How much should defensive fielding responsibility be prioritized over being in position to receive a pick? Or should the pick be the top priority for a 1b with a runner on first?
@@MegRemSoftball I agree that it is quicker but I can't tell you how many times I have seen a player take off for 2nd and the 1st basemen having no idea. I agree that the players should communicate but in the chaos of the game it gets missed. I personally don't like having them turn their back but respect where you are coming from.
Thank you for this vid! This will help my daughter out a lot as she was actually stuggling with how to pick at first

Good stuff.

Always make sure you can field a ground ball first and if it's not hit, then you can run to second to cover.
Thanks Meg!!!!
I'd love to see the same for 3rd base throw downs.
@@janetteblaisdell238 I will do that one very soon
@@MegRemSoftball that's awesome! Thank you! I love your drills.
In more advanced players - do you want to turn your body away from the field?
Yes. It''s a quicker tag, especially when the ball is coming so quick from the catcher.

@@joesmith4599 sounds like it needs to be worked on more in practice then, in my opinion!
