I suggest that when a customer says I wish you had _____ , give them a chance to custom order that product. I have owned a quilt shop and got sooo in debt because I listened to some customer who said “ you should get this or sell that” . So I would buy whatever “it” was but those customers never came back and guess what? The product didn’t sell, or I had to deeply discount it. Live and learn! So now if I don’t have what a customer wants at a market I’m vending, I can still make a sell because I take their order and I get full payment. We both win!
Great tips and the pep talk was very helpful. Other tips I'd add that has been invaluable for me was to make sure that if you're taking Square or having some sort of card reader that you (1) make sure everything is fully charged, in the event you don't have access to electricity; (2) bring a portable charger, in case your cell phone/tablet/POS is not charged enough; and (3) verify internet access or hot spot needed/quality, so that your electronic payments can be processed easily.
Probably the most straight to the point no nonsense honest actually done it (a million times) helpful Craft Fair guides I have seen. You cover it all! Really excellent content and seriously worth watching.
I did my first fair last year. Amazingly somehow did very well. I'm coming up on my second one and still feel a little bit like an imposter. I've been doing a ton of research on how to be best prepared and things I can improve on from last time. So I've been watching tons of videos like this. I've taken away helpful little nuggets from each one. However, I have to say this is one of the best, if not the best videos of this kind that I've seen. It's packed with so many amazing ideas and tips. You also did a great job of clearly communicating and talking in a way that is easy to listen to. Great job and thank you for giving back to the community.
@ambvlntSoul thank you so much for watching and your kind words ❤️ happy to help! Glad to hear your first one went so well, that's awesome, congrats!! I'm sure your next one will be even better!
I would love a video of store front craft booths. I have one myself and have no idea what I am doing as well as DIY displays. Wonderful video thank you for helping us beginners with tips and tricks!!
Thanks for watching! I completely understand- mines a constant work in progress as I'm learning as I go. I do have a basic video on it already but I'll do a more in depth video showing more display ideas for ya! If there's anything else specifically you want to know/see, just let me know 🥰
@@CreativelyEricaAnd just like that, the comments were worth reading, too! I already have an offer to pitch to a salon and was wondering about a display. Also, how do you handle pricing/sales?
@CynthiaFaulkner-g8t That's amazing! So I determine my pricing with a couple of things in mind- costs, time/effort, and competition. So I start by breaking down how much each product costs to make with all the supplies used (down to the penny). Then I decide how much I want to be paid hourly (which is the hardest part in my opinion) and track how much time it took me to make the product start to finish and add that to the cost total; the total of these is your baseline, anything past that is profit. Then I look into (apx) 3 competitors and how much they're charging for the same type of product (which is completely optional, I just don't want to be the most expensive in the market so my customers can save, which keeps them coming back if they like said product). & as far as sales go- they're completely up to you. Sometimes I will do a mass sale on my whole booth randomly if I need to get rid of inventory that hasn't sold and/or to make room for new products. Sometimes I'll do certain sales around holidays, for example I like to do a 25% off sale on Veteran's Day, or 50% off a product for teachers during teacher appreciation week, etc- completely your discretion. Usually because of the sales, customers will buy MORE (so I sell way more than any normal day) so because they're saving and buy more, it ends up covering most of the profit lost due to the actual sale. You could also do fun lil coupons or freebies if they spend a certain amount. Hope this helps!

