I don`t know about feeling... he didn`t even know what verse he was on near the end. Great organ playing but a pity he drowned out the singing... the organ is supposed to lead and accompany the singing, not overpower it.
🤣🤣🤣🤣!! Yet another Sloppy Mark goof up. I'm so glad that my son wasn't there to hear that slip, as they'd have to carry him out of the church as he'd be laughing so hard at me. I don't what's wrong with me now as my playing is even sloppier. Thanks for your hilarious comment, I greatly appreciate that! Take care!
I make those mistakes all the time. Not out of carelessness, but my fingers slip off the keys easily. I just laugh and say I added a bit of jazz to spice things up.
When it says amateur organist this very demeaning and an insult. He is who he is.he has great imagination and a spontaneous delivery that is a natural gift not an amateur show. He is what he is. I have heard some well educated organists who could not play the doxology without the music in front of them. Bruce
My dear Sir. Once again...simply brilliant. May the Lord keep you and protect you. And all without notes. Maybe you are gift to the world. Best wishes from Hamburg/Germany. PS: Please excuse my bad English

@JamesEncliffe Thank you Sir! I FIRMLY believe in using the TOTAL tonal resources of the organ as I'm not a timid player at all as demonstrated. The applause at the end demonstrates that this church enjoys organ music, and for one of the Priests there-at full blast. He told me one Saturday after practicing that he LOVES it when the organ "shakes the building!" If you'll notice me pointing and laughing at the audience, I was pointing at that Priest as he was leading the hooping/hollering lol!.

To Scott Robelot, so very sorry for the delayed response as I got your question on Google + and oddly, not here on TH-cam in the comments section of this video where I could've answered it sooner. Also, your question only shows up on my phone and not on my desktop, so go figure.... The 32' Contra Bourdon is actually a 16' Bourdon that is capped, and the 32' Contra Posaune is 1/2 length, but good especially C, C#, and D. Have you seen the stoplist? You seemed to be familiar with it.
Oh, okay that's a good place to find information. I'm glad that you got my reply. This and the earlier videos shot from the gallery don't do the organ much justice although oddly enough, my latest videos sound far better than this one (perhaps having the camcorder on the right side versus the left side of the console makes a difference) but the absolute best is called 'Come Labor On Rehearsal' which was recorded from the nave floor away from the organ with the acoustics of the room really making it a spectacular sound in my opinion. You get to hear the organ as though you were walking around the church as my son (the cameraman) was nearest the Altar with the organ at the other end in the gallery. Check out that video and you'll hear the difference, and how effective the 32' Posaune really is and just how fiery the Trompette en Chamade is too on its low wind pressure. Thanks!
6:11 or there abouts you use a passing E# that shouldn't work, but does and inspires me as much as it confounds me: JUST BRILLIANT. The LORD works through you, Mark, to show His power, beauty, mercy, and truth to all who sing His praise. Praise the LORD!

Mark, please know that it is YOU who inspires me. I call you my brother of re-harmonization for a very good reason. Wow, that's quite kind and certainly generous! Hook & Hastings eh? How many ranks and manuals? The Riverside Church organ was once a Hook & Hastings before G. Dan Peacock Lol Dan! THANK YOU! I know that you're right, but it drives me nuts. My son gets a kick out of watching me become annoyed over making mistakes as he laughs his head off every time I do make a slip. Judging by the applause at the end, I guess everyone was okay with my playing. It was great fun indeed, and thank you ever so much for your kind words. When you get home, you'll be able to sing along lol.

