My dad had a 2003 E55 AMG, black, tinted, looks just like yours! He powder coated the stock wheels in black and got the black grill too. When he passed away, I got the car, he loved it a lot so it means a lot to me and I take really good care of it but man every now and then I have to hammer it and feel like a fighter pilot sometimes :D His has the panoramic glass dual sunroof option with the solar panels that run the fans when off (they still work!) which I heard is pretty rare in the earlier years! It is a dream to drive, love it a lot although some cosmetic paint stuff needs correcting, yours looks so great! The side window trims on mine definitely aren't black anymore, they eventually turn gold interestingly enough haha...Good call on the springs for sure, mine is out there slammed on its back tires because it is below 15F and the seal gets too rigid when it's that cold

Keyless entry scares me. I made sure to get one that didn’t have it cause I was scared of it failing. Fast forward a few years and I’m finding out that the EIS with the keyless entry system isn’t and was never as common so it’s a lot more difficult and almost impossible to repair or replace once it goes out 😥😥
The recipe of this car is basically the same as a hellcat , it was ahead of its time! Marvelous. didnt they have a suncell on the roof to charge the 12v batteri because of the heavy electronics?
As far as steering, I wonder if you could find a way to lighten up the insprung weight? Wheels, rotors and calipers… etc. it might improve the steering feel. And the look of that car is timeless.
Hm! what you could do is probably use stiffer springs and fibble with the alignment to get better steering respons. I kinda like it as it is, it’s an older car after all! And i totally agree, beautiful cars!
Can buy the blacked out headlights with brand new clear plastic and have a better product. Just have to remove the bumper to install the new ones. Polishing looks good briefly but becomes cloudy again. New ones will last another 25 years.

1:52 did you just say 2006 is the last year they produced the W211 chassis? That's not true bro, there are two more years of the facelifted version... 2007-2009... Then came the w212 late '09, and mostly referred to as 2010 till 2016
2005 CL55 (W215) is more perfect than a E55 of any year. Lighter, more powerful, more luxury than an E series. I have one with 87K and just over 600hp to the wheels. Nothing compares for under 100K.
E55 is lighter and better no doubts.. The extra luxuries in CLs make it heavier.. I take e55 with more passenger space and boots anytime over the cls55
@@sazad4968 -not a CLS a CL55. They were slightly lighter than a E55 and a True S class Coupe (2 door) so luxury is off the charts. The heavy 4-door CLS is no comparison. And the E, also a 4 door, is...well....a 4 door. -nuff said.

@@truckingwithtidstromit’s a tune for the gearbox as yours is a later one being 06 has the faster solenoids so tune gives you extra drive mode so gearbox has more quicker aggressive gear changes done by TJ merry well known for his TCU tunes for AMG not that expensive and you get sent a complete TCU and takes minutes to swap out not laptop or coding. Many of E55 owners have this.

EVOGT has MK Uktra tune with SLR settings as well and few others.
@ where do I start? ok, outside, the looks of this car amongst all over full sized coupes or just cars in general is virtually unmatched. aside from someone’s personal bias you cannot say that car is anything less than beautiful. from the smooth silhouette of is length to the Pilar less windows that give you the most beautiful unbroken window opening from front to back with all the windows rolled down. Inside? All the luxury you could imagine. From the million way massage/heated/ventilated quilt stitched seats with all of the obvious power and memory seat settings. To the 116 inch wheel base that gives it enough room to fit four full sized adult males or even above average sized ones. Every little bit of convenience thought of. The seats that hand you your seatbelt. The magic sky ( electronically tinted sunroof), the infotainment center that balances the new touch screen era without it being overkill. The flawless sound system with the added jazz of having spinning roll out theatrics. The gear lever being a stock behind the steering wheel, giving your center console less clutter. The switchable side opening armrest storage space. I mean the list just goes on and on even down to the gorgeous steering wheel. Which, just like the rest of the interior, can be color matched. Performance? Out of a 4,500 lb boat of a car you still get a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds and top speed electronically limited to 186 mph. All wheel drive with things like curve control ( the car leans into turns with you so you stay flat at all times. Almost motorcycle like ) a twin turbo charged v8 that sounds beautiful and also gets really good gas mileage surprisingly. Talking a combined low 20s for mpg out of something that have with over 600 hp. 17 mpg city, 27 highway. More trunk space than all of its competitors. The bmw m8 and the Bentley continental. And lastly, RELIABILITY. BASIC routine maintenance will have this thing lasting forever. you’d figure hey, it’s a luxury car, they all start falling apart eventually. Nope. Not inside or out. You put this car up against anything else and they fall short.

dont replace headlight glass, just get a restoration they will look brand new. have a PPF installed to protect the headlights
