with the years the depth of my subconscious “living” only intensified. This is really interesting to listen to.

There is a great story of a young boy, 9/11 and the reincarnation of a New York City fire lieutenant who perished in The North Tower. The full story as told by the boy's mother on (and to me off) Carol Bowman's popular Reincarnation Forum starting in 2007 up to the present day. The books full title, Fire in the Soul: Reincarnation from Antietam to Ground Zero. Written by Jeffrey Keene (Asst. Chief F.D. ret.)

I am feeling very uncomfortable about what is being said in this interview. Whether there is such a thing as rebirth or not (and I must say as a western buddhist, I have parked it so to speak), the idea that wounds may be due to past lives, and that healing may arise from such investigation, this is in my view dangerous. Having suffered from mental health issues, I think that this sort of approach is very frightening. In my experience, such situations are awful enough without diving into the paranormal, which could lead to lots of fear.