Thank you, and I also wish that you had him far longer than you did. All the very best to you and please have many fond memories of your dad. Regards, Mark
Wendell W. Alderman Generally speaking, I don't do requests because I'm an amateur organist who's not professionally trained and plays by ear. If I know the music that you request, I'll do my best to play it and do it justice. I haven't played the organ in nine months or so due to health issues, so I'm not sure when I could honour your request.
@Your1Advocate Thank you! It makes me wish I had taken piano/organ lessons to begin with as I'd be a far better musician today. My organist friends would say that it's never too late! Thanks, and kind regards, Mark
Thank you for your kind comments Robert, and I'm glad that you enjoyed this particular video. I hope to continue to make videos that everyone can enjoy, so please feel free to view my other videos as well as subscribe to my channel. As to your question, the 'Under boss' is my favourite person on this planet. He's my 28 year old son who sometimes is my cameraman for my videos. Thanks again, and kind regards sir. Mark
@goodchappy Thanks, It's been my full intention to purchase an external mic since I purchased my camcorder a year ago on November 4, 2010, but unfortunately when I had the funds to do so twice this year, that was very low on the priority list and honestly, I had forgotten all about that (even though I bought a mixing board). The right mic to buy would be a professional mic like an AKG or Earthworks and they're expensive. I do have the audio recordings of all three services I played in and they>>
Mark, I'm back, and I'll be ready to get your CD this Wednesday. I wish I'd not had to wait so long, but it really was a bit difficult year. At any rate, I want to send the CD to my nephew and his family. They're very involved with their church (also Episcopal), and he's in their choir. I don't have to wonder whether they'll love this because I know they will. I hope life is treating you well, good sir. It's so good to hear your music again. :)
Thank you, and your son will be a far better organist than I am (I'm an amateur). Good luck to him and encourage him to keep at it as we need more great organists in our ranks. Have a terrific New Year!
It's only loud because the console is maybe 15 feet from the facade but out in the room it's not overpowering at all. I don't remember how many pipes it has. Thanks!
Big Daddy Mark I am truly one of your greatest fans, you did an incredible job as always, how you can play everything without music (to the extent you have to have the choir director remind you which verse you're on) is beyond me, but absolutely incredible to watch and listen to. You are a true master, and you are also hilarious when you make a minor "typo" when playing, you about fly off the bench and flip off the keyboard hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
Abe! You keep disappearing then showing up out of the blue LOL. How are you? I hope all is good with you. Thanks yet again for your kind words as always. Yeah, I didn't have the hymnal open to follow the verses and forgot where I was in numbers of stanzas. Yes my reaction to my stupid mistakes has been taken notice of by MANY with them finding great humour in it. My son is the ringleader, and LOVES to see me make mistakes so that he can have a good laugh to my predictable reaction. Stay in touch buddy, and take care!
Hey Mark! So sorry I don't always reply to your vids in a timely manner, even though I am subscribed to your channel, your newest vids don't always show up in my new vids to watch queue! I will have to watch more carefully, because you are one of the greatest organists I have ever seen! And yes, I can understand your son loving it when you make a mistake cuz your reaction is always priceless and to be honest, your "mistakes" are usually so minor no one would ever notice! And I still can't get over how you never use music yet you have every hymn completely memorized, and you can completely ad lib entire processionals...AMAZING talent!!!!! Thanks for sharing, and bringing much joy! Abe
Thanks Abe, and don't worry about prompt replies either, it's no big deal. I've had the same issue with not being notified that a channel I'm subscribed to has posted a new video. I wish that Google would get their act together....
Burkhard Terhart Thanks, it's a nice organ that of course, sounds far better out in the room as opposed to up in the gallery. The only 'challenge' for me is WHAT to play since I'm not a professional organist, but rather an amateur. Thanks!
Really? Wow, but then you are an absolutely outstanding amateur with very god accopaniment skills! I like the harmonization. I´m not a professional, too. Ive got a desease called Morbus Bechterew. So I can only play, when Mr. Bechterew gives his OK... :-P Please go on uploading more videos of your playing! If you don´t know what to play - just improvise! Greetings from Germany!
Mr. Robelot, I thank YOU for your kind and generous comment, and I hope that I'll be able to keep you interested in what I do on the organ. Thanks again!
Hey Ty, I guess you're not subscribed to my channel otherwise, you should've been notified every time I posted a new video. I'm glad that you found it though! How've you been? How are the kids and wife? Hope all is well with you out there. Post some videos man! Be good buddy.
@arpch01 Thank you, and I hope so to answer your question. I enjoyed playing the final (processional) hymn and postlude in those three services very much, and they've been most kind to me, a mere amateur.
Sorry Art, I never saw your comment until now so I apologize for the delayed response. Thank you for your kind comment and have a most successful 2013!
Listen Dr. Mark..... for 30 years I performed for crowds as big as 30,000 people..... let me tell you, if you are going to make a Mistake.... MAKE IT BIG.... MAKE IT HUGE.... CLIMB RIGHT BACK OUT OF IT..... KEEP ON PARTING THE AISLE... KEEP ON GOING.... AND NEVER APOLOGY!
"Dr. Mark" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Well thank you, that's mighty generous of you and awfully kind, and I greatly appreciate you indeed! Thanks for your encouragement, be well and be safe.
@goodchappy >> are far better as you can hear the choir and congregation much better. Since I'm computer challenged (lol), I'll have to wait until my son has the time to come over to my place to upload those audio recordings with a slide show for me. Yeah, having the camcorder up in the gallery with me recorded more of the organ than it did the choir except in the All Saints Day service. That final hymn was a most popular one (All Creatures of Our God and King), and the Cathedral was packed.
Michael Godfrey I'm just glad that my son wasn't there for that dopey mistake as he might've fallen over the gallery rail from laughing so hard. Thanks, and where are you located? Shaky Isles? I'm not familiar at all (I'll Google it). Is that where you're organist? Thanks again!
bhigdaddymark ... far from organist I'm afraid ... a mere humble dean! Waiapu is a small cathedral with a great organ (www.napiercathedral.org.nz/uploads/Web%20Site%20Organ%20Specification%20-%20July%202013.pdf) in NZ

Lol Dan!
I haven't played a pipe organ in quite a few years!! I'm a Hammond man but you make me want to slide on the pipe organ!
BRAVO! BRAVO! You made my day! My Month! (From a classically trained Music performance major (Trumpet) MAGNIFSCENT! "
WOW!! Talk about being humbled....THAT is of the absolute nicest comment ever on my channel and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it and YOU! You just made MY day, month and start of a fresh new year! THANKS again, and please be well and be safe!
Thank you, and I also wish that you had him far longer than you did. All the very best to you and please have many fond memories of your dad.
Regards,
Mark
BRAVO! I just became a fan with this piece (smile)
Wendell W. Alderman
Thanks!

