- Upcoming top 1 Ascension to Heaven is decorated, but is controversial because some do not like the deco. They feel that the top 1 upcoming extreme demon is too homogenous and its parts are too interchangeable, making it boring. So, is Ascension to Heaven a good number 1 demon in GD?

No, it will win the gd awards for sure on Deco, like ispywithmylittleeye could win the effect level award, only in ohio dawg could win the story level award blah blah blah... Its a very good way to make a theme and keep it straight. Also i love how its cut into different parts like you said, the Ascension, the maze, and other stuff. Another thing that i dont see in levels is the name being like the level, an example is limbo: limbo is called like this beacuse its a memory and makes you feel lost, Ascension to heaven, well, you're in heaven.
But acheron dont have to do anything with the song thermodynamix, maybe call it thermos? That would a fucking great name. Yatagarasu-flawless wings of yatagarasu

I liked your explanation for the whole theme. I believe the creators took inspiration from the trials to get into heaven aspect. If you look at the original BMS Ascension To heaven Background Animation from like 6 years ago you will see a line in the BGA that states
"When I died sometime soon
Weather it will be heaven
that I go or will it be hell?
I cannot know the answer.
In other words...
God only knows..."
I think this line is almost a good representation in which the level is going although its up to interpretation on the player. It's really free form and thats what i enjoy about ascensions to heaven!
I absolutely agree, people just want to hate on everything for no god reasons, Accession To Heaven in my opinion is an awesome level!
You don't know the half of it. People don't hate on Ascension to Heaven because it looks bad. Instead, people think the decorators should make the parts more distinct from each other so they are more memorable-otherwise, it just looks like it was made by one person and you can't tell whose part is whose. Also, all the videos use the same format and say, "little to no lag," which isn't braud enough detail to help people know if they can run the level well or not. Said issue is probably causing more of the controversy than the level itself.

This is why I hate it when people say that they hate fingerdash because “robtop levels don’t have themes” SHUT UP! Themes, when done right, are amazing! Personally, as a Jew, I appreciate the non-religious view on heaven.

My problem is that it doesn't feel like a heavenly or mystical journey. It just feels like you're walking through some abandoned garden in Rome.
I really liked the part in the layout with the white floating orbs apposed to the black background. I would've liked to see more playing around with actual heaven themes or the afterlife instead of what we got.
Don't get me wrong, the deco looks good. Amazing even! But it just completely misses the mark and the vibe of the level, and also just doesn't try to experiment with anything that feels "epic", bombastic or huge feeling per se.
I wonder what they have to say about the “hell-themed” levels making up 96% of the demonlist.
They suck. No variation is driving me bonkers
Its mostly just generic glow levels. Hell theme probably make up maybe 5% of all extremes but since all the top demons are hell themed they get more flak.
People complain when the level looks consistent. People still complain when the level looks inconsistent. They just wanna complain and others just jump on the bandwagon.
Speaking of this level, its easily one of the BEST upcoming level, and might hit my Top 10 favourite of all time.

Yeah, I agree with everything about the level. Though I think some of this could've been avoided, if the creators didn't use the exact same video template when showcasing their parts, because I think that's largely a reason why people even started to see repetitiveness in the first place. :)

I’m not really seeing the “ascension” part, I would expect some gradual progression from down on earth to up in the sky. Plus, you can keep a consistent theme while changing decoration styles
Funnily enough, the main problem I personally have with Ascension to Heaven is not the theme, but the quality of the decoration. I think the theme is really well executed and the ideas found in the level are really unique, however I think that lots of the decoration is far, far too messy. I get that they need to optimize the level in order to reduce lag, but they did it to the extent where it REALLY brings the level down in parts. Of course, not all parts suffer from this, for example Mag and Bli's part, they both use a low amount of objects yet still looks complete. On the other hand, ThunderDarkness's part isn't nearly as clean as theirs. If you pausing during their part, the textures overlapping and random out of place/blurry random details becomes extremely obvious making the part look unfinished. This goes for other parts, but I just noticed it the most in ThunderDarkness's. Despite this, I think the theming of the level is on point and cannot wait for the whole level to be finished!

i noticed this a while ago and yes i agree some parts may need to be chnaged a little just to make the level look complete but i think most people are never guna beat this level and only end up watcing people beat it or botted it in that case u wont just pause randomly ya know?

