Ya know, as much as humans can sometimes be dicks- we lie, we cheat, we steal, we kill, etc. Sometimes people can be pretty awesome. To see an entire city do something like this for a little kid... saying my faith in humanity being restored is an understatement.
To say we have done good or bad is inherently an opinion. We have done what is in our nature. Ultimately it has been about survival, we tend to celebrate that.
I was there that day. I was among the thousands at Civic Center cheering on the Batkid. Not only did I get to see him in person, I got to feel the energy of so many people sharing excitement in something so great. It reminded me that one thing we always take for granted is the kindness and caring nature of most people. To be surrounded by so many people with a common love for making a brave child's dream come true was indescribable. It truly restored my faith in humanity.
that must have been amazing. I would have loved to have been there. I still almost can't believe something like this actually happens. You always hear about so much death and violence. This was so uplifting. That's so cool you were there.
Leave it SF to have the ULTIMATE Pity Party... kid looked like he just wanted to take a nap lol.. how much did this cost again? How many "dreams" could MAWF have fulfilled?? At least a hundred.. this was a giant "yep, man we are some good azz folks" party...
@ultimatesunrise You sound jealous. Nothing you do (or I for that matter) will ever be close to this. You will make no mark, no positive lasting impression. Just a bitter hater. Go back to bed or playing video games and yelling at people to make yourself feel better you turd.
What people need to realize is that a stunt like this isn't just changing the life of a little boy who wanted to be Batman, it changes the lives of everyone involved. All those people who can now say they were there when San Francisco transformed into Gotham City for a day will remember this for the rest of their lives. Not only that, but it also gives hope and courage to every young child who is battling a life-threatening disease. It sends out a message, a message that says; Keep strong, keep fighting, and never give up. Something like this just goes to show how selfless and caring human beings can really be. How many people turned up and lined the streets to support that young boy? Not only that, but it's because of the internet, social media and the interactivity we have today that made this entire spectacle more than anyone ever expected it to be. Things like this should happen more often, and it's a real shame that they don't.
Masterash01 totally agreed! The people involved needed this more than the boy. People needed a happy story with a happy ending, and this little kid is the real hero here. He pushed through being exhausted half-way through the day, and kept going. He put his personal struggles aside and gave people a happy ending that we all needed. That's the definition of a hero. In a huge way, millions of people needed this kid way more than he needed us. And he delivered the way only a hero can.
let's face it, it's a very expensive project. It would be nice if they could do it for all kids with cancer, but it takes planning and money and many people. But it does bring people together even if it only happens once or twice in a year/decade.
I still cry like a little girl when I see the Batkid videos. Make-A-Wish, along with a whole city, came through for this kid and a couple, who happen to be rich, paid for it all, not taxpayers. This has nothing to do with race, with social status, it's just a really awesome wish coming true for a sick child. I'm sure the boy and his parents did not expect it to become the huge event that it did but this shows us what humanity can really be like. I'm from California and San Francisco just made me proud. This should cause everyone to put aside all their petty differences and just applaud such a fighter of a child.
I am a pediatric ICU nurse and I just started volunteering with Make a Wish Foundation. I tend to see these children at their most vulnerable, sickest times when they are in the ICU, so volunteering to me is so I can see the other side of these children. I love the joy and the fact that these wish kids get to be a kid for once without having to worry about their illness. The anticipation leading up to the wish gives them encouragement, strength and something amazing to look forward to and improves their health through this process. This story was so heartfelt and the support behind it reminds me how many wonderful people we have supporting our youth. This is the kind of news that needs to be reported, shared and acknowledged because this is what matters.
aura avila Because he's the hero that the Francisco deserves. He's the one that they need right now because he can take it. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. He's... THE DARK KNIGHT.
I can't get over how cool it is that an entire city got together and planned this event for Miles and how people came from all over the world to see it. Really goes to show what we can do if we all stand together.
No wonder the US is the greatest country in this world. Thank you for such an amazing act of heart-warming and devotional love and hope for not just locals, but for the whole world as well.
+strateass They actually intended on leaving The Joker out of it. Why? Because when picking villains for this thing, they thought Joker would be WAY too frightening for him.
I just finished watching the documentary of this on Netflix, so beautiful. I wish i was there, to see someone as happy and as privileged as that brings a tear to my heart. Faith in humanity restored!
Actually Miles is doing great! The majority of kids whose wishes we grant go on to beat their illnesses and live typical, healthy lives. You can read an update on Miles here: sf.wish.org/wishes/wish-stories/i-wish-to-be/wish-to-be-batkid
Make a wish is such a wonderful thing, my sister had leukemia and they made a wish come true for her. All the kids at the hospital got a wish not just one. Batkid is just one of those wishes that came true. This runs by donations that u can make and rich people and corporations make. Please don't criticize unless you know exactly how this work and how it makes a family feels when they tell u at the hospital, your sick child gonna get a wish.
How can people dislike a beautiful thing? This was meant to for fill a wish of a CHILD! It's meant to bring a smile to their face while they are battling the most horrible thing a child could go through! No matter the location, a child is a child. If people have the money to make one kid's dream come true, respect it. What are most people doing? Sitting behind a computer screen, complaining about life. I'm glad there are organizations like these to keep a child smiling and hopeful. Life is beautiful, and most of us that are healthy don't see the beauty in it.
it's so heart warming beautiful anyone ever done it before, making his dreams comes true, he want to be a super hero like batman, it was good, made me cry and funny. It make me feel to help the children to make their dreams come true, never give up on ur dreams. Batkid thank you.
This is the most beautiful story...ever. God bless him. So awesome. Great Job to all those involved. This is what America is about. This stuff right here.
7:18 Not just making everyone's day in San Francisco better...you made the world a better place...and not just for the day....but for every day that follows when people watch this video. Yes definetly faith in humanity restored. People can be so awesome if they are only given the chance. It doesn't always have to take a disaster to bring a city or a nation together. I like it when the news is about good, don't you?
This is what brings my hope in people back, make a wish didn't just have a small event for him, but they really did good when they had all of San Francisco do this, i just wish i knew about this so i could support him along with the others.
What a touching story. So heart felt. Miles has made my day. Great job San Francisco Make A Wish. Making wishes come true and memories for a life time.
This was obviously the most amazing thing that could have been done and thank god and everyone who helped to aid his treatment should be commended because he survived but... how are his parents gonna top this
Awesome...just amazingly awesome. With all of the crazy bad things going on in the world today, im so happy to see that wishes really do come true..and for this little 5yr old boys wish to come true was a true blessing. You are my hero Batkid:)
this always makes me smile. if one of my cousins' kids got cancer or something else that qualified them for a wish I would do all i could to help make their wishes come true.
How can you not smile and shed a tear at the same time at this beatiful thing make a wish did for this brave child., I Know God smiled that day. This renewed my faith in humanity
I was one of the Camera Ops.... The many, many Camera men and Women who got to be involved and shoot a story where an entire city took the day off and and bring this idea to life. A Nobel story and a great memory.
When I first heard the news about this whole Batkid adventure, I was blown away. Thank goodness the Make A Wish Foundation exists to bring joy to kids like Miles. :) This is so cool! XD