Generally speaking, I don't do requests because I'm an amateur organist who's not professionally trained and plays by ear.
Thanks, and kind regards,
Mark
That was the most insane thing I've ever heard! Great job!
@RobCharles1981 Compliments from professional, fine organists/musicians like yourself always inspire me Rob. Thank YOU!
Mark
you do a good job on playing the organ the songs sound very nice that you play
Thank you!
Could you list the chords on the last verse? They sound amazing and spiritually uplifting !!
Very nice!
Thank you Dr. Coates! Hope that all is well with you!
Excellent
Thanks so very much, greatly appreciated indeed! Be well and be safe! Best to you and your entire family.
Big Daddy you ROCK! Awesome!!
Lol, thanks Stephen!
@benchkey New video=bringing out friends who've disappeared for a short while lol! Good to hear from you, and thanks so much!
Thank you again! You're comments are inspiring!
Freaking Double Awesome.
Such talent!
Thank you so much, appreciated indeed!
One of my favorites!
Mine too!
Thank you, and your son will be a far better organist than I am (I'm an amateur). Good luck to him and encourage him to keep at it as we need more great organists in our ranks. Have a terrific New Year!
How many pipes does this organ have? it's very loud and powerful but very awesome just like the power of God to put it simply?
It's only loud because the console is maybe 15 feet from the facade but out in the room it's not overpowering at all. I don't remember how many pipes it has. Thanks!
Hey Mark. Your reharmonization are wonderful. Did you ever get a chance to write them out? I would definitely buy a copy.
I LOVE Michigan, what a lovely state! I'm from New York City.
Impressive organ! I just at the stoplist on the cathedral website! Many "german" stops there. Must be a challenge to play.
Please go on uploading more videos of your playing! If you don´t know what to play - just improvise! Greetings from Germany!
Thank you so much!
Mark 'BhigDaddyMark' Ferguson im not a professional(laughs outloud)
Big Daddy, always a treat to see and hear you play. By the way, you've got some good threads on!!!!
+Stephen McMullen
LOL, thank you Stephen!
I have GOT to go out and buy myself a DECENT SUIT!!!!!
Mr. Robelot,
I thank YOU for your kind and generous comment, and I hope that I'll be able to keep you interested in what I do on the organ. Thanks again!
I love it!
Hey Ty, I guess you're not subscribed to my channel otherwise, you should've been notified every time I posted a new video. I'm glad that you found it though! How've you been? How are the kids and wife? Hope all is well with you out there. Post some videos man! Be good buddy.
Thank you Derek, but truth be told, I still haven't mastered it as yet. One day though, one day...Thanks for your comment. Cheers!
Mark! It has been a while since I've talked with you; but as always your music is beautiful!!! Keep up the good work, friend! Jerrod
@RikTara Hey Rik! How are you buddy? Hope all is well across 'the pond' and that you have a good Christmas. Cheers!
@arpch01 Thank you, and I hope so to answer your question. I enjoyed playing the final (processional) hymn and postlude in those three services very much, and they've been most kind to me, a mere amateur.
Love that hymn! I call it “The Dentist’s Hymn”
Sorry Art, I never saw your comment until now so I apologize for the delayed response. Thank you for your kind comment and have a most successful 2013!
Now I have to go to 4:28 to see what you're talking about lol, thanks so much!
Snap! This is awesome!
Stephanie Vance
Thank you!
I'm really enjoying these final hymn / postlude videos. Are you playing more?
Awesome stuff Mark ! :-)
@oldbear52 Thank you and you're welcome. Hope all is well and that you have a good holiday!
Listen Dr. Mark..... for 30 years I performed for crowds as big as 30,000 people..... let me tell you, if you are going to make a Mistake.... MAKE IT BIG.... MAKE IT HUGE.... CLIMB RIGHT BACK OUT OF IT..... KEEP ON PARTING THE AISLE... KEEP ON GOING.... AND NEVER APOLOGY!
"Dr. Mark" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well thank you, that's mighty generous of you and awfully kind, and I greatly appreciate you indeed! Thanks for your encouragement, be well and be safe.
Thank you! You're kind indeed.
Thanks Jay!
@MultiSpaz1234 Thank you, and you're most welcome. It was my pleasure indeed.
Just love the body language at the 3'38" glitch! At any rate come and tickle our ivories sometime when in the Shaky Isles (?aisles?) ...
Michael Godfrey Mr. Godfrey, thank you so much for the link to the stoplist of the organ at your cathedral it's a gorgeous organ indeed! THANKS!
If that organ is making my room shake just think what it must be doing to that church!
@SirJohnny9999 JOHNNY!!!!!!!!! Long time brother! Thanks, and I hope that you had a good day! Stay in touch.
Regards,
Mark