Wow that is the best Craft Fair prepping advice ever, based clearly on hard won experience, thank you so much for taking the time to do this, really appreciated and super helpful
Solid Gold advice, particularly the section about not packing up too early. It's been a long time since I attended Craft Fairs, which for me were Computer Fairs, but the Wisdom still holds good. Much of what you said is blindingly obvious, but therein lies the pitfall for many an aspiring crafter (like me) which is that we get blinded by thinking we have nice things to sell and don't consider the need to present them in a way that people will actually buy them! Thank you. Now, can I feed back something which is that it took me 5 or 6 visits to actually complete watching this, so can I suggest it be broken down into a series of slightly more digestible chunks. Thank you again!
This video is excellent! Thank you so much for putting this content out for those of us who are getting started and overwhelmed by it all! I will be watching this several times!
I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to give all of this excellent advice. I took tons of notes and I'll be working on my first craft fair, hopefully this fall. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Hi Erica Thank you for such an informative video on craft fairs. I just started doing them again after many years being away from them working at other jobs. I’m now able to do them again. Thank you
I’m doing my very first shop local fair this weekend and I’m pretty nervous and excited. This was so incredibly helpful. Informative without being overwhelming. Helping ease some of the nerves.
I will be doing my first holiday craft sale. I will be selling handmade jewelry, artisan metalsmith, wire wrap and beaded jewelry. I might not be able to have all the stuff needed for the display, but I am excited to give it a try, since I have been wanting to do sales because I love to do jewelry and I have spend lots of money with inventory and classes. Even though if it doesn’t work as I am planning I will take it as an experience since I have been scared to do it thinking that I will not be successfully prepared. Your video gave me lots of great ideas. Thank you.🙏🏻
I was searching for your video again because i never got to finish it but i knew you mentioned a good tent!. It's funny you say inventory so you can see how much people stole!😄Sad we have to do that!
MASTERCLASS right there! Thank you so much for sharing your hard-earned knowledge so generously. I've just stumbled upon your channel & will be sure to subscribe. You've helped me so much - I was on the point of not bothering any more with art & craft fairs but putting into practice some of your advice has given me so much enthusiasm.
I was having SUCH a day today! And then I watched your video and the end made me cry, because I've been struggling so hard with these first few fairs - enough to where, even though I've already invested some money into a canopy and table and a couple of display stands, I keep asking myself not only whether it's worth it, but whether I can even DO this. I've compared myself to other vendors, wondered why I wasn't making sales when everyone around me was, KNEW my display wasn't as nice as theirs, and even thought maybe I wasn't inviting enough. I had come to the point where I thought maybe my products aren't that great, even though I know the crowd at my last fair just wasn't right for what I'm trying to sell. So thank you for your encouraging words toward the end of your video. I had a fair today that was cancelled and my stress has been so high that I'm literally sick in bed, today (I have Dysautonomia, which is severely impacted by stress). I decided to try researching more about what I'm trying to do and why it might not be working, since I'm having a down day, and I found your video. Some of your advice I had already come to realize on my own just with my experiences so far, but I added a fair few things to my list to do in the future from your tips. Also, especially helpful are your links in the description! Thank you for those - it's been hellish, just trying to find what kinds of displays I need, and days of looking through Amazon not knowing what peg boards were called, or gridwall, made it so I just wasn't finding the right things, on my own! You rock! 😍 Liked and subscribed, ❤ and if I had any money, I'd buy you a coffee! 🥹
thank you so much for watching and sharing your kind words ❤️ I'm so glad my video could help in any way but I'm ecstatic that my encouraging words could provide some relief for you, I just knew how discouraged I was after my first few events with sales/costs, comparing my booth to others, and just feeling completely lost with a touch of imposter syndrome, so I felt like I needed to include that in there because someone out there HAS to feel the same way as I did then. I know it's easier said than done (as I still struggle with this) but don't stress about what's out of your control, you can only try your best babe! There's only room for improvement, and it does get easier (and better) the more you do! Good luck on all your future markets, I KNOW you can do it!! 💪💅👏💕
@@CreativelyErica thank you so much! I'm learning that networking is important - and is a thing I'm not very good at, but I'm trying. I haven't had a craft fair since the cancelled one the day I commented on your video, because vendor fees keep stopping me from being able to sign up! I'm considering trying the flea market, but my prices might be too high for that, I don't know. I'm still struggling, but in the interim, I'm meeting new people, and I have a couple of opportunities lined up. This seems to be a hard thing to get into, for a variety of reasons (cost of vendor fees, poor sales with the wrong crowd for my crafts, still learning how to set up my stall...), but I'm not ready to give up, yet! 🩵
Thanks for watching, glad to help! Completely normal to be scared and/or nervous, I sure was and still am! I still get so nervous before every single event- but you just have to push through, and it'll be worth it!
Thanks for all your great tips ive never done a craft show but with all this excellent info i would surely feel abit more prepared and appreciate all the wonderful tips you shared here alot of great advice thanks for sharing this was so helpful to know what to expect and how to prepare for a show should i do one in the future :)
Thank you for sharing all your info with us! This is very helpful! 😍DIY displays are always helpful. I'm a sewer, so need ideas for hanging aprons, table tops etc.
Your video was very informative with excellent tips. I have done boutiques and not had much luck with them, but it may be because I sell cards and I don’t think people are buying cards much. I do have an Etsy store I am trying out. I have also sold some in a small boutique. I would love to see any future videos of yours. Thank you for sharing.
Great Information I do a lot of the things that you already talked about, game changer for me is having the table on the top or the front. You’re so right about having to pull everything out just to get to the table. I love your ideas on marketing especially the social media. I’m just really starting to get into marketing my candle business and that’s what I hear is document everything behind-the-scenes great information thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. You gave us popup vendors GREAT tips and advice. 🎉 I do events, sell online, and I am a vendor in a local specialty store in my city. I would love for you to do a video on being a vendor in a brick and mortor shop.
This was an eye opening thoughts and what I need to make some adjustments. I would love to see a video about permanent booth & how to price my items. Thank you.
I love this it kinda applies to me but I only do this once a year at the casino Christmas bazaar we rent tables I there event center so I sew all year around I love to sew but I own a barbershop and salon so I can't do it full time but man it's fun every year I have fun
I am so glad I watched this. You gave excellent advice. Thank you very much It's my first show so you helped me a lot . Can you maybe do one showing how to do displays. Thanks again!!😊
I like all the tips and help! I also really like how you give suggestions to new vendors, it can be really intimidating and discouraging to see other people’s huge and beautify established tents but, you make it still seem fun and inclusive for beginners and I super appreciate that ❤
TY for being real w/o all the fluff! Appreciate your tips & suggestions! Haven't looked at all your videos yet(just found your channel). But broaching the social media aspect of getting people to your booth TYVM for your channel! I'm looking forward to browsing. Metal/Laser art maker in Oregon
New subscriber here! What a great video! I took a break from craft fairs but getting back into them and you gave so many great ideas! Thanks for sharing! ❤
Absolutely! I have a basic video on it already but I'll do a more in depth video showing more display ideas- anything else you specifically are interested in hearing/seeing on the store booths?
This video is so so so helpful to me. I work in marketing full time so I clearly understand the marketing side of things but I'm doing my first market in a few weeks and I'm so nervous about the actual booth set up and trying to make sure everything is ready. Thank you SO MUCH for this video.
What an amazing video . I am planning my first craft fair in a few months. This has been so helpful. I am from Tasmania Australia. I will defiantly subscribe.
Thank you for your videos! They are always so helpful. Very interested in a video on store front booths. Recently set one up and not really sure what I am doing.
Thanks for watching! Glad to help however I can 🥰 that's awesome- congrats! I'll definitely be doing another storefront booth video soon and I'll show some display ideas as I'm about to add a 2nd booth 💕 if there's anything specifically you want to know/see, just let me know!
❤ love it your awesome great tips. Took so many notes❤ lol my favorite one was having a discount section for opsies lol I love clearance items lol and I know I'll likely mess up a lot. 😅. newbie trying to become something.
Thank you so much for all this information. I’m just getting started. I’ve done events in the past and always got in debt due to not selling enough to cover the fee. I don’t understand about not using business cards and you are so right. People take them and I never hear from them. I’ve invested in table covers, canopy, fans, cash box, displays and I advertise the events on my facebook page. I have my personal Instagram, Facebook, and I advertise on my groups. That has not helped. I have handmade wood products from recycled materials and sewing items, and shopping tote bags. I stamp my information on the back of wood products but haven’t invested in sewing labels for my sewing items. I don’t understand about QR codes and other ways to contact me.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video with all the helpful information! I’m doing my first craft fair this weekend, and I know I’ll be using some of your tips.
I’m new to your channel and love your content! You are so helpful and organized. I would love to see a video about getting set up as a vendor in a store! Keep up the awesome work!
Great helpful advice you generously offer thank you! New subscriber here and hoping to start selling my handmade products at a few farmers markets soon so I'm glad I came upon your video 😊

