Vajratara - 'An Example of Sanity and Compassion In the World' | Women's Area Order Weekend 2023
There are a number of inaccuracies and omissions in this talk, which I blame on my having had a cold. At 16.50 I should have said 'after Ambedkar left America'; at 23.50 I should have said 'belong to a body of people who are denied it'; at 49.00 I should have said 'Sangharakshita said, rather than 'Ambedkar said'. Also, saying I was raised a 'classic lefty liberal' doesn't really do justice to my parents' political views, and of course they came of age in the 60s, not the 70s! And Singhamanas was also on the 'secretaries retreat'. In fact it was his idea.
Fascinating stuff.. feel I’ve genuinely missed something not getting to know Bhante personally.. I wonder what he would say about that x Aryanaga
Fantastic:)

Interesting hearing all this from Padmavajra who I knew in his Aryatara community days when I lived there in the early 80s. If you are reading this I am alive and well and doing my ngondro.

I very much appreciate your talk, insights and examples, Vajratara. Thank you for giving this and posting it! Like many Buddhists & others, one seeks to be active, engaged, with suffering & some of society's 'ills', as best & clearly as one can. A learning process ... Sasanajyoti

Nice
I want executive control of mind at large
I love Bernardo´s explanation of Consciousness however, I was pondering a question: How do you explain thousands of cases of NDE´s? Obviously there is consciousness outside your body, but it is still dissociated from the Conscious field, even after death. This sort of conflicts with Bernardo´s point of dissociation.
😁
Thanks Bernardo and Viryadeva! I am sure one can use psychological techniques like CBT, hypnosis, etc.. to modify the mind without destroying the "whirlpool"! Thanks again for this wonderful discussion and for Bernardo's uncompromising search for truth 🌿
Thank you for this nice video, and for all the happiness in seeing the faces being at Adhisthana!
It is fascinating the contrast in how these two conversants sit. Perhaps brain hemispheric in nature?