This level is too consistent, I request a generic glow part immediately unless you prefer that I riot for around 2-3 business days.
I 100% agree that the consistency and execution of the heaven theme as well as each trials own theme in Ascension to Heaven is amazing and it's my favorite upcoming top demon by far, but I don't think that LIMBO is a good example of an inconsistent level as there are way more chaotic megacollabs out there. LIMBO certainly isn't homogeneous, but it also doesn't feel annoyingly chaotic to me, with stuff like the constant color theme and consistent music barely holding it together and the simpler old style maze sections feel like a buildup to the special sections. Overall I'm definitely in favor of consistency although my tolerance for variety seems to be a bit larger than yours.
Fr I never understood why people thought it was repetitive. I watched the level over and over again and I never understood what was “boring” or way too “repetitive”.

We’ve had so many bad top 10s and upcoming top 10s that people are used to them
I feel like a lot of the people critiquing the level are just closet atheists upset at the fact that the level is heaven themed. Other top 1 megacollabs that maintain some generic hell theme didn't get the same treatment.

i don't think it's boring i think it's sick as fuck. those who think it's copy paste haven't seen the deco up close. there are so many small details that come together and make each part unique despite being the same theme. it's visually very stunning in design and gameplay/flow, plus the song is fucking incredible. who cares that it's the same theme throughout the level? i don't see anyone asking for a hell themed level to mix and match other themes into it so why tf does it matter? and why is it when a level isn't hell themed it's almost universally hated?

argument is not valid at all ( MY OPPINION ) i think the consistency of the decoaration makes the level feel more relaxed ( even tho it isnt ) and gives a good vibe, each part is combining with one another and that could make to a more unique gameplay, you cant add nk style to a heaven theme, even more like hell, glow, modern and so on, the consistency of the theme truly makes the level unique, and yes there is a bit of diversity tro chapters ( as you specified ) with great desing all trowards the level ( eddit ) tho i am a bit concerned ab the mobile players that cant open the lv, ofc they wont be able to beat it but still
The level and song name are "Ascension to Heaven" and they are complaining the level is heaven themed. Did they want a part to be in hell? Im confused what these people want.

I just wish at the end the level became golden and brighter with less overgrowth like what they did on M135’s part. This would make it feel like the culmination of a real ascension, reflecting how the song pitches up and becomes higher. Still a pretty much perfect level deco wise though
People are so used to hell and evil-themed stuff that they're repulsed by the idea of heaven-themed levels like demons

this map was executed very well. It follows the theme of what the mappers want the players to experience and isnt copy and paste at all
They should decorate according to the chapter. There's a chapter called the ruins, a chapter called the prelude, a chapter called ascension, etc.

I feel like sticking to a similar design and theme fits well, makes it feel more together, idk how else to describe it, really cool looks so real and colorful. Accentation to hell looks really really cool.

I think it's a great level I just feel like it's a bit too long, i perfer a bit shorter lecels but if it's meant to be a top 1 I guess it's kinda needed. but i disagree about limbo having good sections that don't work well together, I personally think they all fit well

I don’t think starting in hell would make sense. The most that would work with the theme would be starting from Earth.

I dislike ascension to heaven because it all looks the same. I heavily disagree with your point that consistency = something more interesting.
Ascension to heaven basically looks the same the entire way through. Foreground pillars, small bits of foliage, white marble and an ancient look.
I agree that a theme is important but variation is equally as important and that they need to be combined.
Take the yangire, Limbo, Nhelv, Solar flare and cold sweat as masters of combining themes and variation
But levels like Ascension to heaven, oblivion, Emerald realm, Acheron and renevant look the same the entire way through. I find these levels to be way less interesting and way less memorable because there is no variation.
And ascension to heaven is a real bad apple because it’s style isn’t that original. It looks like Culuc made the whole thing which is very boring.
I disagree and here's my reasoning: while I do agree the parts look like they could have been made by one person ( you said it looks like CuLuC made it) you're saying it like it's inherently a bad thing. I also believe that the parts aren't even that similar as there definitely noticeable differences between the parts such as different amounts of greenery, structures etc. while still working well together. A good example would comparing m135's part to inex's part (in the ufo) you can tell there are differences, I'm not going to explain them so there's a video th-cam.com/video/aFG3w32eVBA/w-d-xo.html . Another thing is that you said it's style isn't very original but I can only think of one heaven themed level that came be for it and it's the opposite theme of most other upcoming top 1s. TL;DR: ath isn't repetitive at least in my opinion. I respect your opinion though