When I say you came through with all the information!!! This should be first and only video for beginners!! Love your video queen!!
Thank you so much!! Glad to help and share 💕
This has been so helpful. I'm in my 60s and have been so scared to start. Thank you so much.
Me too and i was so scared but I did my first pop up yesterday. No harm came to me LOL
Thanks for watching, glad to help! Completely normal to be scared and/or nervous, I sure was and still am! I still get so nervous before every single event- but you just have to push through, and it'll be worth it!
Thanks for helping me with your presentation ❤
Thanks for all your great tips ive never done a craft show but with all this excellent info i would surely feel abit more prepared and appreciate all the wonderful tips you shared here alot of great advice thanks for sharing this was so helpful to know what to expect and how to prepare for a show should i do one in the future :)

I would love to see more videos about craft shows and vending in general. Great video!
You got it! Thanks for watching!
Great video with so much info! Thanks!
Thank you for sharing all your info with us! This is very helpful! 😍DIY displays are always helpful. I'm a sewer, so need ideas for hanging aprons, table tops etc.
Ur welcome, glad I could help.
Love this!!! All the detail and boring but Sooo Important parts!!! Thank you !!! Im gonna do all of this. ❤
Great Information I do a lot of the things that you already talked about,
game changer for me is having the table on the top or the front. You’re so right about having to pull everything out just to get to the table.
I love your ideas on marketing especially the social media. I’m just really starting to get into marketing my candle business and that’s what I hear is document everything behind-the-scenes great information thank you.
Thank you so much for watching! Glad you found it helpful!
Thanx and ur welcome.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. You gave us popup vendors GREAT tips and advice. 🎉 I do events, sell online, and I am a vendor in a local specialty store in my city. I would love for you to do a video on being a vendor in a brick and mortor shop.
Ur welcome and thanx. I'll think about it.

Thank you so much this was veryyyy helpful! I do my first event in a few weeks!
Thanks for watching! Good luck!!!
I like all the tips and help! I also really like how you give suggestions to new vendors, it can be really intimidating and discouraging to see other people’s huge and beautify established tents but, you make it still seem fun and inclusive for beginners and I super appreciate that ❤
Thanx and ur welcome.
TY for being real w/o all the fluff! Appreciate your tips & suggestions! Haven't looked at all your videos yet(just found your channel). But broaching the social media aspect of getting people to your booth
TYVM for your channel! I'm looking forward to browsing.

Absolutely! I have a basic video on it already but I'll do a more in depth video showing more display ideas- anything else you specifically are interested in hearing/seeing on the store booths?
Ur welcome, I'll think about it.
This video is so so so helpful to me. I work in marketing full time so I clearly understand the marketing side of things but I'm doing my first market in a few weeks and I'm so nervous about the actual booth set up and trying to make sure everything is ready. Thank you SO MUCH for this video.

This was so helpful and well delivered! Thank you so much!
Thanx and ur welcome.
Thank you for this video, newbie here and this was very informative. 😊