Awesameer I’m in miles class I sit next to him
Riddler: LET ME OUT!!!!
Batkid: NO!
Toy chica none of yo beexwax *Sad recorded music for Riddler.*
Savage
That was the coolest part. Probably scared the Riddler good!
Imagine Batkid just gives this surprisingly low pitched manly growl "NO" and uh "WHERE IS SHE, JOKER"
Three years later and this still awesome as hell.
+Nick Bleker (SkullxGaming873) 2 years, boy!
+Amy Grindhouse Well, 3 years, because the video was posted on January, and the comment was posted after January.
the batkid is officially cancer free, so its i'd say its more awesome than ever
2019 and it’s still awesome.
Still awesome as hell, I love watching these great Make-A-Wish videos.

@@retroruby YES
The fact that the kid beat it is even better
i will never stop sharing this video
I think we all wished the joker had made an appearance slightly but this is just the best thing I've heard of in weeks.
+strateass They actually intended on leaving The Joker out of it. Why? Because when picking villains for this thing, they thought Joker would be WAY too frightening for him.
How could someone dislike this!!! This child deserves this he was so strong!!
I’m in his xlass

Amazing how so many people came together to make this little boy's wish come true.
I just finished watching the documentary of this on Netflix, so beautiful. I wish i was there, to see someone as happy and as privileged as that brings a tear to my heart. Faith in humanity restored!
This made me cry. Bless the kid so much, he's a survivor and real hero for people everywhere.
Not the hero we deserve, but the hero we need.
This is the cutest and emotional thing i've ever seen in my entire live...
Humanity has been restored. God bless this Batkid and hope he recovers.
This is the most heartwarming thing I have ever seen, I cannot believe how amazing this is, I just can't.
Does anyone else think it would be awesome if Miles Scott played Batman in the movies when he grows up?
ZukoHalliwell he died...
Unique YT he beat leukemia
Actually Miles is doing great! The majority of kids whose wishes we grant go on to beat their illnesses and live typical, healthy lives. You can read an update on Miles here: sf.wish.org/wishes/wish-stories/i-wish-to-be/wish-to-be-batkid

Holy tear ducts, Batman... I can't stop crying while watching this video. Batkid rules. Make-A-Wish rules. San Fransisco rules.
Now San Francisco really is just Gotham City. Time to call Batkid back.
That guy who played Batman earned all my respect We need to celebrate people like him I'm glad I watched this
This was so cute to watch happen LIVE. Truly one of the best things to happen in SF.
